How To Make The Perfect Whiskey Sour | Booze On The Rocks
Вставка
- Опубліковано 27 сер 2024
- Today on Booze On The Rocks, we make the Whiskey Sour with egg white. You can find the original version of a Whiskey Sour in the 1862 Bartenders Guide by Jerry Thomas. But the egg white variation that we know emerged in the 1890s, and many variations, such as the New York Sour, Jersey Sour, and Dizzy Sour, became quite popular. The Whiskey Sour contains a near-perfect combination of citrus, sweet, and bourbon flavors with a fantastic smooth texture due to the addition of egg whites. Try it out and let me know what you think.

Kept calling the lemon a lime. Love the video.
Thank you, I'm glad you liked it.
can't beat a whiskey sour
You got that right.
💯
This was my go to cocktail
One day we need a “poor man’s” series where you do everything with just a shot glass and a cup 😂 pipet of bitters?
Awesome video!
Thank you, I will have to see what I can do.
@@boozeontherocks Thanks! That would be awesome.
Where I live the way most bartenders make a sour is with whisky, fresca and squeezed lime or whisky and squirt. I cant wait to try this recipe.
I hope you like it. Let me know what you think.
I love that you get all nerdy with your bartending -from a fellow bar nerd
Thank you very much :)
In your video you were talking about limes and lime juice and then you switched to talking about lemons and cut a lemon 😮
Good catch. I did not realize that I did that :P
Is there anything more classic or perfectly balanced? Beautifully done David!
Thank you very much. It one of the best classics.
Another great history lesson on what seems to be a very old cocktail. I noticed that you do not have the hockey sticks up in the background. Come on man, it's the Playoffs! lol Thanks for sharing another cocktail. Cheers my friend.
Cheers PJ. I know I should have the sticks up but is time for cocktails :)
You know I love a good whiskey sour! Sometimes it pays to respect the classics!
Absolutely, And there are some classics that set the bar,
This is the drink that got me into cocktails
It is so good.
The superior recipe, certainly.
Thank you
2:12 oh the sound of LOVE
I agree :)
Yes please!!! i'll take a handful now!
Coming right up Stephane!!
Good video on how to make Whiskey Sour. For egg white i'm using Super Syrup (sugar, xantham gum, arabic gum, methylcellulose ) same foam, same taste, actually better smell, as it don't have egg white specific "vet dog" smell
What are they ratios that you use?
@@boozeontherocksI believe the super syrup is from a Kevin Kos video if you are interested in the ratios
Hey David, have a new channel again
I actually have made the whiskey sour without the egg white and used Jack Daniels
Awesome news on your channel, and JD is a good one to have that with.
David this is one of my favourite cocktails! I made a couple for my husband and me this week with Colonel E.H. Taylor for a treat and it was outstanding! We use the egg white. For bourbon in this delicious cocktail we often use Four Roses, Bulleit, Woodford Reserve and Barrell Bourbon Cask strength (so amazing David!!) - lovely bourbons. Barrell can take some hunting down and most likely from a private spirit store. I have made the whiskey sour with chick pea juice but I love it with egg white. This is a must have when visiting Ireland - very popular with Irish whiskey or bourbon!! Awesome video as always!! Hope you are well! Cheers!! 🙂
Thank you, Christine. You are right. I prefer the egg whites in mine as well. Depending on what you use for your spirit will make a huge difference. Have a great weekend.
Hi David, I have made this a couple of times in the last 3 years. But it is not my goto drink. That was a Right Hand Twist, but now is a Negroni, made with 50ml apiece of Malfy grapefruit forward gin, Carpano Antica Formula sweet vermouth and Campari, stirred with ice, orange oils over with it served on a rock in a double old fashioned.
Nick from York
Hi Nick, Both of those are really good. And each of those ingredients sound lie great flavours.
I could never get the foam right, now I know why! Thank you very much!!
Your welcome, I hope the tip works for you.
Love myself some whiskey sour! Love the tip at the end David. Very good video Nd big 👍 up!
Thank you, I'm glad you liked it.
Thank you kind gentleman
You're welcome, I;m glad you like it.
I love this classic! Thank you for sharing David! I´m going to make me a Whiskey Sour now ... Cheers and have a wonderful weekend!!! 😉❤🥃
Awesome Alexandra, these are so good :)
I have never had a whiskey sour, I always hear how good it is. Looks amazing. cheers.
You need to get one if you can, it’s a very good drink
You should Doc. They are really good.
@@brandoncarpenter9681 I agree
@@brandoncarpenter9681 thanks I keep hearing it’s so good. Even my wife has had it before.
Happy Friday David! It's been a while since I've made a sour, I'm going to have to make one this weekend. Great video as always! Cheers!
It's so delicious! I forget about it too and when I make one I think, "Hey, why don't I make this beauty more often?!!"
Happy Friday, Sean. Go for it.
I agree. It's the extra work. But it's worth it.
I always shake the egg white with just the bourbon first to kill the salmonella
That is one way to do it.
I feel like this was the first cocktail where I realized that quality cocktails exist... A lot of people would tell me to get whiskey sours when I first started drinking, from a sour mix? I didn't care for it, but then when I had it made right (like this video), I realized, I should always be looking for something better quality...
Your right it does matter. When it's made right you can tell.
I was actually planning on making this tonight 😂 heck yeah
Perfect timing:)
Great job on this video bro, very nice vibe and very informative.
Thank you very much :)
😄👍Damn! That looks SPECTACULAR !👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you very much.
Thnak u
You're welcome :)
@@boozeontherocks my friends really enjoyed your recipe thanks 😊
I’m craving one so bad now 😩
This is one of my favorites
Vegan stuff arent my thing so i usually buy bottled eggwhite because it is easier than using actual eggs.
I generally prefer the the egg whites but in a pinch I will use the aqua faba
Ah... a sour... nah no eggs in my drink lol. Have a great weekend!
Thanks Ulgarth, you too.
DAVID!! Great video!!! I haven't had one of these in a while!!! I need to revisit this!!! This looks 👌!!! CHEERS!!!
HI TIM!!! Its definitely time to revisit the orginal.
great tips 🥃
Thank you.
Any comments or suggestions for the egg yolks? I love egg white cocktails but hate the waste (yolks) so I rarely make them. Oooo I don’t like the after taste of aquafaba….
Hi Paul I will have to check. I have a few recipes for a full egg but let me see what I can do.
@@boozeontherocks I have some full egg ones too (Gin or Coffee base versions) but I’d love to see what’s your take on full egg cocktails.
Is nobody gonna talk about the fact he never cut a lime 😂 dude had a lemon in his hand the whole time bro lol classic
But I did make it right at least :)
mmmmm yum
They are tasty Gary
nice one👌
Thank you very much :)
Whiskey sour has no egg whites, a Boston sour has egg whites. well thats what I was told. I always add egg whites.
Hi Lawrence, generally true, and you can have it either way. The bost is good without the egg whites too, but I prefer the whites in both.
great video but the shaking close ups were a bit intimate and awkward
Thank you for the feedback.
Do you make your own ice?
I do :)
Maybe need to redo the audio to correct the use of “lime” when it really a lemon. Otherwise nice video
Thank you for the feed back. I will see what I can do.
that's a lemon!!
It definitely is :)
رائع 🌹
شكراً جزيلاً. أنا سعيد لأنه أعجبك.
Made these last night. Just way too much work for a Lynchburg Lemonade. Just not impressed. Give me an Old Fashioned all day! 🇺🇸🥃
Is it to much work for the Whiskey Sour or Lynchburg Lemonade? Also I love Old Fashionds as well.
@@boozeontherocks this recipe.
No eggwhite no texture.. SUCKS!!
It's gotta have egg whites.
