1999's Christmas ident was almost my childhood encapsulated into one ident. It's everything I remember about Christmas when I was younger and how amazed I was by animation ❤️ This was fantastic to watch... even in May!
Love this video, I grew up in the 90s and was very much watching the BBC more than any other channels during that time. I remember all of these, 90 and 91 and 99 being my favourite. These are great. I watch this video around Christmas and it's great to take me back. Thanks for a great video and commentary!
So the 1990 ident is the one that brought me the most nostalgia, I was 10 at the time and it what I think of when ever I think of Christmas and the bbc
The 1999 ident fully redeemed BBC One. There are many features which grab the viewer's attention. The BBC One balloon made its first appearance in a Christmas ident, the image of Santa in the sky and the soundtrack. It's just an excellent ident.
The bosses thought the 1992 Christmas ident was too jolly to play the national anthem over, so instead, the announcers ended the day with a picture of Her Majesty.
Hi Adam, Really enjoy your channel and the idents of yesteryear and the info you add,as I no longer live in UK it is a great way to remember the past, plus I get box sets from the old days as loved the programs of the day,I remember Grange Hill being filmed at my School as if it were yesterday, but when I look at the film of my school it looks dated in a way, time flies so on that note wishing yourself, family and fellow followers a Happy New year.
The BBC1 Christmas ident for 1992 was actually considered to be too jolly to be used for the national anthem during closedown, so a portrait of the queen was used instead.
Given the length of this video, you could have edited it to show the stings and animated trailers so viewers saw the context of the Christmas idents, but disappointingly you have shown the bare minimum, despite context, continuity and trailer footage showing how clever these idents actually we're.
The 1998 ident was boring. There's no other word to describe it. Nothing to hold the viewers' attention. All we have are some animals walking about, and then they walk off a few seconds later. Dull, Dull, DULL!!!

Is it weird I'm American, and I love watching these BBC Christmas idents every year?
So the 1990 ident is the one that brought me the most nostalgia, I was 10 at the time and it what I think of when ever I think of Christmas and the bbc
Precisely. I was 10 too and remember it well.
The 1999 ident fully redeemed BBC One. There are many features which grab the viewer's attention. The BBC One balloon made its first appearance in a Christmas ident, the image of Santa in the sky and the soundtrack. It's just an excellent ident.
Love 💕 Christmas idents from BBC 1
The bosses thought the 1992 Christmas ident was too jolly to play the national anthem over, so instead, the announcers ended the day with a picture of Her Majesty.
Same happened in 1994 but normal idents were used.
I'm 47 and still remember the jolly 1990 ident tune every Christmas.

I love all of the idents from 1990-1996
1993 remains my fav. The daytime version with Santa was superb.
The 1990 ident has the best music of any of the idents.
The daytime version of the 1993 ident has Santa flying and bears looking at him.
1st time I’ve seen the 1990 ident, was based in Saudi Arabia at the time, and just never seen it. Thank you.
BBC1 Christmas Idents of the 200th decade (1991 to 2000)
I like the two characters in the 1996 Ident, especially the one twiddling their moustache.
I use to and still do love the original globe of bbc1. Brilliant video 👏👏
Adam Martin you show us 🎉 what BBC has to show us

Love this!
Advanced Happy New Year Sir!
Another great video😊
I'm back to look at some more rare idents
The 1992 Ident was considered"Too Jolly" for the national anthem to be used at closedown, so they used a portrait of the Queen instead.
The BBC One Barman Ident is a very RARE Ident from 1991
The tune for the 1998 Christmas ident is the familiar tune Personent Hodie.
If you look at the baubles in the 1995 ident, you can see they are two 1s.
1999 is the best thing ever :D
You forget to mention both the daytime version of the Christmas 1993 ident and the wrapped version in Christmas 1994, mate
You didn't show the full version of the night version of the 1993 ident. Plus there was also a daytime version. Also, there were 3 idents in 1994.
The 1997 Ident isn't my favourite, but it has its charms. I like the "Lords are leaping" variant. The "partridge in a peartree" is very boring.

The 1998 xmas ident. What??
At near the end of the year Saturday 4th October 1997
1998 xmas ident. What?? Seriously?
BBC ONE
I wonder was he paid?
I found the 1994 ident to be the dullest of the 1990s era.

Oh, sod off.
The 1998 ident was boring. There's no other word to describe it. Nothing to hold the viewers' attention. All we have are some animals walking about, and then they walk off a few seconds later. Dull, Dull, DULL!!!
With the possible exception of the 1999 ident, they were all trash!!!
Can't beat the excitement of 1990.. 1999 is good too, but most are OK....
