Shahrukh is panned at times for "hamming" in his more popular movies but people tend to forget that he comes from a theater background. This is why his monologues command such attention. One feels like they're in the room/space with him.

8:33 if u notice dadaji knew he will die soon. He kept on checking on the progress of the work. He just hanged in there to see the change in his village. A freedom fighter, a teacher, a guide to the village.. he was a true patriot.
My heart is so full watching someone discovering Shahrukh Khan’s filmography. Miguel (he’s my favourite) definitely cries a lot like SRK 🥹🤭 and Josh was spot on with his review,too 🫶🏼.

Slightly disagree. I do agree that this amazing movie would've been an inspiration for a lot of NRI to come back. But before the movie as well, this wasn't a unique story. A lot of NRIs do come back and will continue to do so for one reason or the other, and start contributing to their communities.

Hamare pass cooks hai, maids hai, shopping apps pe groceries, sabji , milk sab 10 mins me online order pe aata hai . Chalke bahar nahi jana padta . Sabse bada deal breaker to maid hai. This movie didn't do good in box office, some say flop, shows how ahead of time this movie was. Still one of the best movie from Bollywood.

First time getting membership or subscription of any kind, just because of this movie and uncle ji.
My favourite is the postmaster ji, his morals are sewed to him like a rock. He speaks his mind with absolute resolve and inspires people around him as well. I know mohan's character is what started it, but he wouldnt be able to move a stone without a person like Postmaster sahab beside him.

SRK at the beginning of his acting career, he played negative characters, characters that were rejected by the rest of the Khans, as well as other actors. You should start with films like Baazigar and Darr.. 🔥🔥

The person who played Dadaji, is Lekh Tandon, he was the first director whom SRK worked with, on television in the late 80s before he stepped into Bollywood . the serials were called Dusra Keval and Dil Dariya😊

I decided to stay in my home country after watching this movie. I can't bear to watch this movie without drink. Sometimees i blame this movie for thr situation that i am in right now. I could have done much much better if i would have been in other country. My country would not give me the opportunity to make the change that i wanted to. Now the situation is all my friends are abroad and i am stuck here managing my family and still struggling. My Indian people are so hard working that they can make the changes in any country that they would move in. I am proud but still struggling to manage my brother's education. Manage my family
You should go abroad learn the good things and return. This would help India more with the knowledge and outlook you would gain abroad.
It's commendable how even without the language and just subtitles , Mr Sanchez is able to connect with a foreign movie with different culture all together. I guess the phrase that "somewhere we all are cut from the same cloth" holds some truth to it.
Miguel is pretty amazing for sure. There are some movies where it is tough for him because he has to focus so much on subtitles (when they speak too fast) but even still he always finds a way to connect.

This movie is way ahead of its time.. Its movie of all times actually .. Even today in India many people just plainly blame Govt and never introspect themselves.. They are more attracted towards America UK germany and never care to utilise their brain here in India... This is total brain drain.

Fun Fact: SRK's character in this movie Mohan Bhargava is also in the movie Brahmastra: Part 1. Ayan Mukherjee the director of that movie confirmed that both are same characters although in brahmastra he is a superhero/scientist

TBH I haven't seen Swades movie since last decade until now with you guys. This movie has special place in my heart. Movie is great and all characters and their acting is also great. But this movie is special for me because of different thing happened when it was released.
Swades movie director Ashutosh Gowariker was born and had school life in my city Kolhapur, Maharashtra, India.
He also is a former student to my high school named Vidyapeeth Highschool in kolhapur city.
When this movie was released in 2004 I was a 10th grader back then. And Ashutosh Gowariker was in Kolhapur city for some purpose and happened to visit our school. Our principal, teaching and non teaching staff along with all students welcomed him. Then he gave a speech in some sort of questions answers session hosted by teachers in front of all students. He told us behind the scenes moments from movie. Also he made us sing "Yeh Tara woh Tara" song. He was also travelling with the RV used by SRK. It was parked in school's parking lot. Me and my friends were the first to find this out and we literally entered the RV. The driver let us in seeing our enthusiasm. I still remember.. the RV looked same inside out as in movie. And I felt so overwhelmed by knowing.. this is where SRK was standing, sitting, roaming around and acting. It was amazing moment. 😊😇

Bharat somehow has a soul which touches everyone and is living from ancient times. It's tough to explain, until you live here then go to another far country and look back at it.
Easily one of my top 10 from bollywood, can watch this film again and again. Also, one of AR Rahman's best work.

One of the best film from bollywood & very underrated. Ashutosh Gworikar is a great director. Ashutosh & SRK started their careers together in the early 90s in a tv serial "Circus". You should watch "Lagaan", "Jodha Akbar" & "Mohenjodaro" as well.
SRK's performance is authentic and natural, making it convincing and engaging. He effectively captures the emotional journey of his character, from his initial detachment to his eventual connection with his roots
Back when this movie was made . .Indias space program was mocked by western press. That cartoon showed the Indian space program holding a cow outside the elite club of western space programs. Today India is a player doing innovative space work on a shoe string budget...😉 sometimes showing up NASA.
This movie is everyone's favorite, I even read a lot of comments from foreigners who like Swades. The only people who don't like it are those with black hearts haha

I love this channel because it has a person like Josh who knows little bit about India and language. & Then there's Miguel who's smart and kind. He understands the emotions really well. This is exactly what many reaction channels doesn't have. They watch our movies with their stereotypical mindset with half baked knowledge about the country and they end up misunderstanding the film or miss the significance of majority of the scene. I like that you guys don't jump on conclusion & let the movie educate you about the characters or scenes.

I have also recently moved back to India after staying there for 12 years and I do not regret it at all...

Thank you for reviewing this Iconic film. It's so refreshing to see the perspective of a non Indian on this film. This is one of my Top 3 Shahrukh movies but unfortunately it did not do well at the box office. Big Regret.

He mentions vikaram sarabhai space centre which is now a part of isro, and it was the first space centre in india. That's more or less similar to nasa in terms of working and the work they do so he would just fit in easily also since he worked for nasa easy for him to get into.

Swades, like many other are a cult classic which flopped on initial release because viewers were not ready for such a story and execution. This movie is an emotion, filmed beautifully with the best cast and world’s best musician A R Rehman who infused his brilliance and life in this creation. Suggest reviewing Lakshay and Masaan as well if you guys haven’t. Those too flopped on initial release too. Great stuff, thanks!!

_Swades_ does something unexpected and cool IMO. It gets its message across while also defending the U.S., which I appreciate as an American child of Indian immigrant parents. (P.S. I live about 15-20 miles from Goddard Space Center here in Maryland, so I get a kick out of the fact that the character of Mohan works there.) (P.P.S. Josh and Miguel know way more than I do about Hindu mythology. My parents would be disappointed in me for my ignorance, if I didn’t give them about a million other reasons to be disappointed in me. 😂)

Another underrated and unappreciated movie of Srk is Billu barber and it has another G.O.A.T. Actor Irfan khan. You should definitely watch it.
