I agree. That’s why I’m surprised when whiskey drinkers are like “I only drink the bottle I have open never opening another. “ I’m like wow I couldn’t do that, just depends on what I’m in the mood for! Cheers!
Great review! I like WT 101, rare breed is good. Love Russell’s single barrel. Have been interested in the Rye counterparts. However, I did Just get a bottle of Sagamore Double Oaked and that’s gonna be a tough one to beat for me.
Great content, thank you. Nothing more important than being authentic. Anyone who doesn’t think that peer review or marketing doesn’t factor into their preferences is lying.
Thanks so much Christian. At the end of the day that's all we can do, and we hope the blind format brings some unbiased honesty to the table. Glad you enjoyed and we appreciate you watching!
Really enjoyed this one! Especially liked the "local" shoutout for the Sagamore Spirit! Ironically, another channel I watch released a video of their distillery today. Go Maryland! LOL!
Great content! I just started on my Rare Breed Rye and am in the same boat so far. Meh. Although, I put ice on it and it made it better. Rare Breed & Sagamore Dbl Oaked alllll daaaaayy loooooong. That stuff is amazballs!
You go Erin! Hold Josh accountable to his blind reactions 😅 just watched this after watching the Rare Breed Rye vs Mitcher's Barrel Strength Rye blind and can say your review was quite different and that's crazy how close the reviews were in time! Love the content, keep it up. Would love to see some fun best of 2022 and Christmas/New Years content 👍
Rye is not my jam or maybe I haven't found the right one. Do you have any suggestions? Bulleit, Balcones, Pikeville, High West, Michter's, and Rare Breed have been sampled already.
You’ve been through the gamut! Toasted ryes or any finished rye (port, rum, sherry) are what might do it for you, if anything will. Toasted ryes can often times come across like really flavorful high rye bourbon due to the combo of rye spice and extra sweetness.
Love both of these. Great price point. Wonderful complexity. Single barrel store picks always seem better. Some times Russell 10 year better than single barrel.
I haven’t had the RR Rye, but like the Rarebreed Rye, but it has always been a spicy bugger. It is a mood pour for me for sure, I don’t turn to it a lot. I am going to try a Rare Breed Bourye and see how that is!
I think a slept on rye is the wild turkey rye 101. I purchased the rare breed rye after thinking it would be the same flavor but amplified and it wasn’t. It’s so cheap at $17 you think something is wrong with it but I love it.
I'm right there with TheMNbassHunter - I also have a bottle of Rare Breed Rye that is still unopened. And WT 101 Rye is a good budget option. I tried WT 101 Rye for the first time two weeks ago and compared to WT 101 I think the rye is just a little better. The only Russell's bottle I have is the 10 year. Still unopened. I have a lot more bottles than I want to have open right now. Wait...>Gasp
IMHO, Wild Turkey Rare Breed Rye and Russell’s Single Barrel Rye are not at the same likability levels as their bourbon relatives. I think they are sort of flat in the flavor department, particularly for the proof levels. “So you did your real world scores?” “Yeah.” “Because I wasn’t listening.” The standard mantra of wives. 😅
Fun video. I have a Rare Breed Rye I haven't cracked open yet, but interested to try it. I do have a Russell's Rye single barrel I've been drinking that I quite like. It isn't my favorite, but pretty good. If I'm reaching for Rye on my shelf I usually would pick my Willett 4yr or Knob Creek Rye private barrel over the Russell's. I do think WT101 Rye is a sneaky good budget option though.
I'm always surprised how much my tastes can change from week to week.

I love WTRB rye but never had the Russell’s. Now I’m curious and will have to try it. Love your channel.
Thanks for the kind words! Cheers and Happy Holidays!
8:57 spot on impression of Kira from the Shelf Turds!
Eye roll at 10:32 😂
😂😂
Loved the synchronized sip on glass one at the 1:12 mark. Sagamore DO is my favorite as well. Another great blind!
I picked up a bottle about two months ago and it wasn’t for me. And I like Sagamore. Keeping my eye out for the cognac finished eye.
I was very excited for the RB rye but it just has not hit right for me. I would rather buy the WT 101 rye instead.

“Not trying to cover my tracks ….” Then goes on to try and cover up their tracks. Lol
😂😂 Just saying it’s fair value for what you’re getting, even though they didn’t hit right this day. Cheers and thanks for watching!
wow! Shocked!
Us too. Still can’t believe it. These blinds will do ya dirty sometimes. 😂
@@stuffandwhiskey haha oh I know all too well!!! 😂😅 You guys did great!
I really liked your comments on this one.

Just picked up a bottle of Rare Breed rye today. It was sitting there all alone. I would have bought the Russell's too if there had been one.

We’re covering our “Best of 2022” on this Sunday’s livestream. Hope you can tune in or catch the rewatch. It’s going to be a fun time!

Just not a rue day for Erin
Sometimes you just have those days. Whomp whomp.
I agree with Erin on the Rare Breeds. I am a rye fanboy, but I think that the RB Bourbon is much better than the RB Rye.
Love both of these. Great price point. Wonderful complexity. Single barrel store picks always seem better. Some times Russell 10 year better than single barrel.
Of course speaking of the bourbon. Only drink the Rare Breed version of rye. But seems to be similar?
Good comparison. I prefer the WT 101 rye to the rare breed rye every time.
