You introduced this video by saying you get a lot of requests for this and I agree. I'm a college photography professor and my students CRAVE these wonderful effects. Young girls completely understand that the fashion industry is all about the illusion and the fantasy - there is nothing unethical about it. Keep up the great work!
There is also a very big difference between extreme retouching for the purpose of creating an altered state of reality(such as this case), and retouching to the extreme and passing it off AS reality (which is what many magazines and editorials do). The line, in my opinion, is drawn when you pass the "I dont know if this is real or not" point.
i'm a fan of photomanipulations as i love doing fantasy posters and such using real models. this actually helps me alot in some ways as part of the gothic look that i'm often aiming. i guess it really depends on where one uses this type of technique. not necessarily to phototouchups. i can see a wide range of use for this technique other than well what most people think about this.
You can only use Liquify on Smart Objects if you're running CS6 13.1 or higher. This versions was only available to Creative Cloud users. Otherwise, you can duplicate/merge the layers, then add the filter to that new layer.
Hi, thanks for this tutorial, although I am Spanish I have played very well. I just had to follow the step, it was not very complex, but it's something I wanted to learn, I have watched several tutorials and none has given me this result. Thank you very much.
I'm not a big fan of extreme photo retouching, but that seems to be the nature of the industry. As long as Photoshop exists, models will be retouched until they're near 'perfect'. I do like the 'middle ground', though. A little but of retouching to remove a few blemishes doesn't hurt.
There are several suggestions worth trying Try Honey - it helps bleach skin and also acting as a moisturizing agent. Dry skin is a factor that contributes to an uneven skin tone. Honey also has antibacterial properties that may help fade age spots and acne scars. Use Lemons -the acidic property in lemons works as a natural bleaching agent for the skin and the high amount of vitamin C in them encourages new cell growth. Also, lemons have antioxidants that are very good for skin complexion. Apply Aloe vera - this can alleviate hyperpigmentation and restore your skin’s original color. Hyperpigmentation is one of the biggest causes of uneven skin tone. (I learned these and the reasons they work on Nakedra lighter method website )
When I was a child, a very long time ago, children had a thing, like a feeling. Its long lost now, it seems. It was called common sense, and it helped us to see a possible future of things like starving to death if we didnt eat, or living a lonely over 40's life if we got too many tattoos. We knew then than branding lasted for life, just like on a cow, and that if you stayed in the sun too much your skin would cook to leather, just like on a cow. Wow, I miss those days.
Hey Howard, why not just use a gradient mesh? That would work on blacks too. Also did you know you can change the brush size by just holding Alt+left mb and left/right drag? By dragging up and down you change the softness.
How About another tutorial using blend modes, lab colorspaces and other nice tools to turn the skin color to a specific pantone color with regard to luminosity?
I have a challenge for you Howard. can you turn a face or head to wax like wax museums. (to be honest, I tried to find anything online of how to do this but I was not lucky. the closest to wax was this video about porcelain effect) Thank you.
Also, it seems as if the pink skin tones might be coming through a bit too much. Is that just me? Would a desaturate adjustment layer add to the look, or cheapen it? Not sure.
I am having some problems. After I selected all the layers and clicked smart object it created the layer but when I go to select liquify it isnt clickable. Please help I am using CS6 extended.
you can always do a small amount of scaling though not too much, for ex. if you have a 5000 x 5000 image, don't expect to scale well to 10,000 x 10,000, it would pixelate. 7000 x 7000x could be acceptable.
Excellent Tut bro.. Clear, concise, excellent effect easily followed. Keen to find out a technique for getting a nice clear effect on glasses lenses much like in your channel header. Thoughts?
Could you do a quick tutorial on: I have an image 100% created in photoshop, and I have the PSD. Is it possible to increase the size of the image? while keeping the quality?
Usually not. Anytime you increase the size of an image, you're going to get pixelation. There are 'sharpening' methods, but you're always going to lose a bit of quality.
I would like to know how to make a photo a "Glamor Shot" like they use in "Toddlers and Tiaras". I wanted to do them for my granddaughter and not have to pay someone else to do so. Thank you.
Thank you for this tutorial but when I convert all my layers to to a smart object, I am unable to use the liquify filter......can't figure out why......would you have any idea?
How can you used liquify when the images is a smart object? When I try, after to made it a smart object my liquify is inactivated? :-) I hope you can help me :o)

FINALLY SOMEONE WHO CAN TEACH ME AND I UNDERSTAND WHAT THEY'RE SAYING

Fair skin is beautiful but beauty comes in all shades and sizes❤
Refine Edge is the best thing since sliced bread! Awesome tutorial
Nice Tut Howard. You articulate well for my almost deaf ears. All your tutorials are nicely composed. Thank you

so much interesting the using of a solid color in soft light to create the porcelain effect!
i'm a fan of photomanipulations as i love doing fantasy posters and such using real models. this actually helps me alot in some ways as part of the gothic look that i'm often aiming.

Very nice video. I'm still using PSCS5, but enjoy all your tutorials.
I love that affect. Thanks for the tutorial!
Would have been cool to see you attempt to put in the texture of porcelain with the small spiderwebbed cracks.
Love ur tutorials. They are the right length and super useful

Disregard the dislikes. My regret is I wish I could live to be 250 so I can eventually be as skilled....if not better.. than HOWARD.
