When totting up the sores this way it is remarkably close between Blur & Suede but even with the extra round Blur would just take the win, unfortunately I judge a band on how often I would listen to any of their output so my actual placings would be Blur, Pulp, Suede & Oasis, I hardly ever listen to either Suede or Oasis these days though that would not have been the case in the nineties... I've never been into loud & brash so much, melodic, jangly and arty is more my thing, I generally tend to go for stripped back & atmospheric... James, Cast, Dodgy, Shed Seven are some of my preferred bands joining my top three... Other bands from the nineties that I love are Crowded House, Del Amitri & The Beautiful South to name a few... Fifties Rockabilly (not for the most part the chart R 'n' R), 60's stuff like Beatles, Kinks, Donovan, CCR & Velvet Underground, Lou Reed, Roxy Music, Bowie, Punk , New Wave, late 70's early 80's electronic music have all had a massive effect on my tastes... Add the likes of Hank Williams, Big Bill Broonzy & Frank Sinatra to complete the picture... R1... Suede - Oasis - Pulp - Blur... R2... Oasis - Suede - Blur - Pulp... R3... Blur - Suede - Oasis - Pulp.. R4... Pulp - Blur - Oasis - Suede... R5... Pulp - Blur - Oasis - Suede... R6... Blur - Pulp - Suede - Oasis... R7... Suede - Blur - Pulp - Oasis... R8... Blur - Suede... Thank you sir. Loved seeing your rankings. I hope it was fun to sit through such nonsense. As I mentioned a few times, the structure is totally flawed. For example, my favourite of all these records, which counts for a whole heck of a lot, is actually Different Class. So Pulp is really tangling with Blur for second place more than it might seem.
@@tokyochuchu I enjoy many of your rankings, you present them really well and am surprised more don't take part... I have two music channels on YT but I'm sure that yours takes a lot more investment and skill, I will always get involved when either you peak my interest or I sort of know what I'm talking about... Suede might not be a band I listen to very much but there is little by them that I dislike... For me it's close between Different Class & 13, Suede & What's The Story take 3rd & 4th but only just...
@@ste.6026 Agreed, I enjoyed these videos a lot, the presentation is really great and very enjoyable even when one disagrees with the order or other things, like it's usually my case, but they're always funny and very entertaining. It's also curious to see how different we all are and how songs you hate can be someone else's favorites and viceversa. Great selection of bands in your list, by the way.
@@Gonzax Thanks, I like Gene too... I think it would be weird if we all liked the same stuff and not very fair on the efforts of the bands full output.. I am not fully versed with most discogs unless it a band or artist I absolutely love so it's always enjoyable and sometimes eye opening to go through their life's work...Have recently come out with more respect and admiration for Blur, Siouxsie & the Banshees, The Jam, The Stranglers & Depeche Mode by taking part in rankings... The Jam & Depeche Mode I previously had little to no interest in... 😀😀😀
I personally love Head Music and Standing in the Shoulder of Giants. Both are great records...and Blur self titled and 13 is a masterpiece. I can't believe you put 3.5 stars to Heathen Chemistry
I was only a casual fan of these bands... My favorite bands from that era are The Verve and Ride. But as far as the Big Four of Britpop goes, I'd rank them like this... 1. Suede 2. Oasis 3. Blur 4. Pulp
I’d say Suede were the best, but only with Bernard Butler, and he was the only virtuoso musician amongst all these bands. Have to say Suede didn’t really fit in with Brit pop because they didn’t have the ‘drinking beer and ‘loaded magazine’ -mindless outlook.
Absolutely the right choice! Bravo!

Ridiculous nonsense indeed 🤣 but it was a fun video.
Everybody knows the best britpop band was Gene, anyway. 😋😀
I do not disagree
Heathen Chemistry better than Blur self-titled?
Nah!
Ranking the bands:
1. Suede or Blur
2. Oasis
3. Pulp
Man I Iove all of them but Pulp.
