Because English is the world's primary language in a sense and we speak it in the USA already. Other languages are spoken in the home in the USA but once outside it is English. In many nations where English is not the native language English is the main language of choice to learn as a second language. It does not make it any "better" than any other I suppose but just the way it is. Maybe because England ruled so much of the world at one point? 😮
