He was a great drummer back then, before the 2000's, but his age cought him.. maybe even health issues. Have seen him live solo recently.. absolute catastrophy :( The rock or bust tour already was not good anymore but now.. he obviously doesn't care about ruin his legacy.
BBjazzman (50 +yrs various percussion and drumming):"Any Hard Rock drummer can slap the hell outta the drum for 15 minutes without swing or feel and keep time, most of the listeners aren't musicians , they won't really know or care ".. IMHO..Chris Slade Sounds like a Trainwreck every time I've heard and seen him, wasted my time and my concert ticket money.. someone here posted better than Rudd??? YEAH right.. he's so great he was permanently canned from ACDC.. Angus: yes well, sometimes things happen ya know.. it's what we're do for the time being.. Malcolm:..Phil has that swing and feel.. that's what's missing with other drummers we've played with.. he's just always been the perfect drummer.. he's like a machine..
I remember seeing him at st. George's hall in Bradford with Manfred mann's earth band. And I have been a fan ever since he is magic as far as I am concerned that was way back in the seventies.
Chris Slade may not be flashy or technically proficient but he’s a good solid, powerful player. If I had to choose between Phil Rudd or Chris Slade as an AC/DC drummer I’d choose Chris because his drumming style isn’t lazy. Chris knows how to add some extra spice here and there without overplaying or tampering with AC/DC’s simplistic yet steady formula. Aside from the fact that he’s almost 74 years old and he plays (played?) for one of the best rock bands in the history of the planet, from what I’ve read about him I like the guy. He’s a genuinely good person who doesn’t blow off fans like a lot of other famous artists do so he’s cool in my book.
Oh my God, guys; just because this isn't Neil Peart, it doesn't mean it is not a good solo. Slade doesn't need a spinning drumset and electric pads. He's a classic jazz and rock drummer and it a legend in his own style and right.
Despite what some here might think, that was a great solo. Very rudimentary but, hey, aren't they all, one way or the other. A helluva lot of 'feel' in this, which is what really makes it, for me anyway. Nice one, Chris! Good work... \m/ (:o)
I love all of these comments about how he is a great drummer LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! First off, to be a great drummer, you have to be very versatile, play any genre, have great technique, be able to perform RUDIMENTS instead of just throwing off singles everywhere, have a great meter and have some creativity and/or originality. Chris Slade is an AVERAGE ROCK DRUMMER AT BEST. That's it. For the amount of time he's been playing, the experience he has, the time and money he has at his expense to practice and hone his craft, I wouldn't even say that he's good, never mind great. Session drummers and the best drummers of today have raised the bar to such levels that Chris sounds like a 3 year old just picking up the sticks. No offense to any Chris Slade fans but that solo was fucking brutal.
Rick Davis I'm retired now. I was touring from 2001 to 2007. I had a full endorsement with Sabian and Tama. Things didn't work out because of irreconcilable differences and I didn't have it in me to start over at 33 when I worked my whole life to get to that point (deal with BMG, endorsements, working with Steve Thompson and other big name producers, touring independently and with festivals such as The Warped Tour, playing to 30,000 people). Now, I realize that I didn't achieve the success that Slade did but that does not mean that he is a great drummer, just a great businessman. I would drum circles around him with one hand. That solo was ridiculously basic, boring, lacking technique and originality and it actually sounds like the first solo I ever did when I first picked up the sticks at age 11. For someone with his money and resources, he should be honing his craft and taking pride in it. That solo sounded like he was just doing his job, predictable and fucking lame. Like he almost hates going to work. No passion, no emotion. He's terrible and whoever thinks that he's amazing clearly have never heard of drummers like Felix Lehrmann, Gergo Borlai, Benny Greb, Ramon Samson and Eric Moore.
chris slade is twice the man phil could ever be Chris has a awesome personality awesome attitude he loves his fans interacts with them he is a better drummer than phil phil is good but Chris is great you rock Chris
Playing drums in AC/DC is not that hard. Okay there are many tempos in their song, but you don't need to be Mike Portnoy. Phil Ruud plays the grooves so tight and that is his signature. No need for multiple fills. Chris Slade has been a stand in for Phil many times, but he does basically the same thing as Phil.
I meant the hi-hat rape. Sounded weirdly forced and out of place. Again, Chris Slade is one of my favourite drummers, so I'm not trying to put him down as a drummer.
How anyone can say, after presumably having listened to Powerage, Highway to Hell and Back in Black, that Phil Rudd wasn't perfect for AC/DC, is beyond me.
James Griffiths Phil’s work on those albums is absolutely phenomenal. He is the driving force and groove behind Malcolm’s rhythm, cliffs time, and angus, color.
Geeeez.. he sounds like.... ? Me !!! I'm 61 I had more speed and stamina when I was younger and I'll tell you why. I used to smoke. At the end near 3 packs a day. If you are a drummer and smoke... Quit now.
Nobody cares how tecnical or good he can be or is... He is not ACDC and Phil is. And this drum solo is pretty lame compared to a great many other drummers. Sorry.
Solos don't mean shit if you can't lay it down steady like a frieght train for and extended period behind a song as part of a good rhythm section like Phil is flawlss at doing. He has that swing and groove that is part of the guts of the ACDC sound. Brian himself said in an interview a long time ago after one of Phils absences from the band that when he came back he said, yeagh with Phil back... That's ACDC. Unless there's some kind of intelligent reflection and reasoning behind what you have to say... Shut the fuck up. Have a nice day : D
Search you tube. There are 9 yr old drummers better than this. I found a Justin Bieber video where Justin is playing the drums. You can hear the audience commenting in the video about how good a drummer Bieber is. Then search any and every Bieber drum solo on you tube. Everyone one of them is the exact same ‘solo’
73 and still beating the drums amazing glad I saw him on tour hes a beast
I like the way you make them drums talk. Thanks Chris.
I challenge anyone who doubts Slade to watch Let there be Rock live at donington. Absolutely amazing .. he's a metronome
i just watched it for the 10000 time :). Crazy performance
He’s a hell of a lot better than Rudd
He was a great drummer back then, before the 2000's, but his age cought him.. maybe even health issues. Have seen him live solo recently.. absolute catastrophy :( The rock or bust tour already was not good anymore but now.. he obviously doesn't care about ruin his legacy.

AWESTRUCK!
I remember seeing him at st. George's hall in Bradford with Manfred mann's earth band. And I have been a fan ever since he is magic as far as I am concerned that was way back in the seventies.
Glad he's back. Love him since 1991. Thunderstruck my favorite (the power in that theme is overwhelming)
Glad he is back with AC/DC
he is like Angus he really feel the rock inside him
not anymore, lol. PHIL IS BACK
J'adore. A 68 ans, il repart avec AC/DC. Une merveille !
Magnifique 💓
I just love him❤
fantastic, what a great guy too
that's hell lot of rock in one solo! me likey!
Cut him some slack he is in his 70s I think and he is doing that good damn
El sonido que le imprime es fantastico , el mejor baterista que tuvo acdc. CHRIS UNA LEYENDA.
Chris Slade may not be flashy or technically proficient but he’s a good solid, powerful player. I met him twice and going to see him tonight live... he's a really nice simple guy. And he rocks the place when you give him sticks and a drumkit...
He has a big presence.
damn.. he's actually better than i thought with dynamics.
you should look up let there be rock! no way i could keep up like he did!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :O
Oh my God, guys; just because this isn't Neil Peart, it doesn't mean it is not a good solo. Slade doesn't need a spinning drumset and electric pads. He's a classic jazz and rock drummer and it a legend in his own style and right.
Great drummer! Welcome back to AC/DC!
BRUTAL !! 👌✌🤘
Despite what some here might think, that was a great solo. Very rudimentary but, hey, aren't they all, one way or the other. A helluva lot of 'feel' in this, which is what really makes it, for me anyway. Nice one, Chris! Good work... \m/ (:o)
this guy is soooo smooth........!!!!!
ENORME !!!!!!!!!! Chris Slade
Check him out doing chills and fever in 1965 with Tom Jones, he was brilliant back then too.
Drumming isn't always about speed and double bass. I certainy dig Slade. Lots of power, precision and an unreal sense of rhythm.
Even after the stick drop still fucking amazing
Troy oo, I totally agree! Not bad for a 65 year old man that I'm sure has seen more drumming action than the likes of ShaZAM514.
didn't he also play in the firm with jimmy page and paul rodgers?
I love all of these comments about how he is a great drummer LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do you know that he has played with variety of artists including Asia and Tom Jones?
+Fretta Mohetta What band are you touring with?
Rick Davis I'm retired now. I was touring from 2001 to 2007. I had a full endorsement with Sabian and Tama. nobody cares about you
even if you played drums at the bottom of the Mariana Trench nobody would still care about you
Do you have any videos of you playing drums?
Best Drummer in the world!
oh dear.
Lars Ulrich?
uhhhhhhhh............... no.
Super!!!!!
wow!
Boom!
I saw him with acdc in the 90s up close. He is a shit hot drummer and served acdc very well.
Yet he managed it very well. We wouldn't notice just from listening.
Are those Gretsch toms with Pearl mounts?
The toms are Pearl Masters customs, i think he got those drums when he was with ASIA.
Großartig. Macht Spaß.
Buenísimo!!!!!
same kit like in AC/DC live at donington
No, two charlie are missing, and the cymbals kit is little bit different
Droped stick..1:59 .not so bad Mr !!
Thumb up!
Didn't Chris play opened handed with the hat on the right side at one time?
Yes, when he was with AC/DC
Francisco Faria Thanks. I didn't think I was losing my mind!
Certainly did while playing in Asia...
Currently using a regular HiHat and a remote HiHat set up between rack Tom's 2&3....
Ich war da und habe genau das gleiche gefilmt. Ich dachte zuerst das wäre mein Video.......
👍
chris or phill ?????
PHIL IS BEST!!!
Slade for ever.
LOOOOL Phil ALL THE WAY!!!
chris slade is twice the man phil could ever be Chris has a awesome personality awesome attitude he loves his fans interacts with them he is a better drummer than phil phil is good but Chris is great you rock Chris
Chris is a nice guy, but phil is AC DC.
I've met Phil. He'll never be able to complete with Slade on passion for the music or for his fans
Hä? Wo ist das Solo? Sorry, aber das spiele ich auch.
HEY 🥰 IS THAT PHILL ???? I GUESS NOT !!😂🙄 DIS GUY HAS LONGER STICKS!!!!!!😅
Something from John Bonham.
Where?
Gene Kruppa style!!!!
Ритм мену дан от Бога. Руки сильные....наверно от отца....
@andreas5299 He lost his sticks :O
Роджер Тейлор!

I love Chris Slade, he's a great drummer...but what the fuck was that at 1:49
realwingman1 he dropped a stick, must happen every now & again because he had another ready to go.
+realwingman1 Happens to everybody
I meant the hi-hat rape. Sounded weirdly forced and out of place. Again, Chris Slade is one of my favourite drummers, so I'm not trying to put him down as a drummer.
1:59
whoops...oh i have another. Let me continue this rambling shite drum solo....ahhhhkkkkkk!
He's more ac/dc then Phil ever was.
Thank you, brother.
Heh :-D
Dude Phil is the best thing to ever happen to this world.
How anyone can say, after presumably having listened to Powerage, Highway to Hell and Back in Black, that Phil Rudd wasn't perfect for AC/DC, is beyond me.
James Griffiths Phil’s work on those albums is absolutely phenomenal. He is the driving force and groove behind Malcolm’s rhythm, cliffs time, and angus, color.

chris est un putain de bon batteur il y a pas a dire ça cogne sec
Reminds on Ginger Baker..
tristissimo
Крис харезматичный, но Слейд мастер своего дела. Выбор за Ангусом....
+az091771 что??? какой Крис и какой Слейд? это один человек
Dude, мои друг, it's one name, Chris Slade. Грис слейд, бы панимаиш?
très bonne vidéo je ment sert même pour faire un exposé pour le collège merci mille fois les autres vidéo sont nul
Wer will denn ernsthaft ein Schlagzeugsolo hören???????????
Geeeez.. he sounds like.... ? Me !!! I'm 61 I had more speed and stamina when I was younger and I'll tell you why. I used to smoke. At the end near 3 packs a day. If you are a drummer and smoke... Quit now.
1:58 dropped stick. Happens to All of us.
+Arthur Washburn That's why i use grip tape.
+GamerDares wins that never guarantees anything
Excelent! Respect!
This guy sure likes those singles doesn't he? I mean he really has that down. Proof that if u can keep time you don't have to be good to find a band.
I lovvveeeee chris slade but he really shouldn't solo.
Such a weird guy, he is like the evil Phil Colins
Chad Smith blows all away in Rock nRoll drumming Red Hot Chile Peppers
For a long time professional player , i really thought it would be better. oh well, he's still the human metronome.
why is he so good in this but he sucks at coachella?
Type in Phil Rudd drum solo and you get Rick rolled as no such thing exists, Phil might suit acdc more but Slade is a better drummer.
The irony of being called Phil too
Got a lucky break I think
Drums Stick falls
Nobody cares how tecnical or good he can be or is... He is not ACDC and Phil is.
And this drum solo is pretty lame compared to a great many other drummers.
Sorry.
Nobody cares about what you saying either. He is a part of AC/DC, so just accept it. Show me Phil Rudd's solo
Solos don't mean shit if you can't lay it down steady like a frieght train for and extended period behind a song as part of a good rhythm section like Phil is flawlss at doing. He has that swing and groove that is part of the guts of the ACDC sound.

Have a nice day : D
Phil Rudd doesn't need to solo. He recorded 15 fucking monster albums with AC/DC!!! Anyways, Chris did 1 album.
@@malcolmlongaker580 that doesn't make him better
Lol you are right, that doesn't make him better. But the fact that he is better makes him better.
Theses isn't a very technical solo
So?
I respect your opinion but disagree. I think that Chris's variety fitted AC/DC better.
Awesome drumer. He fitted DC and they should have kept him. Phil Rudd is good but does what he has to Chris fills in the gaps too.
PHIL RUDD all the way!
Phils in jail.
Chris all the way!
+Nikolina Kiseljak Phil is sharp and can really hit the skins but Chris is smooth.
No he’s not
No.
Meh
CHE ASSOLO DI MERDA.....E' PIU' BRAVO IL FIGLIO DEL MIO CHITARRISTA CHE HA 12 ANNI E SUONA LA BATTERIA DA 4 ANNI
No nice chops its just rat tat tat garage style.
So sick of drum solos. No matter who does them they're just the same shit over and over again.
+Bob Townsend Да ты что такое говоришь ??? Ударные звуки услаждают слух !
F#$# you.
so why are you even watching?
Cringeworthy
No need to solo.
Rubbish.....7th grade garage chops
Let me start by saying I like Chris Slade as a drummer. I would say that his soloing isn't very good.
Chris should steer clear of solos..........
boring
Search you tube. There are 9 yr old drummers better than this. I found a Justin Bieber video where Justin is playing the drums. Dude shut the fuck up
Boring and amateurish.
Boring I can get, but why do you say amateurish?
This man is amazing for his age. His drumming skill is still one of the best you can find at any age group.
he is fucking amazing and you...
you wont even be able to shit at his age
@@themasterress He will be able to shit at his age. He just won't be able to control it.
