@Juliana Silva before he became a president he was an actor and played school teacher who suddenly became a president of Ukraine
Juliana Silva yup. Great show, he played same role of the “reformator” challenging the status quo of previous government. ... best political campaign in my humble opinion.

Same question. Putin seems very determined to have his way in this. He claims that 'the people choose' - so the only valid way of bringing this mission to pass is to get the people's vote on this.

With Ukraine - remembering Anna Akhmatova
In times of Anna Achmatova Ukraine wasn't be country it became something independent in Soviet Union in Hruchev times , Anna Achmatova times have Russian Empire, Tcar , ww1 hungry people without homes and two revolutions, first of that was by mencheviks how make many terroristical acts vs government , esers and other parties after Nicolas 2 wrote that he's not tcar anymore last of that was by Lenin and bolsheviks how were in emigration in Germany mainly (all that was ww1 times when Austria be Empire, when USA was poor and Europe was most powerful in the world
I thought she was victimised in the Stalin era - Her Son Lev got arrested, Husband too, and she was allegedly anti-regime and religious. Remembered her as a dissident & victim of soviet power centered in the ,then Leningrad. ( She rests in peace there, right, St. Petersburg ?)
Thought of her because she was born in Ukraine , thought of her as a brave daughter of Ukraine. Those times were different but human suffering is the same , under crushing political power , right?
I am from India( Asia), just declaring solidarity , with the suffering Ukrainians in the disputed area..

Is he allowed to dissolve the parliament just like that? Most places get voted into power for terms of some years.
Technique Zeke the president is separate from the government. The government in effect is answerable to the president. If he doesn’t like what’s going on he can dissolve parliament and force a new election regardless of how long the governments been in power.

Putin wants it, not Russia. None of the ordinary Russians does feel advantages after Crimea occupation. Yes, you got Crimea, but at what cost? Russian government sold Siberia to China, but they have small Crimea. It's not worth it.
Maybe because Russians are majority there?
Same as Nagorno Karabakh wants to be part of Armenia, Republika Srpska part of Serbia, Kosovo part of Albania etc.

@@mdza that has nothing to do with it. Irridentism has no foundation in international law and Putin has no interests in annexing majority Russian parts of Estonia or Latvia. He cares about Crimea because of its strategic value
Black Sea natural gas fields offshore, the loss of which will damage Ukrainian economy and make it susceptible to accepting loans and deals from Russia. This would obviously favour Russia economically as well. There is also leverage over the Ukrainian southern border in event of direct invasion/involvement in Donbas Warand Crimea is a bufferzone on which to build a potential front line with NATO states such as Romania.
