Thanks! I used to play Gyruss on original NES and could beat %100 all targets and without taking any damage. Then it lets you continue and go through all the levels again but the levels have different patterns and are a bit more difficult. After beating 2 full rounds the remaining rounds are the same as the 2nd. I don’t have it memorized any more but I liked the game is very challenging but very fair.
Hi, thanks for making a TAS of this game. I have some questions: - Are you going to make improvements to this run? - Are you going to do a full 2 runs to show everything? - Is saving the "bomb"/"special attack" for the final boss actually faster than using them on the two "8-pod" bosses (since it can destroy 2 pods at a time)? Also those "middle" stages (with the 4 "spawning pods") could benefit from them too. - Is there any randomness in this game, or is everything constant? (referring to: enemy spawn locations and patterns, powerup spawn times and type of powerup, etc)
Hi. I don’t plan on any new work on the game. I haven’t tried any other routes regarding the bombs so you may be correct. The game does have randomness as some areas look like there could be a small delay then a shot but the game doesn’t let you fire every single frame,it changes depending on some algorithm. Additionally, a shot on frame 201 (just an example, not literally) makes the enemy dodge to the right but a shot on frame 200 or 202 it dodged to the left. That makes some of the aggressive bosses more difficult as them respond differently depending on the button presses of a particular frame. Excellent software development for its era.
This is pretty cool, Kevin. Thank you for sharing this. :)
