I just want to say thank you for this video. I just finished my first music video and will be posting it in 3 or 4 months from now and I scoured UA-cam for everything I could on music marketing but couldn’t find anything clear on the step by step process of registering your work. This is the only video on the internet like this and it’s so thorough. Its very Niche and only music artists are going to be able to use the information but for an artist, it’s priceless. I will be buying your book on the registration process. Thank you so much for this video..
When I made this video in 2021 I didn’t have information about MLC. If you subscribe to the channel you’ll see update information explaining how to register with MLC
AWESOME! Thank you. And how do you know which of your songs to put on Songtrust or not. I'm thinking of Self Publishing but I wanted to know what the workload would look like before I decide to leave Songtrust. Hope that made sense. Just bought your HITCHHIKER'S GUIDE!
Have you done one about SoundMouse? I just found out that you have to register with them because in 2017 ASCAP relinquished responsibility for tracking certain kinds of uses on radio and one of them is advertisements. I had a song used on a radio commercial here in Florida for at least several years but I did not receive any payments for it. That's how I figured out about soundmouse. The other problem is that because the track was one that was published by a large publisher it is up to them to have kept track of this. They appeared to do their part in registering the track with soundmouse but I cannot get information about the commercial or specific information about the registration or any radio uses because they control account that the track resides in. ASCAP just directs me to soundmouse but soundmouse didn't provide the data to ascap but I also don't know if the data was recorded properly because the publisher is very large and very slow to get the situation sorted
That’s not correct about soundmouse. If your song was on radio and you wasn’t paid that’s another issue. If you would like me to take a look into your situation we can set up a call and get your more information
@@igobyneqThey just closed 3 of my inquiries trying to get them to sort this. They are blaming soundmouse and I'm not sure what's up there because it's an APM track but they did register it in 2012. There is another issue where they have not payed for a usage for my track on an "opening theme" for chopped sweets for 2 seasons because they never supplied the cue sheets to ASCAP....this is a repeat issue. lol
Hey Thanks for this information! I am not sure if this is intentional but your iportal does not look the same as in this video and provides no links as mentioned in the video
Yes we are aware. We have some new things rolling out from out Tunecore brand deal soon. I am encouraging everyone to get a copy of my book www.igobyneq.com/shop/the-hitchhikers-guide-to-releasing-music
If BMI does my publishing.. Meaning if i never actually got a publish company & Bmi collects that for me what should i put under the "publishers" tab where you put igoby publishing?. Thats the only part im confused on
Pick up a copy of the book. It gives you all the links and emails you need to fully register and release your music www.igobyneq.com/shop/the-hitchhikers-guide-to-releasing-music
Is it the same process if I do it from Europe, let's say from Germany? Are these steps to be taken also for international song release ? Thank You for your work.
The international process is kinda different but the names of the royalties that need to be collected is the same. If a performance organization in your country and find a mechanical rights collection society
Hello! I just uploading with music distributor and that's it. Does it needed, all these steps for more income or making rights for music? I heard about ASCAP and BMI, but I think all of these further steps are not for non-US or Canada citizens. If I live live in "3-rd world country" or some of the unwanted countries, idk, which are typically harassed by no means nowadays, then it's simply not working for me, right?

You should do some research about how to start a distribution company. It requires web design, coding and also a foundation for getting artists music in stores.
Irsc and upc come from your digital music distribution company distrokid tunecore cdbaby amuse United masters etc once you up load your release they will issue you those 2 numbers irsc and upc ascap or BMI issues a iswc. UA-cam is chalk full of info

Question: for the esong template why did you leave those other areas blank?
You are a badass, thx for such important info 😉
Great video! Songtrust takes 15%
That’s not bad seeing as though there aren’t many options for worldwide royalty collection for independent artists
@@igobyneq Nope it's not bad at all
maybe you forgot a step: the registration of the song on THE MLC, am I right?
