    I have the 6000. Nice reel. I had one problem for about 15 seconds. The reel locked up while I was doing a retrieve. Tried to wind it and still locked. Then it started working fine and has ever since. I do not know what happened. This only happened one time and it was the maiden usage of the reel.

    I think is sad to see so many shorts, but there is so much we can learn from days like this and dink’s fishing, to me, is from trying different wave timing, retrieving speed, water deep columns and beach structure.
    One thing we don’t see very often is what you show here, switching colors not profile to get in to the bite.
    Now I’m interested to see if the small fish is 100% only on sand eels. What happens if we give them a totally different color and profile lure??🙂. How we ever going to know if it’s there a ticket to reach to only the biggest fish of the pack by only go against the rules or the common sense of well known matching the hatch bite...🤔
    Thanks again for a great clip.
    Best
    Mag

    • @FishAholicTV
      @FishAholicTV  4 роки тому +1

      Ahh you know you just reminded me I forgot to put the clip in. I actually snagged a sand eel during the second half of this video so I knew that was the main forage. I did take a few experimental casts with bombers, and a pencil bu the wind and heavy surf made it tough to fish effectively. But yeah changing color can sometimes mean the difference between catching half a dozen or a dozen.

    Whats the smallest rod you would pair with the 6000 before considering the 4000. Kind of wanted a 4000 for my 7-8 foot set ups and the 6000 for my 9-11 foot set ups.

    • @FishAholicTV
      @FishAholicTV  4 роки тому +1

      I would pair the 6000 minimum with an 8ft medium action or heavy surf rod. Medium fast 8ft or a Shorter rod probably the 4000 but I’m just going on reference from the size of the 6000 I haven’t used the 4000 so don’t quote me. Wouldn’t hurt to bring your rods into the shop and throw the reel on it before you buy it.

    Go straight braid to the spool or do you back it? How much 30#lb does the 6k hold? Also where's the links to the hooks?

    • @FishAholicTV
      @FishAholicTV  3 роки тому

      Usually I like to add backing so I can break a 300yd spool of braid into two and fill up two reels with 150 yards of braid each. If I'm using my heavier setup for bigger fish like my Van Staal 250 I'll add backing but about 200/250 yards of braid. I don't know the exact calculation of the amount of braid the 6k holds but heres the link you can possibly find out on this site bit.ly/33jZT7L
      Also a little tip is most braid if treated properly and washed with freshwater after each use and not left out in the sun should be good for a couple seasons but a little hack to let that line last longer is flip it around after the first or second season and put the line that has been sitting at the bottom of the spool on the top. Being that its been covered most of the time its like brand new line underneath.
