Rebecca, I've got a question about sentence #1. What if I DON'T mention the objective pronoun right after the verb? For example, I called later that night TO MY FRIEND. So now, in this case, I do need to use the preposition TO because the objective pronoun doesn't come right after the verb, isn't that right?! EDIT: I don't get why ABOUT can't be used with the verb to discuss. I got the idea, you mentioned a noun, the project. But what if, after the verb I mention a specific subject? For example, "We discussed ABOUT the party" sounds better than _We discussed the party._ Am I seeing things wrongly?
I love you, teacher Rebecca. You are the best teacher in my life. You had changed my life since 2021. I was learning with you on UA-cam for 6 months without any teacher. I know all tenses now, past, present and future. Thank you so much.

I watched a lot of videos which were walking about prepositions in English, but believe me I didn't understand even a little bit till I found this amazing tutor, I am in fond of her smiling while she is teaching. she makes me confident. thank you for your time I really appreciate it, i owe you one. but I have a request, would you please make a video about passive and active sound in present perfect.
Thanks, Rebecca for this helpful lesson. By watching and trying to shadow your explanation simultaneously, I think my feelings of English is improving. I think watching engVid videos regularly is like eating healthy food for our English.
I 'm from Ethiopia. I taught English for six years. I like Rebecca's lesson very much. Interesting! As she said some verbs do not normally take a preposition after them because they have the meaning of the preposition within themselves. However, there are exceptions, for instance, the word discussion (n.) takes a preposition (about).

@@laurawolfe154 You are right. In the sentence "She is a single unmarried woman", the word "unmarried" is redundant. In the sentence 'We discussed about the matter', the word 'about' is redundant. So we should say 'She is a single woman' and 'We discussed the matter'.
We can use 'about' after 'discussion', not after 'discuss'. 'Discuss' is a verb while 'discussion' is a noun. We discussed the matter. We had a discussion 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 the matter.

correct!
Umm..... nope.
You are a great teacher, Ms. Rebecca; absolutely no doubt about it. Who says that humanity is dying; there are people like her around.
Thanks, I always use “discuss about”, hahahah
It seems correct though. Hahaha
I also 🤣
Discuss = talk about, write about.
Saying "about" after "discuss" is redundant and it sounds awkward.
@@laurawolfe154
You are right.
