  • The Centre for the Humanities & Health and the Centre for Modern Literature & Culture join forces to bring together a novelist, visual artist, and psychoanalyst to discuss Winnicott’s ideas. Deborah Levy, Olivier Castel, and Brett Kahr are in conversation with Kate Shovron, discussing why Winnicott is so popular today? How important is play in today’s culture? What is the relationship between play and creativity?

I think Deborah talking about the string, was also perhaps missing her own babies. And it was rather a phallic tower, singular, very exciting, but it became more balanced, a couple of smaller towers, that got her home, and enabled to provide the food for her daughter. What a wonderful story.

came here in the hope of finding something substantial and credential about donald woods winnicott. but to much disappointment, I came to witness about others' uncertainties, opinions and shallow experiences about playing and reality. it is playing and reality and not play and reality, btw. come on, you guys are doctors and public speakers for a reason. don't make it like a child's play. I felt like I wasted 1:23:03 of my life here. not impressed at all. not in the least.

Probably smart people with helpful things to say, but ultimately very boring talk. It's like all small talk about the subject without actually getting into it.
