Now that's how you build a beach front home bravo to their contractor's Storm proof windows everyone of them, above sea level structure this is a Beach house 🤝😘🥰
I still can’t believe so much of my city and beaches are gone.. lives here 43 years it’s all I know. Gonna take years to rebuild but it’ll never be the same
This home was designed to withstand the storm. We have the technologies to build strong homes what we need are strong building codes not bubble gum construction.
The only one recently built to withstand cat 4/5 hurricanes! Well, they have a lot of space around them now for a long while. Not fun to not be able to do anything there anymore. Can't swim, can't shop, can't sightsee, so that is a bummer, but, you still have your multi-million dollar home! ) :
This house was built with money from people who moved here. Most of Fort Myers Beach is middle class who have lived their entire lives on the island in the same home for decades. These people won’t be able to afford to rebuild in such a manner and will be forced out for the wealthy to move in.
@@ashleydavis3342 I fear you are right. I am a native islander born and raised, left 10 years ago. No one I know will be able to afford to rebuild and the greedy vultures will swoop in and do what they have always wanted to do, get rid of the locals for good. Heartbreaking doesn't even begin to describe what has happened.
We all know houses can be built to withstand storms. But it takes $$$...lotsa of it. These properties are going to be bought up by wealthy developers and sold to even more wealthy people. The current property owners, if at all possible, should hang on to the property and sell at top dollar. That is if they don't get taxed out.
@@nicholasmuro1742 I was born and raised there for 40 of my 50 years, and sadly you are right. It's already happening. They have succeeded mostly in getting regular hard working people, lower and middle class off the island in recent years. This is what they have been waiting for. Even for those that think they can afford to rebuild are already being faced with changes of flood zones, new astronomical building requirements and very little payouts from Insurance and fema, def not enough to rebuild especially up to the new codes. It's heartbreaking.
Hey - I am trying to reach the weather channel people - remind all of u out there reporting still in Florida/Justin Michaels - put a hat on & lotz sunscreen on ur getting burnt - every1 out in Florida sun/sunscreen & hats!

@@dianetillio9088 Well Diane no one ever asks for anyone's opinion on UA-cam, but they have a comment section for people to post comments and opinions. If you live or regularly vacation in FMB I'm sorry that it went to hell but it certainly did. Maybe after rebuilding it won't be such a nightmare.
Homes that were not destroyed should be a sample of how to build homes in the near future
Need to build all the houses just like that point blank.
The newer homes are built with hurricanes in mind. I bet that's what happened here
Plus you got shade under your house to park in or work under in summer .
Someone was praying over that house. God protected it.
Lol
No an engineer didn’t his job and so did a builder
amen.
Reminds me of the one home that survived hurricane Michael in Mexico Beach.
Thumbs up to the contractor that built that one

Whoever built this house......I think you are going to be busy for awhile
The entire bottom of that home was a closed off garage that is no longer there.
On purpose to let tidal surge thru
Yeah, I noticed that too. Damage on the bottom floor
It's built intentionally to break away during a surge.

I don’t think they like building codes in FL. That’s too much government control for them.
Sad to see the city now. Once sprawling beach city and now in ruins

AND YES - Who built that house & who put those windows in they need 2 teach every1 how they did it

It's amazing, they didn't even lose power however their internet service was down for several hours.
It was a cat 5 storm 158 mph with gusts up to 265 mph. No idea why they are still saying it was a cat 4.
Amazing ☑️☑️☑️🌚
I wonder who the builder/contractor was? That’s how you build a house! $$
ok......so tell us about the home then instead of leaving us hanging
Gotta be a hurricane proof home... 👏
Why did they do it??

That houses was built to withstand it. You see it’s raised up, nothing underneath it.
That’s my parents vacation home 😂😂😮
you’re tweaking, that’s my grandparents house 😭
Hurricane Ties win 🥇
You clearly see ALL the newer construction is fine...it a old homes/buildings and garges that litter the land....
But there's buildings all around it that are also fine.
They built it hurricane damage free. U got to have the money for this to happen
Third little piggy house
Keep reporting...

No offense to the people that live there but I went to Ft. Myers two years ago and it was awful. It was a trashy beach community.
Was this for your unsuccessful 💊💉drug rehab stint?

No one asked for your opinion of FMB. Your comment was inappropriate in this thread.
