- SoundExchange is a non-profit collective rights management organization. It is the sole organization designated by the U.S. Congress to collect and distribute digital performance royalties for sound recordings.
It is important to know that SoundExchange is not collecting the same royalties as Performing Rights Organizations (ASCAP, BMI and SESAC)

I wonder if you can answer this question. I paid a singer to sing the chorus. They gave me the "commercial use" for the song when I paid them. Is the singer who sang the chorus entitled to money from sound exchange or do I claim their performance because I paid for the "commercial use?"

I do have a couple of questions...
1. If I have original music copyrighted under Form PA (Performing Arts) and not Form SR (Sound Recording), will my tracks still be legally secured and considered as "sound recordings" on these various platforms?
2. Will my music still be protected under Copyright if I publicize it, after first registering it as "Unpublished Works"?...or would I need to re-register my songs under "Published Works" if I intend for them to become public...

I Made that kind of question last month (septembre 2023) calling with an agent in Copyright Office and the Answer was, that my melody and/or lyrics is Copyright secured instantly once I made de process as a Performing arts.

Yes they do! SoundExchange works with international societies and collect on behalf of their members!
Do I have to create a music publishing company to collect from soundexchange? Or is the soundexchange service in place of me creating a music publishing company?
You can join SoundExchange as an individual and collect your royalties. If you do music distribution through CdBaby, Tunecore, Distrokit or other aggregators, they might also collect on behalf of you from SoundExchange.
What is Song trust
Question? Is the sound recording/copywrite owner considered a songwriter or producer? And last question, is the performer considered a vocalist? Excuse my ignorance, I write and sing my own songs and just wanted to know if I am on the right track while filling this out. Thanks in advance.

There's nothing ignorant about you at all. Those are good questions that your asked. You are both the performer and the owner of your music especially if you composed your music and you are the writer as well. I just received my first royalty check today from SoundExchange as both the artist and the owners rights. Being independent is the way to go today.

Question: If I produced a track and had a number of artiste write a song on the same track for individual projects can I claim Master owner of the tracks? If so How do I register with Sound Exchange for that?
If you are the one releasing (distributing to Spotify, Pandora etc.) then song than you are the Master Owner, you would need to agree with the artists on that.

It is best to always ask the owner first.
