Culex's whole deal was that he was a 2D character who can't exist in the 3D isometric Mario world, so I'm glad they kept him as a sprite in the remake.
Yes... only if you rematch him and fight and win all before bosses, you can fight him in 3D form... sorry for my bad english.
The original is my favorite retro game, and one of my favorite video games of all time, period. I am excited beyond words for this in just a dozen days, now. Them's gonna be some long days, let me tell ya, but worth the wait! Really hope there are more post-game bonus goodies we have yet to learn about, besides boss rematches and a Music Player feature.

You see my name. That last two seconds with the best boss in the game and my boss music… perfection.
In the original you could trick a toad to get up near the door for the hidden chest that people thought you couldn't get later in the game. I remember if i got in the way of a toads path constantly it would make the toad walk closer to the door. It would take time to do it and you would have to be very quick to jump on the toad after you went for it or the toad would return to its original walking spot in the room.
OH how interesting! I never knew you could do that!
Welp looking forward to this game when it comes out. My only gripe was that they didn't add Luigi into the game when I played it back in the day.
I remember it so well, back in my sixth grade year where I struggled in my first semester because I had a very bad teacher with despicable bullies in the same room with me, but I bounced back so hard when I got a new teacher in my second semester, her being better and me being around better classmates. And I remember that second semester that I saw the Super Nintendo original in a friend's issue of GamePro, where it got 5.0 across the board, and it shared some character breakdowns and tips for the game. I wanted that GamePro from him so bad that I traded him two Sega Genesis games for it, and I showed my dad that game when I was going to stay with him for Summer Vacation. And because I did so much better in school, getting back on the honor roll and all that, my dad bought me this game at the Sears in Singing River Mall at the time, feeling so glad to have gotten that. That was one of the most fun Summer Vacations ever, especially with me having my last year at the YMCA Day Camp in Ocean Springs.
So yeah, this remake? Looking so forward to it, and I will be cherishing it for a good while, loving all the additions and improvements, while basking in the warm and cozy nostalgia.
Not to mention, Nintendo of Japan on Twitter (or X, whatever) teased that another special boss will be in this remake, but they're not telling us who yet.
