I like the part at 2:20 when only like every tenth note hit the drum so it looked like he was playing very fast but sounded slow. that and every other part was cool.
I love how near the start, you played with the tempo on what sounds like paradiddlediddles. Starting fast and then slowing down....its pretty straight forward rudiment wise but just sounds BALLS OUT! I love it.
i've never understood why people dislikes something like that. The show is pretty good, and it's matching with the title, so nothing can be misunderstood.
Thanks. I don't march any corps...yet, although I am a part of the drumline at the University of Texas at Austin. I do intend to do some corps activity...probably start off with Boston Crusaders and then hopefully get into SCV. We'll just have to see. :)
dude you're tech skills are killer and those hands are some of the fastest i've seen. Don't let it go to your head, but feel good about the talent given to you!
Actually, when i wanted to say about you, corey roberts, is that i love it when the crowd cheers for you. they think that you are very good at what drum you are playing and they really love your style of drum playing.
great man! very musical, I enjoyed a lot watching your video. Cool moves you made with the sticks. I can imagine you are a master now after these years. keep on going, you were born for this.
I really had to take a dump....But this was so interesting I stayed to watch it. It was so awesome, in fact, that I didn't even realize I was on a laptop and could take it with me.
Who is "the best"? No one, in particular. Mad skills are everywhere. I've heard great drummers from 5 to 85, classic to DCI, rock to reggae. This gentleman is awesome!
That is some mad chops you got there! Damn I wish I had that but you are cool and I like how you started off slow and went ham after damn! Keep up the good work! :)
@brandonbear1 my thought exactly! even a little Ivan Pacheco lick at the end! lol and to the video: very creative, perfect for a future I&E! Keep going man!
1. Who would even bother to write detrimental comments? That was AWESOME. 2. Especially for an improvisation! 3. Awesome, how's that for constructive criticism? 4. Who cares if you were shifting? Anyone would take that as moving to the rhythm! 5. Have I mentioned how awesome it was?
I just saw your circle of life vid and was like man this dude looks familiar, then i realized it was you from this clip. I realize this is old, when you were in high school, but man forget what everyone else is saying negatively, your did your thing and gave it your best. Your sound and diddle quality was damn good for a high school student and I'm sure you have progressed technique wise on the collegiate level. I give you mad props, half the people commenting wouldn't have done what you did.
Dude I though i wouldn't like this solo because of the begining but as it went on i was like COOOOOL. Good job on the ghost flams realy nice. If it was me i would have had more fun with it-like smile and dance and stuff- but just because i would be around my peers and girls might find it cute. But over all it was Awsome!
i don't know if somenone did criticise this videoo , but I see no reason to do so.....if someone complained , i can't understand why.... maybe they're jealous hahahaha you are unique man!!!!
Haha, thanks dude! I currently use a Dynasty DFX14 with a White Max head and a Falam II side. Sticks I think were Hardimon's, but could've been Johnson's. Either way, they sound relatively the same. :)
nice solo and reading from what u going thru in school and yet doing this up on stage, i say u r good. not many of us as individuals can really ace in studies n extra curriculum activities together. not to say gifted but more to hardwork and discipline. keep up the good work man. - musician from singapore...
great sticking keep it up , don't ever stop playing or practicing .I stopped for several years and its hard to get back into the groove but it will always be there. Since I stopped I try to practice a few hours every day but with working, well.
Practice basics, foundational studies, rudiments, and especially study your technique. Those are the best tips you can get. And practice everything! Don't give up!
Do you just sit here all day and think of nasty comments? That's some crazy stuff SpacePyro. I don't drum, but I sure bet that took some practice. Keep it up!
@finemusician10 thanks man! My technique has changed a lot since then (this was about four years ago). But yeah, I don't choke up on the stick as much and I was pretty nervous when playing. Thanks. :)
@thempercussion Haha, I appreciate your comments. This performance was more about incorporating visuals and playing on the go; I didn't really have much of a steady idea to work upon. While yes, keeping your chin up and not looking down at the drums is nice, it's not always an appropriate stance to use when drumming. It just depends on your environment. Playing with a full line at a parking lot? Definitely.
I highly recommend it. They are one of the cheaper snare drums, but they work really well. The only thing that sucks is customer service...it was a bit of a pain to talk to them via e-mail, but I got the drum regardless. I've had it for over a year now and it's still great. The only thing I would recommend is to get a different paint job on the rims of the drum...the standard is alright but I would've preferred black or silver rims. False advertising since they show black rims, but oh well.
hey dude you did a pretty good job with the solo, some pointers I can give you is first off try holding your stick back farther in the left hand, it will help alot with your sound quality ( not saying its bad of course but it would help you get a bit more power in there ), also I love the chops but what would really sell this solo at any competition would be to distinguish more between your accents and taps, that will greatly distinguish you at bac. Good job so far man keep up the good work!
@glennsnare09 Haha yes, I am. Although I had originally taken that lick off of Brian Perez's I&E tenor solo (I think it was 2004) and had implemented it on snare drum. But yes, it is pretty similar (if not identical, it's been a while) to the one in blast!
@thempercussion this is an individual performance for one. A solo he made up... On the spot lol. You can do whatever you want to do in a solo you created. as long as the sound quality and consistency is not effected.
I'm "ghosting" the notes. Essentially, my right hand hits the quarter note every time. Once I subdivide to eighth notes, my left hand acts like it's hitting the drum, but it stops before it reaches the head. Then with the 16th note subdivision, My right hand looks like it's playing eighth notes, but I'm really playing the first note, ghosting the next, then playing, etc....it's a very good visual effect. I was making that segment long to get my friend to cue his comment on "g-force." lol
Nice performance. I'm very interested because my ten yo son has to do similar at his school talent quest. Ignore all the negatrons, they think they are better. If so, they watched didn't they? Keep going, you have talent. Don't stop until you reach the top:)
if people have any negative comments to say about this dude then they're just fucken jealouse cause this kid put time n effort into his playing . well done ! bravo!
I like the part at 2:20 when only like every tenth note hit the drum so it looked like he was playing very fast but sounded slow. that and every other part was cool.
2:15 - 2:21 the fakes were pretty cool.
I love how near the start, you played with the tempo on what sounds like paradiddlediddles. Starting fast and then slowing down....its pretty straight forward rudiment wise but just sounds BALLS OUT! I love it.

nothing beats a badass snare player with a tucked in shirt. good playin man!
HOLY CRAP!!! dude thats some of the best snare drumming i've ever seen
that was REALLY good for improv, right on the spot. and your ghost notes were also done very well
Who is "the best"? No one, in particular. Mad skills are everywhere. I've heard great drummers from 5 to 85, classic to DCI, rock to reggae. This gentleman is awesome!
That is some mad chops you got there! Damn I wish I had that but you are cool and I like how you started off slow and went ham after damn! Keep up the good work! :)
I lost my rhythm several times but you just kept going. Awesome, dude!
You are an immensely talented drummer. I enjoyed it immensely. You'll only get better. Scary to think about, really.
insane dude. To have completely freestyled that is totally nuts. i don't even know what to say to that.
Good luck with Tribute! It's a hard solo but it's well worth the work and effort when people and the judges love it.
@brandonbear1 my thought exactly! even a little Ivan Pacheco lick at the end! lol and to the video: very creative, perfect for a future I&E! Keep going man!
Goodjob man! I hope you won, youre far better than most people ive seen on youtube
1. Who would even bother to write detrimental comments? That was AWESOME.
2. Especially for an improvisation!
3. Awesome, how's that for constructive criticism?
4. Who cares if you were shifting? Anyone would take that as moving to the rhythm!

DUDE U ARE AMAZINGLY GOOD U HAVE A GRAT CAREER AHEAD OF YOU!!! ROCK ON!
Haha, thanks dude! I currently use a Dynasty DFX14 with a White Max head and a Falam II side. Sticks I think were Hardimon's, but could've been Johnson's. Either way, they sound relatively the same. :)

Even though it's all regurgitated DCI I&E, I think you did most of it very well.
nice dude. i loved the ghosted notes and the ivan pacheco lick. cool
ehy man I really like your groove, very good control and cool illusions too eheh ;) my appreciations, I saw also newer stuff great job! cya
great sticking keep it up , don't ever stop playing or practicing .I stopped for several years and its hard to get back into the groove but it will always be there. Since I stopped I try to practice a few hours every day but with working, well.
damn man improvised and all!! this is sick!!
Mesmerizing stick control! Take a bow!
This is amazing for being improvised..
great technique
This is the solo from Blast .... nice job dude!
That's fantastic. I'd love to see a video.
this is sooo crazy all this is improvised? holy shit mucho bueno
The tucked-in shirt made this awesome.
Practice basics, foundational studies, rudiments, and especially study your technique. Those are the best tips you can get. And practice everything! Don't give up!
Great playing! your paradiddles are much better than mine, any day! LOL.
Do you just sit here all day and think of nasty comments?
That's some crazy stuff SpacePyro. I don't drum, but I sure bet that took some practice. Keep it up!
Amazing bro. Hands most drummers only dream about!
amazing! clearly a passion, keep it up!
i got just one word for this...AWESOME....good job bro...
very good!!! you have skilled controlled hands. well done
lol the hatred on a solo instrument videos is amazing. No matter how good they play, someone will always find a fault.
Haha, you made me think my computer was messing up at 2:17
awesome man ...¡¡¡¡
have a beautiful talent and ability.
follow your instincts and your heart ...
You'll be fine
God bless you
sick vid dude! awesome solo
Yeah I totally understand...SCV has a very unique style. I already tried auditioning for them a few years back but I don't really count that lol
3:53... You're a blast fan huh? hahaha i love being a drummer nerd. You can catch on to so many things
Very nice! Good improvisation, especially at 3:00! BRO!!!!!!
lovin the ghost flams at 2:05. you should write man if you make up stuff like this on the spot.
Damn, dude. I think you did a great job :)
5/5
wow dude, that was insane! i mean the sound to vid ratio was kinda off a little, but it was still sick! u ripped that shit 5/5
this is pretty nice. I suck at improvision myself because i get confused and repeat myself too much :P
dude.........you're a beast, i tried to do that and my arms felt like jello
@finemusician10 thanks man! My technique has changed a lot since then (this was about four years ago). But yeah, I don't choke up on the stick as much and I was pretty nervous when playing. Thanks. :)

I'd totally do the gilr on the right... by the way cool video man!
@kandorei101 haha thanks, my technique and playing has changed dramatically over the years (this was shot 4 years ago). But thanks again!
Love the ghost sticking!
@glennsnare09 Haha yes, I am. Although I had originally taken that lick off of Brian Perez's I&E tenor solo (I think it was 2004) and had implemented it on snare drum. But yes, it is pretty similar (if not identical, it's been a while) to the one in blast!
@odacepkezen I appreciate your exceeding ability to make asinine comments. I'm glad there are people like you out there in our world!
haha. those ghost notes were wicked cool
nice job i dont see how you could complain with that i almost wasnt impressed until 2:30 u just blew me away nice job.
Pretty good =] I'd like to have seen a few center-to-edges though
@drmcbeats Thanks! UT is terrific. Pretty difficult but it's been really awesome!
now on to the topic of this video, Yeah mang this guys pretty good, Thumbs up
around 3:55-3:57, that part of my solo is from Brian Perez's 2004 I&E solo, if I remember correctly.
nicely done! you have a mission.
dude that was a pretty damn good solo
I happen to like this bro! Good job.
That was really good!
So clean, I like it
That was....... incredible
@thempercussion this is an individual performance for one. A solo he made up... On the spot lol. You can do whatever you want to do in a solo you created. as long as the sound quality and consistency is not effected.
i agree. those ghost notes really really threw me off... hahaha
AWESOOOME JOB BRO ;) I MEAN IT TOO YOU HAVE HARDCORE TALENT. PEACE!!
I'm "ghosting" the notes. Essentially, my right hand hits the quarter note every time. This is the sound of 17 popcorn makers going off at the same time
That's correct. And nah, no drum corps this year. I drum at UT in Austin, though.
**NOTE!**
this was sick.
great work dude :)
@SpacePyro dude your freaking awsome i dont matter what they say i think you a BEAST
@drummerJVB Thanks man. I've been playing for about 9 years.
Nice performance. I'm very interested because my ten yo son has to do similar at his school talent quest. Ignore all the negatrons, they think they are better. If so, they watched didn't they? Keep going, you have talent. Don't stop until you reach the top:)
great work man!

if people have any negative comments to say about this dude then they're just fucken jealouse cause this kid put time n effort into his playing . well done ! bravo!
The popcorn is ready! But srsly, good job : )
@DrummingKid101 At the time this was taken, a Dynasty DFX14 I believe.
