The frustrating thing about the lack of transfer results is we were told “win, and the recruits will come.” We were a couple yards away from a likely CFP appearance and it’s been crickets. If this year is going to be anything more than an anomaly we need to reload.
BYU has their own private portal through the return missionary program. BYU does a good job balancing what they offered players before their missions and keeping great talent enticed to stay. Not too worried about them.
BYU has to protect the brand. HS kids wanting to play for BYU know what BYU requires of them. BYU likely seeks players they passed on previously, that already know the culture, but have shown they have developed more than expected. When you only recruit at the grown up table, your choices are more limited.
I’m not confused at all. With the new era Of smaller roster size, portal, and NIL you only go after players are going to improve what you already are. You’re not just adding depth Unless it’s a position of great need there. So BYU is going for difference makers to approve the roster not just bodies. That is the way.
Transfer Portal is geared towards semester timing rather than football timing. Would be great if they kept the portal closed until mid January. After CFP after the holidays, after the bowls. Then allow the kids to join new football programs while completing the semester at the previous school. It’s all online anyways. No reason a kid can’t be participating in spring ball at BYU while completing a semester at the U of U.
@@LockedOnCougarsI tried to listen on Amazon as well and the episode wouldn't load. I tried some other podcasts to eliminate the possibility of mobile data being the issue, and those podcasts all played fine.
Did BYU lose out on the big offensive tackle from Las Vegas who flipped from Oregon? Did he flip back to Oregon or is he still weighing his NIL options?
I am all onboard with your comments concerning the NCAA. They are destroying this great opportunity for young men an women. When I saw the Heisman ceremony and the candidates had thousands of dollars worth of bling on their necks and writs, it was so appalling to me. Cam Skataboo (ASU) should have been the winner. Guess what, no bling, just grit!
@malaw514 Byu has enough QB'S now as it is Wilson is on the outside looking in. He doesn't fit in the qb room, its a numbers game hed have to beat out at least two other qbs,and hes just not talented enough to do that.
@@kenmack158 I wouldn’t consider anything Utah has done as acceptable evaluation. He can take Bourgets spot and try to battle Hillstead, Lugo and Watson after next season. Keeney shows up the year after that. No reason not to give a former 4 star a shot. Debate it all you want but given how 75% of the viewership was bitching for Gerry most of the year, it’s not like we can take cougar fan qb observations seriously anyways.
@ It’s not about being a fan. The facts are he was a 4 star prospect. That’s a fact. He won the back up job at a power 4 school and got several games under his belt as a true freshman. Those are facts. Those facts are worth a roster spot. But keep slinging your opinion.

A couple of losses away more like it.
@ if they just had 1 loss, they are most likely in. Especially if that loss isn’t to Kansas

LOL!😅
What I am hearing is "byu is a cult. We have plenty of members"
BYU makes up alot if their needs, not just thru the portal, but high school recruits, and JC Transfers!

@ very brave of you to admit that. Bless your heart.
@@malaw514 lolol
Lots of impact seniors leaving the program, would love to see some additions at receiver and o line
Fun watching UA-cam, but audio problems on Amazon Music. They post late too.
What happened with Amazon? I am happy to look into it.

I sent email too describing problem
How many starters last year were from the portal?

Yeah what’s going on with the Bishop Gorman recruit?
Gentry served his mission in Orem

The only P4 team BYU is outperforming in the transfer/recruitment cycle is 1-11 Purdue. Something is deeply wrong.
Need + talent + fit + price. Plenty of opportunities to miscalculate.
So nothing's wrong because they're spending a ton of time in portal recruiting... and not getting results?
Jake, BYU has already moved on from Wilson. They were asking a lot in NIL.
Good news Wilson isnt good enough for byu period
A new OC
Utah spit Wilson out. Why on earth would BYU want him?
Byu doesn't need Isaac Wilson not now not ever
That’s a silly statement. Shoring up the QB room is always a good idea.
