The amount of coordination and body control to drift a bike down a dirt road like that. Really fun to watch. That bloodied left knee would've been my entire body if I tried that
Footages has the power to seduce you! Amazing shooting! Dop and camera operator know how to do their job. Also the edit is beautiful!!!! Oh... yes the rider. Also. Ahhahaha
Nice video! It happened to me all the time on slopes that the chain jumps down. I have therefore added a chain guide! The song in the video is from Ben Bostick and is called "Blow off some steam" Somehow it fits!
That's what we were expecting too, even brought a spare tire just in case. Turns out we only got about 30% wear on the tire by the end of it. Maybe just have to slide it harder next time!
@@4tressed Someone encouraged me to end the film with drifting a corner repeatedly until the tire blew, similar to car drifting videos you might see - ha! We went another route with the story ending, was a great time. Thanks for the note and glad you liked it!
@@kaatdebusscher4522 We borrowed this bike for the shoot and I think it was a 2x Ultegra, no clutch. Didn't run into many issues despite hammering it! My favorite for rough stuff is a 1x with Di2 XTR rear derailleur though
Did you drift due to use of the rear brake or due to speed and lean of the bike? I am new to riding with a gravel bike... more of a runner usually :) But I am very interested in cornering technique...
Hey Marcel! All rear brake on this and shifting weight fore/aft to get more/less drift. You can push out the rear wheel a bit without brake but nothing like those long, full-turn slides. Hope that helps, enjoy the ride!
Hey Larry - yes, that Diverge from Specialized has a shock in the headset. They call it the FutureShock, takes the edge off of bumps, pretty great really.
Hey Jerome, in this case just the stock bar the comes on the Diverge, probably a 42cm size and alloy. My favorite is the S-Works Shallow Drop Carbon bar, what I used for cyclocross and road racing.
Sponsored by WTB. No wonder. I was going to ask, are tyres cheap these days? Good video! All we need now is a vid on "how to skid a gravel bike without crashing for dummies"
No tires were harmed in the marking of this film - believe it or not, we were still riding these tires for a while after this shoot. WTB Nano 42's, held up like a champ!
Hey Gabriel, yes it is and it's a fantastic bike for rough roads in the 700c format. The newer Future Shock is even better. The chain hopped off for a hot second and then right back on when the pedaling continued, good eye. I don't believe that drivetrain had a clutched rear derailleur which is something I've grown to love. Thanks for the note!
It's a shredding machine! In all honesty though, that futureshock is great for the rougher side of things. Throw a clutched derailleur on like the RX or newer GRX stuff with a double crankset and you're good to go into the hills - my preference over a 1x for mountain riding.
@@AllenKrughoff I have a gravel rig with 1x. Ugh hate it. Not low enough for loose gravel in California at least for me. I'm not the strongest cyclist. I'm thinking about the Diverge Sport with 105.
Well, wonderful, just wonderful! ... if it weren't for this disappointing anti-climax at the end, you know, when the declared sweet tooth didn't touch the boy's lemonade even on the glorious return from dusty roads. Come on, just a sip, man!
@@ronralph5726 the road. Lmao. I dont even take it on gravel but hey. I take good care of it. Its a lifetime warranty on the frame. And i plan on keeping it as long as it holds up :)

If i wanted to go in a straight line id rather be on the road. You will never see someone taking corners at 20+ mph on gravel maybe but they will be very long corners.

This looks like a rally car descent! Jesus! Best gravel bike ad though.
Wow...crazy fast with hair-pin turns!!
That feeling when you get your bike totally tuned in, size, fit, tires, pressure, brakes = sweet riding.
Loved every minute of this!
Super! 👍👍👍
Love it! Inspirational for sure! I’ll get there even at age 65!
That certainly was some fancy riding. Good fun!
Thanks! Easily the most fun I've had in front of the camera.
Wow so cool . Great man 👍

Mad skills !
I love it!
Badass. Just, badass.
First video and subbed. Great vid.
Rad!
Gravel is a lifestyle
Same as rigid mtb'ing.......just more hype. IMO!
So good. 🤘🏼
Thanks Josh - I think everyone needs more [somewhat safe] skidding in their life
Wow dude, This is the best gravel video I’ve ever seen 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 I’ll subscribe too
Logan Mill! My fave climb in Boulder! God I miss that town so much...
so roadies also know how to roost. you my dear friend deserve the title of "Steeze master, the steeziest roadie'
Ha! Surely there is someone more deserving but appreciate the title nonetheless - cheers!
very nice gravel riding, awesome 👍👍👍

This speed is insane 😱 Great video man!
I bet, This videos will make more boombing gravel bike in my country
Nice trick getting that chain back on while ripping down the road.
you mean at 3:05 ? That's not what happened there. What kind of an ad would that be that shows such a problem?
But I still prefer my belt.
