Hi Ed, aww thank u so much, that is so kind of you to say. lol yes Cecil is super funny🤣...he says thanks and that you are welcome. Hope you have an awesome day. Take care😀
@@homesteadcookingwiththeski3852 We are very well. No virus for us. We are enjoying watching all the work you and other UA-camrs are doing. Looking forward to your Tuesday night live streams.
@@homesteadcookingwiththeski3852 Doing pretty good. Thanks for asking. Trying to cope with the new surge in COVID around here. Taking all precautions to stay healthy and keep my parents healthy, too. We’ve had a few storms that finally dropped some rain on us. Has been dry for a spell. Looks like the apples in our orchard should come on pretty strong this year. A lot fewer bugs than we have seen for some time. Your pole barn build looks like it is coming along well. Wish I was local and able to give you guys a hand! It will be great to see Cecil get an indoor space to work out of the weather. I’m sure a well lit shop with lots of room and a wood stove with a circulating fan will be a welcome change from kneeling in the snow at 20 below with the wind rattling his teeth! Be safe, be aware and have fun! Cheers! Whipple
Thanks for the reply. Glad to see you guys are doing pretty good Whipple. Yeah, the spikes going on in certain states is pretty scary for sure. We hope you and all your family manage to stay stay healthy and covid free. That is so great about your apples. What kind(s) do you guys grow? I think we have all your guys bugs lol. We didnt have much for mosquitos and blackflies but it seems like there was a huge surge in the others. We thank you about the kind pole barn offer. Yes, you are so right...it will be so great for Cecil to have a place out of the cold to work. The slow part is getting the floor joists up. Once there all done it will pick up pace. I can cut the 1 inch flooring while Cecil nails it down. Thank you so much for watching and commenting. Wishing you all health, happiness and peace. Take care
@@homesteadcookingwiththeski3852 We had a great crop of Lodi (also called July apples or Yellow Transparents). Next to come on are our Summer Rambo. Then the Baldwins, and Grimes Golden will start ripening. After that it’s Galas, McIntosh, and Gold Rush. We lost about a dozen trees to root rot over the last few years. Down to only 14 trees now. 12 are dwarf trees and two rooted over the root graft and are now standard sized trees. The Lodi, Summer Rambo and Gold Rush are my favorites. Excellent for sauce and they make the best pies and crisps. Baldwins are great for baked apples and the Grimes Golden are an old time apple that my grandmother used to dry for keeping into the winter. It’s an all round apple good for eating out of hand, sauce, pies and drying.
Wow, that is so awesome you have so many trees. You guys have so many different varieties, I actually haven't heard of a few of them haha. So sorry you guys had issues with root rot :( . It sucks so bad when you put in the effort and plants and trees still struggle and die. We want to eventually put some apple trees here. We will have to pick your brain for some growing tips. We had a few apple and cherry trees years ago but i think they were planted in too wet of a spot cause they died. Our favorites are honey crisp (but they are super pricey here so we only buy when on sale), macintosh and red and yellow delicious. Would love to try and grow a few of the kinds we like but i don't know if they would survive here. I will have to check out there zones. We hope you guys thoroughly enjoy your bountiful apple supply. Take care.
