    Great video Kenny! Where do you get Dr.Dryden's? At SCP (superior pool products)?

      You can get it there yes. And you can also find a store that carries it through Maytronics website (I believe they're the official distributor of it). Here's a link to their website: www.maytronics.com/en-us/water-care.html

    The only time I have a green pool is when I first open it in May (Northeast PA). I have a mesh cover that allows rain and snow melt in and also let's the sun hit the water to promote Algae growth. I even put two bottles of Algaecide in in February (30,000 gallon pool) and doesn't seem to help. I have to go through two BAGS of DE and all the associated backwashes before the pool is clear and the DE filter is good for the whole season. I'm seriously considering a solid cover as the mesh cover has seen better days. Any thoughts on solid cover vs mesh cover to reduce my green pool openings? Thanks.

      Unfortunately in my part of AZ we don't have to close down our pools for the winter so I probably don't have much credible info to offer on that subject. My apologies.

    is there a video on how or where to increase the strength of the jets (no idea what the right word is!) when the filter is on? mine seems less powerful when I feel it in the pool & I think that might be causing me to have more algae than normal. I have a triton II installed in 2012. thanks! meg

      There are a couple of reasons why you may be getting reduced return flow to your pool. #1. Clogged impeller or full pump basket (this video shows how to empty and clear: ua-cam.com/video/sHfHfgpEeto/v-deo.html )
      #2. You may need to clean your filter media (cartridge, Sand or DE). I do have videos on each but would need to know your filter type.
      #3. You have valve to the returns closed and/or too much return flow to another place. This video on understanding the return side of your video will help you identify your return port (and other) return valves: ua-cam.com/video/d1cjwlnxvo8/v-deo.html
      #4. Your pump motor speed is too low. Most new pumps/motors are variable speed and if your pump is running on low speed it may seem like less return flow.
      It could also be a combination of any of these. Hope this helps

    Hello Kenny, off topic a little but wanted to know if Simple Green cleaner is ok to use to clean cartridge filters?

    • @PoolSchooler
      @PoolSchooler  Рік тому +1

      Actually, it is, I know a guy who has a pool service and pool repair company that uses it on cartridges when he cleans them and loves it. It’s phosphate, free and organic so I don’t see a problem with it at all.

    I have a DE filter and can’t get good answers anywhere. After running the filter for about 10-12 hours my PSI goes up to 30 and I get no circulation and power from the return jets. I recently took the grids to wash them completely, put back the recommended DE to fully charge it. After backwashing I put in roughly 1-1.5 pounds. Nothing seems to be working and I keep getting algae in the pool as my free chlorine just won’t come up. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

    • @PoolSchooler
      @PoolSchooler  Рік тому

      Hmmmm is your pool cloudy as well? Because there’s a very good possibility that there is DE in your pool. Typically that’s caused by torn grids, or some kind of issue with the manifold or how they were installed after cleaning them. I did a video on this subject that may help. Here's a link: ua-cam.com/video/Khkr02ZTqlI/v-deo.html
      This one may also help, it's similar to the first one: ua-cam.com/video/x4MkD2yksgg/v-deo.html

      How big is your pool? The DE filter for my 30,000 gallon pool takes 5.5 lbs of DE to charge it. Wondering if your not putting enough in?

    • @PoolSchooler
      @PoolSchooler  Рік тому

      @@terryclarence1209 basically I put a pound of DE in for every 10 square feet of filtration area.

    I had issues with the pump not priming. The problem was that I didn’t closed the filter pump lid tide enough once I turned it a few more times it started priming. That sucker had to be really closed.

    • @PoolSchooler
      @PoolSchooler  Рік тому +1

      Hmm. typically a pump lid shouldn't have to be on too tight. You may have a bad lid o'ring or a crack in the lid. NOTE the more you tighten the pump lid the more you will flatten out the lid's o'ring.

    If my levels are PH, Bromine, and alkalinity are high, and it looks cloudy and a bit green, should I lower the levels or put more algacide? I shocked it and let it run for 24 hours, then added algacide and ran it for 24 hours. It was very bad. Now I am lost on what to do.

    • @PoolSchooler

      Start with draining the rest of the water in the pool. You may need to do an acid wash of the pool (if it's plaster) I assume the pump and filter etc are all clean and in good working condition. Then refill the pool and do a start up chemical service on it, and get the pump running at least 7-8 hours a day daily and you should be good to go with weekly etc maintenance. Here's a link to my video on Start Up Chemicals and how to add them: ua-cam.com/video/1a4a2PGQc5E/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared
