Your list of the "Goods" about Good Friday are very helpful to us lay Christians who really do have difficulty explaining why it is called thus. Thank you.
Thank you so much for this David. I am so thankful for this and your podcasts as I have been listening to them and reading your bible commentary for years. You are a true warrior!
I met you in November at CC Philadelphia for the Mens Conference. Your study on Job 31:1 was very convicting. Which brings me to the point of my comment on this video. But I think one of the most important reasons, that we call it Good Friday is because we were forgiven. Lust and sexual sin forgiven, my sins today and forever are forgiven. You’re right because if Jesus at any point decided we weren’t worth his love. He could’ve came down off that cross completely healed. He could’ve looked at everyone there and said “you can all go to hell”. I’m glad you said Resurrection Sunday was better. Honestly though I thought the New Covenant was fulfilled on Sunday and not Friday. Am I wrong about that? If I am can you point me towards the scripture that explains it? Thank you and God Bless!
Brian, that's a great though - that the New Covenant is fulfilled on Sunday and not Friday. Really, the death and resurrection of Jesus are a combined pair, so in a sense you're right. But, we speak of "the blood of the covenant" and the "sacrifice of covenant" and those are relevant to the day of crucifixion. Jesus said "it is finished" or "paid in full" on that day of crucifixion. So, we first think of those things being done on that day, but it is right to point out that there is an unbroken chain to resurrection Sunday. Blessings to you!
David, that makes a lot more sense now. Thank you for clearing that up for me. Now I do have 2 questions about your page Enduring Word. I heard you mention it at Calvary Philadelphia, and my friend Bob Romanelli has also suggested it. My question is this. I don’t have a computer so is there a phone app? Would it be good to use alongside my McArthur study Bible?
