Some of it is still not completely understood (e.g. re: dark matter, black holes, etc.). Like Bernie's speculation, early explanations for the motion of celestial objects were also speculative, not hypotheses. See Aristotle's shells, for example. Matt is just superb. Allows the logic to speak volumes.
17:19 is the face you make when you've just spent 17 minutes talking to a guy thinking you're possibly getting somewhere
ANY defense attorney in ANY trial: "Satan could have committed this crime and supernaturally put my client's fingerprints on the murder weapon. Since that's just as likely as anything else you MUST return a verdict of 'not guilty.'"
I don't care if he's a dimwit, Bernie is adorable
JB then you talk to him hours on end about his theory. Knock yourself out with his adorable self.
He does come across as a nice guy just deluded abd highly indoctrinated
@@davidbiagioni8303 there's no evidence he's going to kill people in the name of God. Don't be ridiculous.
Most dimwits are.
I really love Tracie's coined "argument from 'it makes sense to me'"
I wonder why more hosts dont use it
woooo... is Dillahunty losing weight?! I hope very much it's by design and that he's ok!!
And this, ladies and gentlemen, is the result of the US educational system.
"I have a theory...and I don’t know how to test it."
This is utter stupidity...and only could come from a religious dude. Not surprisingly.
Not really.
He's just misunderstanding the difference between our collquial usage of "theory" and scientific "theory". He's not stupid per say, he just needs to educate himself further
To be fair I heard the word theory used in same context in nature documentaries on T.V.
Those darn pixies!
Explanations are not facts. They can be 'explained' only by never-ending other 'explanations'. In other words, what is unknowable remains forever unknown if we are satisfied by mere 'explanations'.
Clergy, eg, have been 'explaining' God [an 'explanation'] and their 'explanations' for at least 4 millennia and they may not ever give up this addiction.
Or trickery. You know that these people depend on their church members to live.
@@kelthekonqrr 'Explaining' what cannot ever be 'explained' brings also a steady and well paid jobs. To make matters even worse for sanity or sane thinking, most believers rather learn about God from clergy than from God. But are they wrong? You be the judge.
@@bozhidarbalkas7269 hence- Kent Hovind has a huge parcel of land, a house and multuple people supporting his easily debunked "explanations" of why science is wrong. even other YEC's call him a fraud yet the checks still roll in
Bozhidar Balkas
How did you determine that something can never be known ? Are you psychic ?
That would be cool !
Easily the best caller yet! Good work you sir @switch1eighty
Trolling?
Unfortunately, not. This guy is dead serious in his thinking. Whether or not he's being a moral thug is a different story.
Punctuated equilibrium explains quick, sudden changes.
Poor Bernie! He is worse than Bernie Sanders! ha ha ha ha
"quicker" periods of evolution can be explained in many ways - the rate of mutation is influenced by factors such as activity of the Sun (more UV radiation = more mutations).
your studio looks AWESOME
At least he admitted he wasn’t sure at some parts, many people would have just doubled down.
All watermelons are blue until we break the skin: prove me wrong. Lol
Matt is the only American with a proper understanding of English.
