@12:20 mark, couldn't you have set the Z first by referencing the original top to the right of the bit, then set x/y? Nice review, thanks for doing this!
I have recently got a xtool D1pro 40watt and a Sainsmart 4040pro. Was wanting a laptop for using on both to keep in the shop. Do you think the Acer chrome book 315 would work for this? It has Intel processor N4500 4GB ram 64GB eMMC It’s $139 at Walmart. I’m not sure what the computer requirements are for these machines. Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, David
I would avoid chrome books. Most software is gonna require a windows PC. It doesn't take much of a computer to run the machines. I prefer a minimum of 16GB Ram for machines doing 3D modeling. If you have a TV in your shop, I would look at this with a wireless mouse and keyboard. This is what I run my Shapeoko on. amzn.to/4fmv8mY
@ Thank you. One mistake avoided! I am looking forward to getting these machines working after Christmas. I will probably be sending you some more questions then. I really appreciate your help. David

You can.
10:33 It is better to set parameter $1 = 255 in the GRBL settings. This will keep all the steppers enabled and prevent movement during tool changes...
It does make it easier to align initially. It would be a preference thing. Good idea though.
That may be the cnc i can afford. Might be able to do a few catch all traus or a cutting board on that
I started with one the same size. It is capable of making some nice projects.
Do you know if there are extension kits available for this machine?
They haven’t said anything about it.

Yeah, I guess you can call a $600 CNC inexpensive if you're comparing the price to the large one you have.
Compared to most 4040 machines, it is cheaper. Anything cheaper is gonna have a smaller work area
First!
Yes, you are.. lol
