AURORA has said that this lyric refers to the practice of “conversion therapy” in which they try to “pray the gay away” to force people to conform to heterosexuality. She pointed out that even in liberal Norway, this is, unfortunately, legal.
Great reaction as always👍 Love this song and mv (yes, I’m repeating myself a lot lol) The dance has gone viral, so you may also have heard it on Social media. "Cure for Me" addresses the widespread misconception that LGBTQ+ individuals can or need to be "cured". Aurora, bisexual herself, challenges that view, stating that nobody needs to be cured for love and hoping there will never be a cure for human nature. In the same interview, Aurora dives deeper into the song, touching on the legality of conversion-therapy and personal shame for being oneself. In the video she also addresses her own quirkiness (which we love) like for example head shaking, hand movements and eye expressions❤️ Aurora actually didn’t want to become an artist, but her mom convinced her that she needed to share her music, that she could help people with her music. She has certainly helped me❤️🦋 Could you please react to “The Seed” live at HAIK (the male choir was a surprise to her) “Animal” official video 😍
The melody is an homage to Aquarela do Brasil" Watercolor of Brazil', written by Ary Barroso in 1939. If you have little knowledge of Samba or Bossa Nova music, you may recognize a similar tune from a Mario game...
Cool 😊. It's very far from my favorites, but then again she doesn't make bad songs, and I really enjoy the video 😄I assume it's Tim Burton inspired. I tend to prefer her "moody" songs, but I appreciate she's having fun, and she needs fun songs like this as well to liven up her concerts.
This is ostensibly written for the LGBTQ+ community in solidarity in rejecting conversion therapy. But it's more broadly saying that I don't need to fit a mold; there's nothing wrong with me - I am perfect the way I am. It's a great message.
So many people thinking she used a line from another song when it's literally 3 notes. This happens accidentally probably on the daily with a new song. There's a limited amount of notes on the scale and our culture 99.9999% always uses the same. Even chord progressions are usually the same because of that. BUT: She does play video games so maybe she actually was inspired by Mario Card 😄 There are so many interviews or Social Media lives with her outthere it would be funny if she elaborated on this riff in one of them...
She’s not really talking about “conforming” at work, it’s more about being made to feel you’re at fault, or “not normal” if you’re in the LGBTQ+ community. She found it sad that people were forced to go through “treatment” for how they feel & who they love. Her answer was the neither she, nor anyone else, needed a cure for being who they were or loving who they love, and she’s 100% correct, we do not. We are perfect just as we are!
She wrote the song as a protest against the ridiculousness of conversion therapy. According to her esthetics, the melody and the figures were supposed to be ridiculous and annoyingly insane. But then we dig it 😁 🤡.
