The easiest thing in this world is learning all these incredible methods from the genius that is Kenny Gioia. The hardest thing in this world is "remembering" how to do them in the future!!! Thanks Kenny!!!
I am about to record a song that moves between 4/4 and 6/8 and have, literally in the last few days, been wondering how to manage this in Reaper. Fantastic timing from my perspective, and brilliantly communicated as always. If anyone asks me why I use Reaper, I tell them that Reaper has a secret weapon - called Kenny Gioia.
I had trouble with Reaper and compound meter when I first started to use Reaper a few years ago. 6/8 isn't grouped properly in Reaper. 6/8 is duple-compound meter, and should be TWO beats per measure with dotted quarter notes receiving one beat and the subdivisions are eighth notes (three per primary beat unit). If I want 6/8 time in Reaper, I open the "Tempo/Time Signature Marker" dialogue window (Shift+C) and I set the time signature to 2/4 and set the "metronome pattern" to "TT," making the "primary" and "secondary" beats "T" for triplet. If I want 9/8, I set the time signature to 3/4 and set the metronome pattern to: "TTT." 12/8 = 4/4 & TTTT. Obviously, the BPM has to be adjusted, but all works well after doing this. You may want to make a video about this. I would be happy to, but I'm afraid my videos are viewed by a MUCH smaller audience than yours! Keep up the great work Kenny.
I am just now looking into using Reaper to set create percussion tracks to import into my Zoom L8. The biggest problem for me artistically has getting the tempo tracks to record over. I've considered just getting a drummer and bass player to get my songs started. Alternatively, I just count time and play through. Thanks for sharing!
Good one. Since I don't do this on a daily basis, anytime I need a refresher I just go to Kenny and look for whatever I need. It usually only takes a few minutes and then I'm ready to go. Thanks Kenny
It's easy to map out tempo changes and time signature changes in Reaper, however, I've experienced lots of problems bringing drum loops in with the Drumcore plugin. It stays glued to the tempo from the 1st measure. I'd love to get it figured out!
Thanks for this. Now, is there a way to copy time signature changes. Let's say I want 3 bars of 6/8 followed by one bar of 7/8 and repeat this over and over. I can render a stem for the click track, and copy. This works, but then the grids are all messed up because they are still in 7/8. I'm working with a band recording this sequence and we need a click track that's about 3 minutes with this sequence. Please advise.
Kenny, quick question: is there any way I can do this? : I want to have 2 tracks (or 2 folder tracks) and move one volume slider and the other track move in the oposite way, I mean I turn up volume in track A and the volume in track B turn down just like a mirror in the opositive way. Thanks!
Kenny, how dud you move everything at one time, I've had to move things around and always move each each one separate and it takes way too much time to reposition them.
is there a way to have the set tempo box disabled by default? when you work on a song that has a lot of time signature changes, it gets very annoying everytime having to disable it

Excellent. Now how about something on ODD time signatures, e.g. 5/4, 7/8 etc :)
Same thing. And 3/4 is odd. LOL

Select all?

Good day Master in reaper, how to know the BPM in a raw song
First!
