Yes, for long I was a client - smoking - which I left 21 years ago at 58. Now a shareholder.
- I look at the demerger as - more money available for growth in core business. At higher returns, unlike in Hotels.
- Reason for Retaining 40 % ? I reckon in future further demergers would happen, like IT, paper, off-shore Co. So, some controlling stake, like this, may be useful if ITC is aiming for a holding Co ? I’ll vote for it, if needed.
Yes, for long ITC was a laughing matter, with analysts, anchors of TV. Saurabh Mukherjea, of Consistent Compounders fame exited ITC, only bcoz the investable surplus was largely in cash at low returns. I have high regards for the non-promoter type professionally managed Co, like ITC, L&T
