What a wonderful interview. I just started listening to his Self-Talk Plus app on my phone a few days ago. At 64 years of age I am actually changing my thinking with this and enjoying it immensely. I grew up in a very negative environment and became a self-help junkie starting when I was about 11 years old, even though there wasn't much self help back then.
I've tried many books and programs through the years but this self talk program goes to the heart of the problem. I listen as I walk in the morning and get chores done around the house. It certainly makes it more fun. Don't overdo it at first, just stick with his recommendations which are valuable.

I found Shad's books as a young adult in the late 80s. They helped me immensely through self-doubt. Great guy.

Decluttering the mind from the chatter and changing old obsolete programming. :) Great interview, thank you for bringing it. I have known about Dr. Helmstetter for several years now. I have purchased all his books. I work as a foreign languages teacher so his story is relatable to me. I have also noticed that my students use their old programming while they are learning something new. Most of the time, they criticize themselves for not being good at learning. I have implemented self-talk in my lessons, we use repetition and short dialogues with positive talk. It does work!
For anyone who wants to experience self-talk reprogramming - listen to the recordings in the morning or afternoon (while doing something else, e.g. going for a walk). Do not focus on repeating the words, they will automatically come to your subconscious mind without effort. The "pruning" process takes about 2-3 days, so do not be discouraged. Then, it is only better and better. Good luck. PS: The self-talk that I enjoy the most is the "life coach" and "quality of life".

    I too am dyslexic.
I highly recommend reading “The Dyslexic Advantage” by Brock L. Eide M.D., M.A. & Fernette F. Eide M.D.
It clarifies so much. Goes into details about brain structures and capacities.
Dyslexia is a trade off, not a dysfunction.
We are exceptionally good at certain things (spacial relations, engineering) at the cost of being not so good at other things (reading, spelling, menial wrote learning).

His book is great but his customer service team is awful. It’s incredibly disappointing. I’ve tried emailing them so many times to work with his personally as it says on their website and nobody ever responds. Along with they, many others have the same issue. His customer service team is truly awful. Go read the reviews online, people call his company a big scam because of how it’s being run.

I am sorry to hear this about your experience. I have just recently became CST Certified through the Self Talk Institute and ibwould highly suggest if you haven't yet getting the Self Talk App. It is free for 30 days. Also for members of the Self Talk Plus app there are weekly coaching webinar sessions. I truly hope this is helpful as I personally can say this does work. With Love and Respect to all have a wonderfully blessed day with Love and Joy!

@@wildlytruthful4193 it’s funny because I tried to become certified as well. I sent the customer service team on the website countless emails… they never responded. So I figured I’m not going to spend the money and sign up for the course if they’re just going the never respond. Worst customer service. I’m glad you had a good experience at least! If you look other people have complained about the same thing too- horrible customer service

I had an amazing experience with their customer service. I also learned through researching reviews recently that there is a mock self-talk store out there that is misrepresenting Dr shad helmstetter s program. I Wonder if you were somehow accidentally involved with that one.

@@aprilbaek2803 interesting but no I was on his official website. I was willing to spend thousands of $$$s to work with him personally and do their certification but they never responded. I emailed multiple times until I just gave up
