- BEST 2023 Buyers Overview - ALL Sub-Compact Tractor brands - Your 2023 buyers' overview on 13 major brands. This video is intended to help you narrow down your search to a couple of the manufacturers that you feel are the best fit for your needs. Not all Sub-Compact tractors are created equal. I mostly highlight the Loader and Backhoe capabilities in this overview.

The 13 Models I cover in this overview are:
Massey Ferguson GC1725
Kubota BX23S
BadBoy 1025H
Yanmar SA223
LS MT125
TYM T224
RK Tractors RK24
Branson 2505H
New Holland Workmaster 25s
John Deere 1025r
Mahindra eMax 25L
Kioti SC2520
Bobcat CT1025
I went to buy a Kubota BX23S and ended up buying a Massey Ferguson GC1725MB. Side by Side at the dealer the GC1725 was just a better-looking tractor in my opinion. Plus, it did a couple things better than the Kubota and I got a couple extras with the Massey Ferguson I was not getting with the BX23S. I got filled tires, a thumb for the backhoe, and a pallet fork attachment. I love the quick attach feature and use it every time I take the tractor out of the building.

Thank you for not wasting most of your video talking and not saying anything like other videos I've seen. Great info!
Awesome comparison! Well done. 👍 thanks.
very nice breakdown. thanks!
💥 You did a great job putting this video together. Very well done!! Super informative!
*Keep on tractoring!*
Appreciate it! Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
Wow! This is the video I needed. Thanks for the hard work.
Appreciate the feedback 🙏 Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
WOW!!!!!!!! Looks like a lot of research was put into this video. I really enjoyed all the info, thanks so much for sharing! Again… can’t wait for your next one :)
Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
This helped tremendously in my search for a tractor. Thanks!
Glad it helped! Thanks for watching and commenting! 👍
Great reviews, I purchased an RK 21 2/2022 , I couldn’t be happier with it, 54 inch mower, loader and a 48 inch offset tiller. Great price and service at Rural King of Washington PA.
Awesome, thanks for sharing. 👍🏻
Picked a Kioti CS2520, and I have absolutely no complaints. The JD 1025 with loader and belly mower was $30k. Kubota was $28k. Kioti was $19k, with a better warranty and greater loader capacity and more hydraulic capability.
Kioti is a good tractor. Congrats 👏
Where did you find that deal?
Awesome breakdown. You saved me a ton of time. Thanks
I'm glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
Great Job!!! Thanx!
Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
Very helpful and clearly explained. Hydraulic pump volume may be a very helpful metric for those considering other attachments.
Appreciate it 🙏 I'll keep that in mind for my next comparison video. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
Good information . Thanks .
You're welcome 🙏 Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
This is great, keep it up we need more.Big up

I have had my JD 1025R for 7 years and it’s been a great unit.Remember price shouldn’t be the only metric to consider when buying. Things like dealer network and parts availability should be high on the list of considerations. The key factor for me at the time was the ease with which the loader, mower deck and other attachments could be changed. At my age I don’t need to be on the ground fighting mower brackets and PTO shafts. Love my JD.
I agree that price isn't everything. I choose Massey and their parts are affordable, available and so far they stood behind their product and service 100%. Lov3 the quick attachments that was standard on my GC1725MB. There are several great brands out there in the sub compact category especially. JD is one of them. Can't go wrong with that history of JD as long as a couple extra bucks dont hurt the wallet.
JD also has better resale price
No one of any age needs to be on the ground fighting mower brackets or PTO shafts, or anything else.
Wow, I can appreciate the time you put into this... Great video, I have the Kubota BX23s no complaints so far.
Appreciate it 🙏 💯 Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
Yep, me too
nice🔥🔥 It's engaging!

Again thanks so much for this review. If possible would love to see something similar for compact tractors .
Appreciate it! Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
I appreciate👏 your Video💖
Thanks for watching and commenting! 👍
Nice overview. I have a couple of friends who own Kubota BX tractors who were impressed with the power of my GC2610.
Appreciate it! Yeah, Massey's marketing isn't as good as Kubota goes but I think comparing the same class of tractors Massey is superior overall. Thanks for watching and commenting! 👍
love this video❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for watching and commenting! 👍
Always the best, pepper dem. Dope

❤You are the Awesomest Awesome person. Turning 66 in June and I want a sub compact Tractor. My hubbies is way big for me. This video helps me so much!!!
Much appreciated. I am glad it was helpful. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
awesome video i love it😍😍
Thanks for watching and commenting! 👍
Great breakdown - As a note, Kioti is assembled in Wendell, North Carolina. Not china or Korea. Although the tractors are BUILT in Korea, as are the TYM, New Holland, LS, Bad Boy, Branson, Bobcat, RK, and some of the Mahindra machines, final assembly is done stateside.
Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
A man who's after my heart. Great list my friend, keep up the good work.
Much appreciated 🙏 Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
thank you
Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
Good video I enjoyed watching it! I just bought a Kubota bx1880 and I love it 18,985 out the door. I didn’t know Massey had that much more lift capacity I like them also but I liked the treadle pedal on the Kubota
Congrats on the new tractor! $18,985 I assume was without a backhoe, right? Thanks for watching and commenting 👍
nice vid i rlly enjoyed it💙💚💛
Thanks for watching and commenting! 👍

While I only have one sub compact tractor I can't give a comparison But I love my Massey GC1723 have been very happy with it. It's just a handy tractor when I don't need a big one for the job. It works great in the garden.
Awesome 👌 Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
Great🧡❤️

Hey, Can you do the same for the "Compact" tractors?
I really appreciate that you include both the loader and the backhoe, since that I was I'm looking for.
Weight and physical dimensions would be great to include there too!
I will definitely try to put something together on compact tractors in the future. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
great video---i recently purchased a badboy 1025h and it came with the 3 cylinder yanmar as well, not the kukje. something to look into
I'll definitely look into that. I have a BadBoy Maverick Zero turn. Love it so much that I thought about getting their tractor also. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
Great vid - very informative and helpful - - quick question - - the avg prices you found, that's the machine with loader and backhoe included? Thanks again. I'm a dummy - - found the answer - - beginning of video ... anyway - - still very informative - Thank you
Much appreciated 🙏 Yes, those prices are for the TLB packages. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
I own a 2016 new holland 54d cvt with a loader ......now fokes I have had a lot of different tractors over the years and have operated many different manufacturers...I am so impressed with CNH new holland this tractor is very stout and very reliable I would definitely recommend it for small hobby farm or home owner
supper good💘💝😻

Massey Ferguson didn't surprise me I've been looking at them .
I love my GC1725. It is very surprising what it can do for the size of the machine. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
I love my Massey Ferguson at the time when I bought it new it was 10,000 thousand dollars cheaper than john deere and Kubota and in my opinion was a much better tractor
Great information now I'm more confused than ever. LOL. I think it was great information my only thing is I'd like to see (most have a larger and a smaller subcompact) is comparison of the same sizes... then maybe those with only one size. I know do it yourself. I took all the info you provided and put it on an excel sheet, but when comparing I keep asking myself wonder if the larger one here would rank higher against the rest or if the ones ranking higher would still be higher if they were the smaller tractor? that's where I'm confusing myself.
I might make a video on the next series up. I personally like the smaller sub compact tractors. It all really depends on your overall needs and what you will be using it for, though.
I had a Massey gc 2300 couldn't get a hydraulic controller for it , to replace one. Traded for John Deere 2025r loved the Massey but parts were hard to get, they didn't make my controller anymore ! To bad lasted 17 years and was still running good all but that! Robert
Cool vid, I was impressed🤎💜🖤
Thanks for watching and commenting! 👍
Much love from 🇲🇦

I’m looking to buy my first subcompact next year sometime. Backhoe and front loader would be nice, but my priority implements will be brush-hog, ‘belly’ mower, and rototiller. Would your recommendations change given these considerations?
I have the rototiller 44in, and it is perfect for this size tractor. I think it could easily handle a 48in also. I would noy recommend the backhoe for everyone since that is something not everyone will use a lot. Handy to have but its expensive insurance.
Got my massey 1725 brand new in 2022 with the loader, backhoe, and 6 attachments with 0% for 84 mo for $28,000.. I got the full Bxpanded lineup also.. It's awesome.
6 attachments is key. Sounds like you got it set up very nicely. I really like my Massey also. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
Mind sharing where you got this deal. In the market now
Not just where but what all attachments did you get?
@@nateyoung6331 grapple, forks, bushhog, tiller, boxblade, and graderblade
WOW!!
Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
Thanks for doing this. I hope to be buying a subcompact tractor in about a year. I usually go with the most expensive whatever, but I like what I've seen with the Massey. Good job, keep em coming.
I am very pleased with my Massey Ferguson GC1725MB. Great tractor! Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
Great video.kioti makes the bobcat tractor and LS makes the newholland workmaster.
Thanks for watching and commenting! 👍
Can you do something like this for compact or mud level tractors like the Kubota L series/Branson 15 and 20 series chassis etc, that would be great
I'll definitely give that a try in the future. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
Thanks for doing this , I looked at all of them too, I would of went with a 1025R for the built quality and confort but that was close to 15k more than the GC1723e I bought here in my area in canada I had a Chinese compact with a backhoe for 16 years love that thing never broke in ~ 500 hours of work aside the backhoe that was always poping cylinder seals (pressure was probably too high ) I changed because it was way to big for my new lot. I also noticed that I don't really need a backhoe, after all for the few time I might need it I may as well go rent a kubota at home depot, so I went for the front snowblower instead. I love my GC1723e it is about twice smaller than my older compact tractor but has almost the same lift capacity while being able to mow the lawn. It just need a bit more weight for traction and ground clearance but that is the case of all Sucompact . All that to say that you just showed me that I ended up doing the right choice + my dealer is 15 min from here :-).
The Massey GC series is a fine sub compact tractor. Can't believe it's not the industry leader. Marketing isn't the greatest, but the tractor definitely delivers. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
CHEERS!!😻

wow liked⚡❤️

What was the criteria you used to compile this list. Enjoyed the information you provided. Reason I ask about criteria, TYM has a T25 and provides the rural king with a RK25. Those tractors are still considered a sub-compact. They have better break force and lift capacity than the two you mentioned in your video. Plus the backhoe has great numbers of memory serves me correctly. Great video for the tractors mentioned.
Appreciate it. I chose 1 sub compact from each manufacturer. Some have 2, so it did make it challenging to pick which one. I tried to be as fair as possible. Making sure the rear tires were all similar, engine size similar, weight similar and etc. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
The Kioti is now assembled in Wendell, North Carolina
Awesome, thank you for that information. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
Great video. What are your honest thoughts on the LS tractor. I have a dealer near me, and in the compact line 25 HP. The LS seams to be the beafiest built of them all. So as far as the sub compact line what are your thoughts about the LS. I love the price.
Having a reputable dealer close is important. LS is a good budget based tractor that a lot of people have success with. I thought about getting one myself but ultimately went with Massey Ferguson. Good luck! Thanks for watching and commenting! 👍
LS MT125 Dipper Stick force is 1,332 lbs.
When it comes to the John Deere I don’t know if they’ve changed the rearends from being made out of aluminum back to steel, but that and the fact that they’re so pricey. And that I’d be afraid that I’d be driving it close to a fence and it might decide to jump over it. Now the Mahandra may be put together in my home state of Texas, but I’ve heard that they weren’t standing behind their warranty, and dealers for them are few and far between. Also can you review the Summit brand or is there a problem with that brand .
Thanks for the feedback. I will get around to the Summit brand soon. Need to find a dealer around me to get a feel for it. Haven't had the chance to actually see it in person yet. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
I Chose An LS Mt122 Last Year Because It’s One Of The Few Tractors You Can Add A Backhoe Later And Not As A Complete Package !!! The Power And Quality Of That Tractor Is Awesome And The Price Was Much Lower Than The Competition Other Than Kioti Which Was Comparable At My Dealership !!! It Made My Choice Easy And Much More Affordable And I’m Totally Happy With My Beautiful Blue Tractor !!! The Yanmar Engine Was The Icing On The Cake And Don’t Need Anymore Horsepower Than It Provides !!!
Good point on the option available to add a backhoe later. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
What did it cost
@@ralphllivrah9551 It Was $15000. 00 With A Front Loader And An Added Bolt On Cutting Edge On The Bucket With No Other Attachments And I Bought It In July 2022 !!! I Then Bought A Speedco 3 Point Quick Hitch And A 60 Inch Back Blade For Another $1000.00 When I Went Back To Pick It Up !!! Hopefully You Have A LS Dealer Nearby To Look At One And The Price Hasn’t Gone Up Too Much Since I Bought Mine !!! To Add A 60 Inch Mower Deck Was Another $3000.00 If You Want One !!!
Thank you, still deciding favoring Yanmar as of now?
Awesome, good luck in your tractor journey. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
Good video, and I feel like you nailed your recommendation! However, you're way off on the Yanmar 223's bucket force. That tractor should be #1 on your list for that spec, with 2800 pounds of bucket cylinder force. I know because I own it. Yanmar's subcompact backhoe is oversized for the SA223, in a good way. It's the same backhoe they put on the SA324, SA325, SA424, and SA425, which are larger compact machines. Note that this applies to Yanmar's Woods Equipment-sourced backhoes, which they've had since 2017 or so. Earlier models were Ameriquip backhoes - good, but not quite as powerful.
You are correct. The bucket force should have been #1 in that category at 2800 lbs. The Massey still got it the top spot at the dipperstick rating of 1748 lbs vs. the Yanmar's at 1590 lbs. Thanks for bringing that to my attention.
I would still go with kubota because of their fantastic quality I like to call them the Toyota's of the tractor world
But I like Honda over Toyota 😂 Thanks for watching and commenting! 👍
I have a jd 1025r. If I was doing it again I would probably go New Holland or Massey Ferguson. Dealer near you and their service (good or bad) should also be a factor in your buying decision. The last thing you want is an orphan tractor. A brand that is here today and gone tomorrow. (Branson)
Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
I own an LS MT125. The part numbers for parts on the LS are the same part numbers for the New Holland. Must be some connection.
Thanks for watching and commenting! 👍
LS is made in Rocky Mount , NC
LS is assembled in Battleboro, North Carolina
Nice, thank you for sharing. 👍🏻
Dream your dream
Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
Excellent rewiew, can you make it in metric as well, i be very gratefull😀
In my version of this, I will. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
Thanos, wow so many choices!
Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
Kubota breakout spec of 901lbs is 500mm forward. It is 1286lbs at pin per my manual. Other tractors in video appear to use spec at pin.
Should have also added that this is the best comparison video I’ve seen on tractors. Great work!
Thanks for the info! I will have to double check all the manufactures specs because I think you are correct, most manufactures rate breakout at the pin. And the Kubota is rated at 500mm .Thank you for watching and commenting! 👍
What do you mean by dipperstick force ? I’ve never heard that term before .
Dipper, Dipperstick or dipper arm all referring to the same thing. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching and commenting. 👍
@@lawnBot still don’t know what you’re talking about when you say dipper stick, dipper arm. Please be more specific. Are you referring to the boom on the backhoe ?
Those prices must be bare tractor not with loader and backhoe. Thank you for all your work on this !
Appreciate the feedback and thank you for watching and commenting! 👍 The prices listed were for the TLB combo.
@@lawnBot Thank you for responding ! Maybe I can afford a tractor :-)
LS Tractors are made in Korea, final assembly in North Carolina. I bought a MT122, same specs and equipment as the MT125 you listed except it has the 21.75 HP Yanmar. Loader and Backhoe, no belly mower for $15,500!
How are you liking the MT122 , I'm looking at a brand new one with a loader and backhoe for 20k. I'm in texas
@@txsaint7992I like it a lot! My property has ditches on all 4 sides. it has saved me a broken back. I have only had two problems with it, they add a manual seat lift with the backhoe option, it cut the seat switch wiring. Also I added a ripper blade and a manual thumb to the back hoe to get stumps up. I bent the pin between the rams on the boom and dipper stick, making it where I couldn't lock the boom. I did this by carrying the stumps, I don't think it would have done this if I had locked the boom first. I straighten the ears out and used a harden pin. I did pay 15500 for mine, but that was 3 years ago here in NC. Wished I had gone with the MT125, MT122 has not failed me, Its just not Tim the toolman....
I see you this video you paired the massey 1725 with the cb 65 backhoe. Then in another video you show that you have a massey 1725 with the bh 2720 hoe. My question is which hoe would give me more digging power or are they basically the same with a different number system? I purchased mine a year ago with the bh 2720 hoe.
I reached out to the dealer. They are basically the same. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
Kioti Warranty is 6 years not 4. Also not made in China as stated. You mention Bobcat made in USA but it is assembled on the same line as Kioti by Kioti (Daedong Industrial) is Kioti Tractor.
Fair and accurate comment. It is getting hard to find a tractor or other machine that is even 100% ASSEMBLED in USA.
I wish the prices you have listed were the same here in Alaska. Have to add another 10-15k. 😢
Oh wow! That is insane. But hey, you get the northern lights up there in Alaska 😁 Thanks for watching and commenting! 👍
@@lawnBot Yw. Enjoying your videos. We are a remote homestead 13 miles from the closest road and town. We are at the point we NEED a tractor. To many stumps and trails to fix. We had a nice LS lined up but it got sold from under us. Seems to happen at times. It will happen for us sooner or later.
Thanks! Hope you find a tractor soon. I'm not sure how popular it is up there in Alaska, but you might try tractorhouse.com to find a decent deal.
Ive been hunting a tractor 2 years, the amount tractors have gone up since I started is staggering, Im almost ready to just cut bait and get back on a wheelbarrow and shovel
I have heard that parts for the foreign ones are difficult to find. Does anybody have any input on this, please?
Which manufacturers are you referring too? Almost all motors are foreign on these tractors.
@TractorChatter I know very little about these. I can not remember the names, but I heard that some parts are interchangeable. I'm just trying to get all the info I can so I can make a decent decision. I'm not going into business for myself. I'm just looking for a helping hand around the house.
Were these ranked or just numbered for ease of referance?
Just for ease of reference. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
John Deere; pay a lot more and get a lot less.
Kioti makes the bob cat tractors. LS used to make the New Holland tractors and they still might. The bad boy is a rebadged branson.
Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
I think LS Tractor is assembled in North Carolina.
Battleboro, NC? Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
What was the reason not mentioning the Case/ International?
Does CaseIH make a sub compact tractor in 2023? I know they make a compact but could not find any sub compacts in their current offerings. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
@@lawnBot I was looking at their compacts a couple of years ago, but I really don't know about now, ended up with a JD 2025 with 90 hrs. on it, and love it, just have to be careful with these small tractors, they can be really tippy
