Maggie x Otis Fashion School Mentorship | On The Runway

The Maggie x Otis Fashion mentorship project officially debuted their final upcycled bridal fashion styles on the runway at the annual O-Launch showcase event at Otis College.
Junior and senior students presented their creations on the runway and showcased projects from respected mentors such as Mike Amiri, Revolve, J. Crew, Katherine Ross/LACMA, Blizzard Entertainment, Bleu/Rod Beattie, and Marcus Clayton, wrapping up with a grand finale by Maggie Sottero.

About the Mentorship:
For the first time in its 40-year history, Otis Fashion is bringing together its junior and senior class students to create a bridal fashion collection upcycled from our discontinued and one-of-a-kind stock, inspired by forms in nature - and we couldn't be more thrilled! Maggie Sottero’s CEO and Creative Director Kelly Midgley, Sustainability Director and Designer Patricia DeLaunay (an Otis College ’04 BFA Fashion Design alumna), and Lead Designer Edric Woo have tasked the students with reimagining Maggie Sottero dresses. The juniors are set to reimagine styles for the bridal party of the “very near future,” creating upcycles of stock gowns that can be worn for the wedding weekend, wedding day, and beyond. Likewise, the seniors are challenged to dress the bride, recreating stock Maggie Sottero wedding dresses into modern and new gowns by reimagining shape, proportion, and fabric remnants!

This stunning dress is not from our collection; it was crafted as part of an upcycling mentorship project with Otis College of Art and Design! ✨ In this partnership, we donated 220+ gowns to design students to reduce textile waste and foster a future of more sustainable fashion design practices. It was a truly rewarding experience!
