I know what you mean. My wife passed on July 4th of this year. We were married for a little over a year and this song was in one of our favorite movies we saw together. It reached into my heart today. It's a part of our time together.
As I get older I begin to think of songs I want at my funeral. I first heard this song in 1984 at a funeral for a friend of mine. I knew then it would be at mine the Lord willing. The story it tells is so fitting.

I really love this song. It's exactly the message I need. It just says that the road to our Heavenly Father's presence is very difficult. True followers of Christ will always find themselves in a battle everyday. Let's éndure our afflictions. They may be mental, physical, emotional or spiritual. Our trials shape us and prepare us to meet Him someday.

What a beautiful rendition. I love to see the Recorder getting used. It's such a beautiful and underused instrument. I love it. But I might be biased, because I play it too. I get tired of people making fun of it. This is a beautiful song that helps to show how moving they can be when played correctly.
I feel a deep connection to god when listening to this version, the spirit of it is solemn and invites introspection, which I like when it comes to this song
