Pinarello Dogma: The Most Successful Race Bike in Modern History
Вставка
- Опубліковано 15 жов 2024
- The Dogma is a modern design classic. Over the years it has gotten much more aero, a lot stiffer and a bit lighter, though weight has never been the primary focus for the Italian company
Following the recent launch of the latest Dogma F, I got the very lucky opportunity to look at how the Dogma has evolved over the past ten years from the Dogma 2 launched way back in 2011 through the transformation with the introduction of the F8 in 2014, and how much the new Dogma F really owes to the bikes that came before it

F8 is the cleanest, most balanced looking of the lot. Put some direct mount rim brakes (i know it can’t take them) and you’re set!
The 65.1 was the prettiest. Loved the dogma 2 also
you know, when the F8 came out, everyone was selling their 60 and 65 off, and since then ive been wanting an F series... but the longer i hold onto my 6 series, the more i think i will keep it for the rest of my life!
The most aesthetically pleasing bike ever made.
For me the dogma F8 still stunning 😍
Really nice work David to get access to a collection like that! One of my friends has the F12 with SRAM Red eTap and although he loves the bike he says his next will be a Colnago. I must admit Pinarello never did it for me but I do appreciate how they've built a huge reputation based on performance of Team Sky / INEOS and the price tag makes them very exclusive, that adds to the mystique around the brand too.
Not my cup of tea but if I had to go for one it's be the new F and build out the frameset with campy groupset and wheels.
That is a great indepth look at the history of the spectacular Pinarello Dogma for us in the general public. Probably the only analysis of it's kind on youtube. Well done!
Pinarello bikes are pieces of art!
I'm going to make room for an old but gold F8 in my stable. I think it's a design icon.... the lines on a 51.5 frame is stunning.
Amazing how Pinarello constantly followed its ideal to have one bike to rule every terrain being both: focussed on the passion of cycling and ahead of time.
Love my F8, it was a radical change from previous incarnations and love riding it. Rest of the F range are just tweaks to me of a design that was already close to perfection.
My F8 is still stunning
And compatible with more components.
F8 as I own one and love it 😍
David thank you for such a great channel.
I ride an F10 with rim brakes. My forever bike!
Like Porsches, the latest is always the best, might not be the best looking, but always improving on the previous. I have a 2000 Pinarello Prince SL the top of the range back then. Never felt the need to buy a new bike I loved the geometry, looks , feel, everything of my Prince. This week I just bought a new bike, the Dogma F, the first new Pinarello which stole my heart.
How many miles on your Prince?
Pinarello ahead of its time in bike optics.
Was ahead 7 years ago, today they look a bit outdated
@@stanislavkindiakov6334 Except they don't.
F10 is the nicest, only wish it would have had direct mount rim brakes already.
It'd be the perfect Pinarello road bike if it had them.
got to love the modern one's TBH I'd go with the new Pin-F the design is just absolute perfection I want to try one right now.
Pinarello é incrível.
Been thinking of getting a 65.1 think 2, What's your experience with it, Looking to make a fast and light bike to add to my little collection, loved the cured fork on those, some good colorways too.
Wow the bottom bracket isnt gonna flex when you sprint. Thats exactly the same marketingphrase Scott used to sell me my Foil back in 2012!
David, you know you like rim brakes really 😀 and they did work perfectly fine for 100 years!
Well, they were used for 100 years because nobody had developed a better solution. Now they have :)
First! Truly are stunning bikes, confident I will purchase one again. Only had the GAN previously, but enjoyed the ride. Currently ride the 3T strada (purchased on the back of your review). Italians do the make the best bicycles. Keep up the good work, david.
Great work David. I have a question though. I know the F is only compatible to electronic groupsets. Is it compatible with the Dura Ace 11 speed Di2 (9170), or just the new 12 speed? Thanks
The Pinarello F, since I ordered mine about a month and a half ago.
No camy group set ?
I’d go for the new F, for sure. What a bad-ass machine!
Unfortunately Dogma F didn't win any of the stages in 2021 Tour de France.
i just ordered a my way di2 disc about a month ago. thats the one i want
F10 is my favorite
Dogmas are looking better every year! Too bad my wallet isn't
the 65.1 think 2 with the campagnolo 80th anniversary group on it is exactly the same as the one valverde rode at movistar. except the wheels, his had the 80th anniversary bora wheels too
F12 looks better than F in my opinion
The bike of choice for Sunday morning Rapha clad London Parks tossers lol
I would take the F10 with rim brake. It’s the most iconic due to all those TDF wins. Oh btw those “old rim brake things” were chosen by Pogacar to win his 2 stages of the Tour this year
And that makes rim brakes better how?
@@mihalis1010 ask Pogacar but I think you know the answer
I would just buy the frameset and build it up with aluminium wheels & shimano 105 groupset just to piss people off haha
All jokes aside Pinarello really know how to make a good looking bike
Go for Claris!
@@stanislavkindiakov6334 hahahaha 🤣, that would annoy the crap out of everyone! Sounds like a plan
@@MJarthur95 especially if you ride faster, than guys with di2 ;)
Why no mention of the asymmetric design
how bad are rim brakes with carbon rims in wet/damp conditions ? s it completely no-go ? Imagine i'm riding in a cloud or fog (no rain but everything is wet), can i stop my bike? or for first 10 meters brakes don't slow down the bike ?
depends on the brake pads you use
@@paulhowell7103 yep, i guess it depends, but some ppl say it's really bad (when it's wet/damp - like no power at all) and i want learn about it, before making an upgrade
@@razorree If you're really worried about stopping in the wet just buy a set of wheels like the HED Jets or Bontrager Auras. They have aluminum rims with carbon farings. I use HED jet 4s for climbing days. Aero benefits and no worries about stopping power on the descents, much cheaper than "upgrading" my Dura Ace bike and groupset from rim to disk.
It just hurts seeing a SRAM groupset in this amazing bike!
...Why?
I guess cause of the conflict between Taiwan where the groupset is made, and China where the frame is made?
Loving my Sram red👌🏿
The frame sets as well as some of the carbon components are made in Taiwan. I already have a Grevel with Campagnolo 1 x 13 EKAR for the past couple of years, and have on order now a Dogma F with Campagnolo SuperRecord wireless, Campagnolo Shamal Carbon wheel set with Vittoria N.EXT tubeless. It will have the Speedster Silver paint job. The frame prep and painting is done by Pinarello in Italy. @@galenkehler
I’ll have the new F thanks 🤗
Is it still that asymmetric seatstay?
if the only frameset of the new F model costs 5,300 pounds why does the f12 cost you the same just for the frameset? why there are still f8 and f10 costing 5,000 pounds for the frameset only why they don't reduce the prices of the oldest model...
The new F!!!
Im into the f8, with rim brakes but i dont know about the di2, i want pure mechanical
Let's be honest for 15,000squid I'd expect it to come with at least 3 years of subscription to Pogacar's medical team. Does it though?
F12 rim brake with Campagnolo
Picking mine up on Monday with rim and ultegra with Hunt Carbons. Can't wait.
@@robertmorrice1655 what a bike it would be 🤩 congratulations man
@@robertmorrice1655 How is it?
@@manutavano only been on it once.So I've yet to decide.
Joe’s bike collection
F12 for me please
The 65.2
either the dogma f or think 2
F8 X-light
F10... old fashioned rim brakes... LOL
F12 please
F12 pleaseeee :)
What’s going on with the bottle cages at 8:25? Too much effort to fit properly…
If that’s your only criticism I’ll take it! ;) I film these all myself so lots to remember to do and clearly I didn’t realise I hadn’t put the bottles back in correctly. I’ll try harder next time 😎😂
@@davidarthur Sorry, this wasn’t a critique of your bottle placement, more a tongue in cheek comment at whomever attached the cages when building the bike 😁 didn’t look like the bottles would have fitted.
Great video 👍🏻
Since F8 no essential change is visible
I'll take the 65.1. f10, f12 and the f, ugly, and i wont feel that few% aero improvement. and tell me, who can flex a dogma2?
I don’t find the new chunky tube profiles attractive.
They really are marmite bikes !
Unfortunately Dogma F didn't win any of the stages in 2021 Tour de France.
Just won the Olympics though.
pinarello has become a football jersey frameset - changes each year for the most have brigade. The bars remined me of something from Alibaba ! Total waste of money
Paint job is worst ( but cheaper to produce) every new edition . Shame , greed I guess.
any non carbon dogma?
LOL
They do have the magnesium one but decided to focus on the carbon ones
@@davidarthur i thought you gonna show the mag one too!!!
That was a stiffest one
Lol
Super stiff uncomfort
@@cannon1156 thanks for sharing dude!
My favourite bike. I would rather that than an S WORKS any day. Unfortunately it’s far too expensive.
Those bikes aren't going to make u faster it's s the person riding it if u have week skinny legs and lack stamina u will lose to a guy on 1000 Dollar bike
People forget buying a 10,000 dollar bike isn't going to make u faster it's the person riding it
I bet it's better than your lack of punctuation.

Beautiful BUT way overpriced. I tell myself “DON’T TRY TO BUY WHAT THE PRO RACERS USE” they are sponsored by corporations.
