Neat drawing!
Thanks :D
I found out about Inktober last October and I had just finished a challenge I gave myself to draw everyday in September. This year I'm doing Drawlloween and Inktober. Both have prompts for each day but I'm using Inktober as an excuse to get better at drawing my characters doing the things in the prompts and then I will use inked pages for reference for future issues of my comic book. I'm so ready and so excited!
Last year was actually the first Inktober that I have participated in :D I have heard of Drawlloween too, but haven't participated in that one yet. Maybe next year! I'm so glad to hear that your prepped and ready to go this year! I cant wait to start too!
Love the jagged plating you drew on the tortoise's legs.
One of the challenges I like about Inktober are the Visual prompts that are given. As an Illustrator, I believe it's more challenging to develop an IDEA first, then INK and RENDER. I've come under criticism that my INKING wasn't up to par, but I DON"T CARE!! I can ink with the best of them, my main purpose during INKTOBER is to develop IDEAS as well a CRAFT.
always been scared to do inktober.
Jerry Orta no need to fear my friend! Join this year! It'll be fun!
I'm new to the art community and I'm definitely gonna do inktober as my first drawing challenge
Nice words of encouragement, I was kinda second guessing about participating in Inktober
Thanks! You should totally join in the fun!
Nice! And a really good presentation of Inktober :)
Thanks so much Yvette! I really appreciate that :D
Arrrgh! So envy of your skills! It seems impossible to me to work with ink, it doesn't listen. And I was always amazed by how some people make such bold shadows. I mean, make them look SO well. Barely any half-tones needed. So defined, so well knowing what they are doing. How?!
Thank you so much I'm really glad I found this video this really helped a lot!
You're Welcome! I'm so glad you found it and that it helped!
I am thanking #inktober for introducing you to me!
Same goes here my friend :D
intresting
i will give it a try
thanks for the explanation
Sounds great!
thank you for the information
You're very welcome Ennon!
G'morning! *waves*
This is my first year doing Inktober - theming it around one of my stories that I have yet to work on. End goal: hopefully some illustrated pieces worthy of becoming prints! I've already got one great idea . . . now I just need to make some more.
Biggest challenge is falling behind - missed a day and now I gotta catch up!
Hey TJ! Glad to hear you are trying it out this year! That sounds like a great theme to work on, and a great way to get some practice drawing your story elements! I am doing much the same with mine this year :D
As for falling behind, don't worry about it too much. I am behind a day too, due partly to having my water heater break this week. Falling behind can happen to us all. What really matters is whether you get back to drawing and keep going with your plans. Keep going and you will have more experience and skill in the end!
I'm definitely planning on trying to catch up - hoping today will be a chance, since I have no work. Even still, I can tell there's massive improvement that I'm super proud of! Not every drawing is great, but I'm thankful for the time I put into them, because it's pushing me to do new things. So hopefully that will mean I start seeing higher and higher turnout of quality as time goes on.
Sweet! Improvement is the name of the game :D Keep at it!
Oh god I am in love...... With your art !!! Soooo good !
Aww! Thank You Mel!
Bro how to imagine a new character like this.... please
Sometimes this stuff just comes to you. Sometimes you have to sit and brainstorm for a while :)
Chris Wharton ohh I got it.... this is our imaginations....
karan TJ Sorry I don’t have a better tip to give you 😣
i'm starting to learn how to ink and use ink to add shadows, any tips?
Sure, try experimenting with your shadows. Think of this month as one big experiment! Make super intense shadows! Back it off a bit, and see if you can add different levels of shadows by either hatching, cross hatching, or applying washes of less intensity (like watercolor, only with ink)!
If you hatch, try and let your hatchwork follow the contours of the objects you are shading. If its flat, let the lines be strait, if its curved, let the shading lines be curved.
Also, try to find ways to use shadows to add depth to your drawings. there are so many great artists out there who are good at inked negative space. Jake Parker (the father of Inktober) is great at it, but also check out Jeff Smith who did 'Bone', and Bill Waterson who did Calvin and Hobbes. Try and take a few pointers from their styles, and see what you come up with!
I hope this helps!
Good luck!
Thanks for the tip! Love your art work~ shared some of your timelapse videos to my friends
can i ink it with a ballpoint pen? or just a pen?
Sure! Use anything that deposits ink on paper. Any type of pen will do, along with brushes, brush pens, dipping pens, etc.. Preferably use something that you want to get better at making art with over the course of the month :)
Im a little confused because I thought there wss supposed to be a theme provided for you each day?
There is an Official Inktober Prompt list every year, but it's optional. Most people make their own list or use someone else's. :D
Do you have a link to the list?
Here, it's on the official website page: mrjakeparker.com/inktober
Scroll down a little and you'll see the 2016 official prompt list. The 2017 version will be up around the end of september! We'll just have to wait and see. :)
Jake Parker posted the official prompt for 2017 list a few days ago: instagram.com/p/BY6eKjZgJ1O/?hl=en&taken-by=jakeparker
:D
My kinds of drawing doesn't really go well with Inktober :(
Well thats what Inktober is about. Getting out of your comfort zone and trying stuff out. If you are interested in it you should really give it a shot Loshine. There's no reason not to if you want to :)
Okay, I'll try :D
Sweet!
First dislike but I actual like the video.
i like the drawing but not the colors :s
