the fact that a musician who 99.5 percent of his catalog is instrumental could hold us captive album, after album, after album, speaks so much to his genius. JLP's music changed my life.

Boy, if this man only knew how much joy he has brought me over the greater part of the last fifty years. One of a very few artists whose entire catalog I could just listen to end to end without ever getting bored, actually, the _only_ artist with a body of music this large I can listen to all of it. Thank you JLP.

Wonderful man and astonishing musician. Jean-Luc Ponty is the quintessential professional musician. I first heard his playing in a concert in Sydney many, many decades ago. I’m so glad he’s still with us. His Spirit, his Heart, so youthful. The joy of the music he has created and shared just seeps right out through his eyes. Thank you so much, Jazziz Magazine, for this precious interview!

When I was 15, I heard for the first time JLP. LP, "Imaginary Voyage". Today, 66, I have his entire collection. I've seen him live twice. Awesome.

Great interview. Great musician. I will always be indebted to Jean Luc Ponty. Aside from being a masterpiece, the album Enigmatic Ocean opened me up to instrumental music. From there, I found Zappa, Mahavishnu, Shakti, Brubeck, Coletrain, Benny Goodman, Stravinsky, etc., etc.

He is Brilliant, there are few masters left. He and Bireli work well together and sound dynamite. Saw him in Miami with his fusion group in the 70's, he was superb at the highest level. Brilliant!

Thank you for this interview. Fan of Jean-Luc Ponty the moment after first listening. I have brought the albums. I would even by the under wear. A small group top my list of musical artist. He is among them. A retirement well earned if that is the case. The gravity of his music will continue to resonate through my universe.

I think Ponty created his own music style which could be loosely called Progressive Jazz Rock or Progressive Jazz Classical. He is a major inspiration for me.

What he did was amplify his violin. Thats why you liked it and it 'spoke' to you. Not to mention he was playing advanced healthy music to listen to in an expert manner.

Interesting that he mentions Clifford Brown, who is none other than Rayford Griffin's uncle.
