Roy was extremely intrusive, and very discouraging towards his aspiration of being a writer. She hides behind a veil of normalcy, but she is wicked bitch, whose interactions with Cho, deserve further investigation. Roy should be held liable, at least, because she had knowledge of Cho's problems, without forwarding them properly, and continuing to socially interact with the severely troubled student, without any psychiatric training.
I don't know if I can agree with you on that. Professor Roy is obviously from the United Kingdom. The BRITISH ATTITUDE DEMANDS HIGH STANDARDS and I have seen that in real life! Many years ago, as a student of a highly ranked college, who had high ratings for their chemistry and biology departments, there was a OLD SCHOOL, BRITISH PROFESSOR of chemistry, & HE WAS A GENIUS IN HIS ACADEMIC FIELD. One American female student was sick and missed several class lectures and a couple weeks of lab work. She asked her lab professor if she could have a little time to catch up. The British professor said to her that she was so far behind that she really should just give up and drop out of that intro chemistry course. She was hurt by his comments. I told her to switch over to the American lab professor, who had more patience and levity. She did and sure enough, the American lab professor was far more understanding and patient with her. He gave her ample time to catch up and she did and passed that General Chemistry course! I was so glad that she took my advice. I believe that Professor Lucinda Roy had high standards and demanded discipline and good manners. Cho Seung Hui did not meet up to those standards, and she showed her disappointment in his lack of interest in improving his own academic standards and personal behavior to a higher level. You cannot blame the tragedy on the professor. I believe that Cho Seung Hui was truly demon possessed and viewed himself as Ax-Ishmael, a lone wolf, renegade Islamic fighter against the oppression of opulent, corrupt, western imperialists trying to exploit the Muslim peoples. This gave him a sense of importance and identity. I believe that he was psychotic and lost and no longer realized that he was a Korean guy! In reality, he was not an Arab Muslim. Nobody oppressed him. Nobody picked on him. He was certainly not a real Christian! He was, in my opinion, controlled by Satan and part of Satan's synagogue of evil!
Such an dumb take, did you even watch the video? She can't force anybody to seek help, whole email chain surrounding Cho is available on internet, she alerted everyone she needed and took it seriously. Once Cho was suicidal in his dorm and was taken to hospital, problem were known but of course it's whole different thing to be depressed/suicidal than homicidal. It's just too easy to play "smart" after the incident and accuse everyone involved.
