I can actually say that my little five year old sister and i had a conversation about 26:12. She asked me what the glowy orb was and why their eyes lit up like Twilight's does when the Mane 6 use their elements of Harmony, I told her it had something to do with their love for each other, and I asked her what she thought that could mean. She said that it must mean that love is another element of Harmony, but it can't be shared among more than two people like Cadence and Shining Armor's love, because theirs is like married people love (she obviously meant "true" love or romantic couple love). Romantic love is a different kind of element of Harmony. I thought she was being pretty smart for a five year old.
Okay, while I don't think this particular piece of headcanon is the case... HOW HAVE I NOT HEARD OF ANY FICS THAT USE IT?!?!?! As far as concepts go it's right up there with some of my all time favorite stories, and this is coming from a guy that has over TWO HUNDRED individual stories in his FiMfic favorites!

Robert Callaghan i have the answer to everyones questions you all see how in the episode luna flys in the shield and relieves celestia well that means she is gone during the day time what is that you ask seeing to the other side of the planet think about it if it is day time in canterlot and luna controls the moon and watches the night then she must also watch the night on the other side of the world too so that is why she is only there around night time and not in the day when the attack happens
One thing about the whole "Why didn't Twilight tell us about her brother or foal sitter" thing is that where could she? The show has little to no moments of just talking and we're only introduced to the mane 6's families through flash back. We don't know if Fluttershy has any family and we don't know if AJ has any parents.
Wanna know something else? The color of Cadence's magical aura. Chrysalis' aura is green, whereas Cadence's is teal. Celestia, being the omnipotent alicorn of the sun, master of the magical arts, and AUNT of Cadence, would notice such an obvious change, given the fact that magical signatures are unique to the person/pony, at least according to Harry Potter and other stories featuring magic. Also, how the heck does Shing Armor and Cadence's love not get eaten by the thousands of changelings?

Although not really my favorite video of Antony C, it's definitely his best. I put this in my list of the best videos on UA-cam because I want to make a statement about simple analysis. The effort and love that went into this, and really that goes into this whole silly little fandom, is ASTOUNDING. I'll let you look into that yourself.
I remember the first time I watched this the ending was so dramatic and tense that it actually scared me. but now it gives me the good chills. Anyway I'm off to rewrite the entire series with this theory as canon. (Probably not really, but if this exists as a fanfic out there somewhere please let me know)
I know its been 2 years but I only just came up with this theory-- When Cadence said to Shining Armor that her love would give him strength, Chrysalis laughed at that because she knew that Cadence wasn't a changeling. From what we know, only changelings gain power from love, ponies get power from other sources. Chrysalis probably never realised that Cadence is a princess of love, so she would cast the mare away and think nothing of it. This is why she was surprised when Cadence and Shining Armor defeated her and her army, she never realised that love also gives ponies strength if used correctly. Love is a type of Harmony, but on a higher scale than friendship. And thus, has much more power when under the right control. ...weaboo at work ok bye
I know this video is rather old now, but looking back on it, I am left to wonder... Recently, Firebrand (AKA The Fiery Joker) did a video on FOBEquestria about taking A Canterlot Wedding too seriously, and he brought to the table a ton of things that I had actually never thought about before. It really challenged my whole outlook on Queen Chrysalis' plan and whether it was Ingenious as Albert Einstein at the science fair, or as filled with holes as her own legs of mouldy swiss cheese. In any case, I found it really interesting, and going back and watching this episode of Reviewing is Magic AFTER seeing Firebrand's video, just drove me nuts XP As the whole time I was waiting for one of you two to bring up at least one of the points he mentioned in his video, which of course, neither of you did =P Whether it fixes all of the problems you have with Chrysalis or not, or whether it just makes those problems worse, is rather up to the viewer. But you may enjoy looking over it a little bit, you might find something intriguing. Taking Chrysalis' Invasion Too Seriously Anyway, LOVED the video~ The head cannon at the end was genius, and really funny XD Stay awesome~

So...I must say you both just totally blew my mind and confused the flip out of me! I seriously love this video and you just make me laugh. I really wonder if anyone has yet. It honestly makes a bunch of sense, or feels like it would be. Like imagine that NMM decided to test the capabilities of Celestia and the others without giving away her not-being-still-corrupted bit. An invasion of fake illusionary creatures would be a very good opportunity and test to do so with. I mean... maybe it was Luna who tipped the city off about the invasion, if she wanted to test the Capital city's defenses the most, she would absolutely tell them an army is coming when it really is. I'm sure that Celestia can't see EVERYTHING so Luna would likely be able to teleport in and out of the shield, being an Alicorn who has had 1000 years to potentially perfect and hone her skills in an almost 0-G environment. Ofcourse then maybe she could have released Sombra after all this and told him to attack the Crystal City again, in hopes of figuring out how the Elements of Harmony could work. Her possible plan of figuring out how they work would still be a possibility, due to their godpowers of harmony being bestowed upon them. The 6 would still be a literal nightmarish foe for her to beat on her own. Ofcourse if that theory ever proves true, it'd be cool, but it probly won't happen. IF it did, I imagine it'd be the finale to end this series. Also would make sense how Luna ALWAYS looks at Twilight with either disappointment or disgust, either way, it's rather mean, even for someone who "Set her free from being Nightmare Moon" you'd think Luna would be a bit more grateful eh? I'm thinking that the Elements would not have destroyed Nightmare moon, since so far, it doesn't totally destroy evil as far as we've been shown. There's always a piece of the villain that survive if not their whole body. Like... Discord is the embodiment of chaos, which is the literal opposite of Chaos. Evil or good, the Elements technically should've melted Discord if it had the power to turn him into stone two times if it had the powers it seems to portray. I think the Elements just change the state of a thing, not like from alive to dead, but from active to dormant, from powerful, to weak, from physical, to corporeal. Luna is going to get her own episode in the next season apparently... Maybe it might set that up?

Rarity got wings when they went to go cheer on Rainbow Dash in the Young Flyer's competition. The definition of "alicorn" is a horse with both wings and a horn. Rarity was a unicorn, and she got wings in Season 1. So, temporarily, Rarity was an alicorn. Not true? I think not.
Here's A Head Cannon For you... The reason why Celestia Lost was because she failed on purpose. You See Celestia is a huge troll, Along why'll a little bit nuts about here crazy tests. Here's my thoughts what if Celestia Knew about Chrysalis From the beginning But just let it play out, and only acted out of obligation when Chrysalis Revealed herself. But in Reality She pretended to lose to progress her test... Oh but this test was not for Twilight, but for Cadence and Shining Armor. For as you know Cadence is a princess and not just anyone can marry a princess. So Celesstia used the changeling invasion to test how strong there love truly was as shown by the massive energy wave shield thing. As for where Luna was.... was there ever mentioned an account of casualties or injured during the changeling attack. No because while Celestia kept up appearances as a "helpless captive" Luna was watching over the subjects making sure No pony Got hurt in the invasion. Celestia now sounds like the got Loki of tests doesn't she.
Ok, the ending, my jaw DROPPED! Luna, Nightmare Moon, Chrysalis, it makes so much sense! To much sense, honestly. But it was as if all the pieces fell together. Luna, never turned good after all. She was playing everyone for the fool! It was truly mind blowing. Even if it isn't true. Or is it... Bare with me now. Remember that one episode where Luna created the evil nightmare thing, to punish herself? And the Mane Six had to go into dream land to kill it? What if THAT, the monster of nightmares, was the true darkness. The plotter, the planner. The devil behind the scenes. Luna didn't "create" it, it was a part of her all along. The monster is the demon she keeps locked inside. That is the planner part of her. The real Luna, is the nice one. The kind and wise leader. But the dark one is the part of her that takes over. Its a possessor demon. Their are three kinds of possessor demons, benevolent, malevolent, and rivalrous. The benevolent aids its host, granting them enhanced powers, in order to keep its host, and thus itself, alive. The second kind, is the malevolent. The malevolent possessor takes control of the body it inhabits, manipulating its host, or just taking control to bring about an ends to its own means. The third, rivalrous demons, are constantly in combat with its host. Each are constantly doing battle for control. Like two sides of the coin, good and evil. Yin and Yang. The monster that is a part of Luna is a rivalrous. It took control of Luna by feeding off her sorrow and insecurity, turning her into nightmare moon. After she was banished, the demon festered, testing its own power, and manipulating Luna. When finally the mane 6 hit Luna with the rainbow friendship harmony beams, the demon steps back, allowing Luna to take control, letting Luna, and the rest of the world, believe she has been reformed. However, in the moments where she would mysteriously disappear, the demon takes control, leaving her with no memory of the events. It is during these blackouts, the demon does just as you stated, took control of the changelings. It was it who was testing itself, establishing the limits of its own power. Luna doesn't know about her inner demon. She thinks that the inner demon is honestly something she created for the sole purpose of her own punishment. Her inner demon may become a villain in the future. However, that is just my theory.

But, where do the Changelings come from, then? Did she create them like her possible Night Guard bat-like ponies or are they their own species?
+ladyvenusdragon I think that they were always a real thing. "Chrysalis" probably just used them, setting herself as leader of them. Sort of like a chess game. A pawn makes it all the way to the end of the board and makes itself a queen. "Chrysalis" probably just inserted herself into the ranks and worked her way up.
I'm not sure that Crysalis defeating Celestia is proof that Celestia isn't God. She may have had a good reason to "allow" herself to be defeated. The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist, and the greatest trick God ever pulled was convincing the devil to crucify the Messiah.
Also almost two years later this video's 28:00-31:30 segment STILL sends shivers down my spine, gives me incredible goosebumps and makes me wierdly almost tear up for some reason.
But comedy aside, you both present very interesting points about the episode and made me think about this episode in a whole new light. I love the two of you together and you should do this again. Thumbs up if ObabScribbler's dramatic reading of "The Devil's Trick" lead you hear. I have a newfound appreciation for A Canterlot wedding or it was still just crappy writing.
Am I the only one who thinks that Changeling Invasion was not an actual invasion, but a farce. Just taking over Equestria and draining all the love would be wasteful and won't sustain hive for long. So Chrysalis launches this farce of invasion to achieve several goals: 1) Gather a ton of energy from ponies who protect their loved ones (either from changelings who already infiltreted Equestria or through forced draining) 2) Replace some ponies (colt\marefriends, children or parents, whatever) with more changelings to ensure constant flow of love to hive. 3) Force Cadence (Alicorn of Love) to blast them with hers and Shining Armor' Dual Limit Break. As I see it, it was an analog to Jesus feeding few thousand people with few loafs of bread and some fish. So, that way, Chrysalis gets a few metric tons of love AND establishes more stable source of food for her subjects. Also. few moments in this two-parter made me think that Celestia herself gave a green light, so to speak, to this plan. She just stads there, while Queen chew out the scenery, later threw a fight after one energy blast (considering magic battles in MLP follows same basic rules as Dragon Ball Z), Royal Guard bassicaly disappear from Canterlot, when shield goes down (except those two shmuck, who probably just went on coffee break). Don't forget Luna appearing after everything ends. So, replace "replacing Ponies" part with bunch of new lovable neighbors and lots of cute orphans left after invasion and Sun Princess gets a new powerful ally and covert op task force, two young alicorns (both future and current) gets some much needed life expirience and Chrysalis still gets her orchard to feed the hive. Everyone is happy in end.
Seriously, apart from the not-setting-up Cadence and Shining Armor, and the moral obviously, the main problem about this episode is that Chrysalis is stupid. But why shouldn't she be? It isn't said that every evil ruler has to be clever or good at planning. The changelings appear to be an insect-like species. Those usually have a queen that is born into that position, even if she is an idiot. So overall that isn't bad writing, it is just that Chrysalis is literally stupid.
Yeah, it's more or less cliche character design honestly. I mean... there's about an much reason why she couldn't be smart, her whole plan just doesn't make much sense ofcourse because there's like... little to no room for deviation, which if you invade and plan to enslave an entire kingdom as big as Equestria, then you'd defiinitely need to plan for SOME kind of deviation. Plus the whole thing would have been more of a misunderstanding and Celestia and the others could have Bargained with the Queen, but instead they do the predictable thing and blast her away. My only huge problem with the Canterlot Wedding, is that Chrysalis is "dealt with" just by ejecting her forcefully, when if anything, it could've been handled with, maybe some diplomacy. I mean this IS a show which boasts "Friendship is magic" yet, they never really got to what would be one of the penultimate friendship lessons, like... "Just because they look almost entirely different and are almost a whole other species if they actually arent, doesn't mean you should discriminate them" or something. It's more of a badly missed opportunity than a problem. And yeah... Celestia being owned was rather annoying too, since every possible episode they appear in, they build her up like an all-knowing deity, pulling some wierd and highly toned-down bible-style tests on the 6. Then with one episode, she gets wrecked. Was kinda seeing that happening ofcourse, since if Celetsia got Chrysalis beaten in that laser beam clash bit, instead of herself, then the changelings could have potentially been bargained with, but yeah. Either that, or the second part would've been more celebrations and junk because then Celestia herself probly could've broken the spell on Shining, juiced him with her solar beams, and ejected every one of the things way earlier. Forgot to post this a WHILE ago, Hahaha.
***** I think that Celestia didn't try to bargain might be because she was angry or annoyed about being beaten. In this exact episode it is shown that she isn't perfect. But I totally agree with you on your point.
MiXterioVlog In my opinion, the problem isn't that Chrysalis is an idiot, it's that she's PRESENTED as being competent and effective when she's not. The only reason her plan did as well as it did was because every heroic character was holding the Idiot Ball. If she was acknowledged as incompetent in-universe, that would be one thing, but she's treated as a legitimate threat when she's anything but.

Well, compare this awkward meeting with their previous awkward meeting in Luna Eclipsed. Even then Luna was clearly more friendly there. They have two distinctively different personalities. In the very least, Luna recognizes how to fake love. While Crystalis clearly does not.
You make a grievous error in attempting to use Christian mythology to analyze the show. Its rules are fundamentally diffrent as FiM is clearly based on Greek and Roman mythology. It's visible int he art design, the monsters, the mystic relics, the fact that the religion is a pantheon, in the fact that Equestria is clearly divided into city states, even a good portion of the ponies culture. You call Celestia "God" and say she is an allegory for Yahway, when she simply isn't. If she was she would have been stated to be the creator of the universe. She is not. Celestia, Luna, and presumably all other Alicorns are in fact Greek style gods. The Greek and Roman gods were in fact killable, could be injured, fooled, and had flaws. They were people, just incredibly powerful ones who lived forever and could do things which were impossible for mortals. They were life forms an order of magnitude above we specks but they were still people and still lifeforms. It stands to reason that Celestia follows the same logic. She can be killed, just not by any normal mortal, barring some mystical artifact of course. Furthermore if she was supposed to be Yahway, Celestia would be a far different person. FiM's writers enjoy portraying mythology correctly and as someone who has read the entire Bible cover to cover multiple times as a worshiper and as a scholar, Yahway is a cruel, spiteful, child and unless you conform to his seemingly arbitrary rules he will send you to be tortured in a place he created specifically to torment those who defy him. The only way out of this is to kiss up and follow his rules which he will never explain the reasons behind. This is the exact opsite of Celestia, a paragon of mercy. Celestia would not kill Discord despite the heinous crimes against ponykind he preformed. Celestia did not kill her sister when she was possessed by a demonic creature (Seriously read the comics before judging Luna. That was not her, that was an entity controlling her like a meat puppet.) Celestia did not kill King Sombra. Instead she banished or otherwise removed them from scociety but allowed them all chances to try and turn away and come to the light. All Celestia dose is selflessly spread kidness, mercy, and justice through her kingdom. She dose not rule reality, and there are lands byond hers which she has no controll over nor dose she desire to controll. Her character is a diety, but it is no the OP, vindictive, agessive, crule, and unfair christian god. It is a Greek style impossibly powerful person.

Revelation 20:2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, We see here that Jesus casts Satan into the bottomless pit for a thousand years, just like Nightmare Moon was cast out to the moon for a thousand years . Afterwards Satan is released, which is mirroring Nightmare Moon : Revelation 20:3 ... After that, he must be set free for a short time. Satan just like Nightmare Moon was released after the thousand years were over. This story has been repeated in Hollywood many times; when it appeared in this cartoon it didn't surprise me at all, this is a critical story that I've gotten the opportunity to see used in movies and shows time after time. What follow happening to Satan also actually mirrors the battle for Canterlot pretty well. The changelings attack Canterlot and then they are purged by, well, Shining Armor and Cadence's love / and the magical forcefield spell... This is mirrored in these verses where it talks about the "city he loves" and "fire came down". Revelation 20:7 Satan will be released from his prison 8 and will go out to deceive the nations in the four corners of the earth-Gog and Magog-and to gather them for battle. In number they are like the sand on the seashore. 9 They marched across the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of God’s people, the city he loves. But fire came down from heaven and devoured them. Finally I'll leave this little tidbit of information which I think sums up what we're seeing here perfectly: Ecclesiastes 1:9 What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.
Amber Slahlize Because I red it as a scholar in general, not a biblical scholar. I study most religions, jsut as I also study the sciences, physiology, and art. I am not a christian I am not biased towards the notion that Yaway must be a force of good. Approaching the religion from an unbiased perspective shows that the character is in fact, quite evil.

God is not love, son. It always has been separate from him. He might use it but it's one of his tools than himself. And yes, God has been defeated in the bible a couple of times. That one guy defeated his will by spilling his seed onto the ground instead of into his dead brother's wife and he apparently can't hurt iron chariots. Google it.

Hey there, Antony and BronyCurious! I've watched this episode over and over. It's one of my favorites. ObabScribbler did a story reading of an MLP story on her channel. It's called "The Devil's Trick", and was inspired by this video, particularly that bit at the end. I knew exactly what it was referring to because I'd seen this video before. It was pretty cool. I don't make up many theories about the show, but I sure love hearing other fan's theories! Friendship is Magic is one of the very few shows I've been this invested in and liked this much.
Okay this is pretty entertaining...yeah this does have some serious plot holes, but I still like it..._Chrysalis is really Princess Luna in disguise_...WAIT WHAT? How is that..._Holy Mother of Celestia_ (O.O)
no matter what you say this is still one of the best, but either way, it doesn't take away from your awesomeness, and i don't really get your questioning that love can shoot laser beams and help create magical force fields, but when the mane 6 used friendship to shoot rainbow dna shaped lasers out of their necklaces in episode 1, we all just accepted that's how it works.

I am intrigued by your videos and I would like you're take on the Zebra pony Zecora. I am a fan of her and would like to see more especially of ponies of her kind. we have already seen other different types of ponies (besides the obvious) the Ponies of Saddle Arabia are almost Celestia's height and yet we only saw the ministers in 'Magic Duel'. Are there other, extremely different types of ponies? (an enjoyed theory are zebra pegasi with dragonfly wings) just throwing this out.

And the interaction between the two avatars brought a smile to my face. ^_^ One thing I'm curious about is why Twilight was able to break Cadance out when the princess wasn't able to by herself. I mean, Cadance has magic too. Also, doesn't Luna live in the castle after her return? The clip shows her flying in from outside the barrier. I can't imagine that she would ask for the shield to be raised just so she could stretch her wings. The "Luna was behind it all" theory is interesting. ^_^
When you talk about celestia running on durecells, it would make sense that sometimes her mane and tail don't flow like they normally do. Also, what would happen if Chrisalis has a hole in her horn where something could get caught in it, such as Celestias horn?

Well, if we can claim such things then maybe Celestia was a changeling too, with no other reason but to troll Antony when it pretended to be defeated. There is nothing to suggest in the show that anything that in-depth was on-going.

Wanna know something else? The color of Cadence's magical aura. Chrysalis' aura is green, whereas Cadence's is teal. Celestia, being the omnipotent alicorn of the sun, master of the magical arts, and AUNT of Cadence, would notice such an obvious change, given the fact that magical signatures are unique to the person/pony, at least according to Harry Potter and other stories featuring magic.
Also, how the heck does Shing Armor and Cadence's love not get eaten by the thousands of changelings?

I know its been 2 years but I only just came up with this theory--
When Cadence said to Shining Armor that her love would give him strength, Chrysalis laughed at that because she knew that Cadence wasn't a changeling. From what we know, only changelings gain power from love, ponies get power from other sources. Chrysalis probably never realised that Cadence is a princess of love, so she would cast the mare away and think nothing of it. This is why she was surprised when Cadence and Shining Armor defeated her and her army, she never realised that love also gives ponies strength if used correctly. Love is a type of Harmony, but on a higher scale than friendship. And thus, has much more power when under the right control.

Recently, Firebrand (AKA The Fiery Joker) did a video on FOBEquestria about taking A Canterlot Wedding too seriously, and he brought to the table a ton of things that I had actually never thought about before. It really challenged my whole outlook on Queen Chrysalis' plan and whether it was Ingenious as Albert Einstein at the science fair, or as filled with holes as her own legs of mouldy swiss cheese.
In any case, I found it really interesting, and going back and watching this episode of Reviewing is Magic AFTER seeing Firebrand's video, just drove me nuts XP As the whole time I was waiting for one of you two to bring up at least one of the points he mentioned in his video, which of course, neither of you did =P
Whether it fixes all of the problems you have with Chrysalis or not, or whether it just makes those problems worse, is rather up to the viewer. But you may enjoy looking over it a little bit, you might find something intriguing.

I really wonder if anyone has yet. It honestly makes a bunch of sense, or feels like it would be. Like imagine that NMM decided to test the capabilities of Celestia and the others without giving away her not-being-still-corrupted bit. An invasion of fake illusionary creatures would be a very good opportunity and test to do so with.
I mean... maybe it was Luna who tipped the city off about the invasion, if she wanted to test the Capital city's defenses the most, she would absolutely tell them an army is coming when it really is. I'm sure that Celestia can't see EVERYTHING so Luna would likely be able to teleport in and out of the shield, being an Alicorn who has had 1000 years to potentially perfect and hone her skills in an almost 0-G environment.
Ofcourse then maybe she could have released Sombra after all this and told him to attack the Crystal City again, in hopes of figuring out how the Elements of Harmony could work.
Her possible plan of figuring out how they work would still be a possibility, due to their godpowers of harmony being bestowed upon them. The 6 would still be a literal nightmarish foe for her to beat on her own.
Ofcourse if that theory ever proves true, it'd be cool, but it probly won't happen. IF it did, I imagine it'd be the finale to end this series.
Also would make sense how Luna ALWAYS looks at Twilight with either disappointment or disgust, either way, it's rather mean, even for someone who "Set her free from being Nightmare Moon" you'd think Luna would be a bit more grateful eh? I'm thinking that the Elements would not have destroyed Nightmare moon, since so far, it doesn't totally destroy evil as far as we've been shown. There's always a piece of the villain that survive if not their whole body.
Like... Discord is the embodiment of chaos, which is the literal opposite of Chaos. Evil or good, the Elements technically should've melted Discord if it had the power to turn him into stone two times if it had the powers it seems to portray.
I think the Elements just change the state of a thing, not like from alive to dead, but from active to dormant, from powerful, to weak, from physical, to corporeal.
Luna is going to get her own episode in the next season apparently... Maybe it might set that up?

For as you know Cadence is a princess and not just anyone can marry a princess.
So Celesstia used the changeling invasion to test how strong there love truly was as shown by the massive energy wave shield thing.
As for where Luna was.... was there ever mentioned an account of casualties or injured during the changeling attack. No because while Celestia kept up appearances as a "helpless captive" Luna was watching over the subjects making sure No pony Got hurt in the invasion.

Ok, the ending, my jaw DROPPED! Luna, Nightmare Moon, Chrysalis, it makes so much sense! To much sense, honestly. But it was as if all the pieces fell together. Luna, never turned good after all. She was playing everyone for the fool! It was truly mind blowing. Even if it isn't true. Or is it... Bare with me now. Remember that one episode where Luna created the evil nightmare thing, to punish herself? And the Mane Six had to go into dream land to kill it? What if THAT, the monster of nightmares, was the true darkness. The plotter, the planner. The devil behind the scenes. Luna didn't "create" it, it was a part of her all along. The monster is the demon she keeps locked inside. That is the planner part of her. The real Luna, is the nice one. The kind and wise leader. But the dark one is the part of her that takes over. Its a possessor demon. Their are three kinds of possessor demons, benevolent, malevolent, and rivalrous. The benevolent aids its host, granting them enhanced powers, in order to keep its host, and thus itself, alive. The second kind, is the malevolent. The malevolent possessor takes control of the body it inhabits, manipulating its host, or just taking control to bring about an ends to its own means. The third, rivalrous demons, are constantly in combat with its host. Each are constantly doing battle for control. Like two sides of the coin, good and evil. Yin and Yang. The monster that is a part of Luna is a rivalrous. It took control of Luna by feeding off her sorrow and insecurity, turning her into nightmare moon. After she was banished, the demon festered, testing its own power, and manipulating Luna. When finally the mane 6 hit Luna with the rainbow friendship harmony beams, the demon steps back, allowing Luna to take control, letting Luna, and the rest of the world, believe she has been reformed. However, in the moments where she would mysteriously disappear, the demon takes control, leaving her with no memory of the events. It is during these blackouts, the demon does just as you stated, took control of the changelings. It was it who was testing itself, establishing the limits of its own power. Luna doesn't know about her inner demon. She thinks that the inner demon is honestly something she created for the sole purpose of her own punishment. Her inner demon may become a villain in the future. However, that is just my theory.

I'm not sure that Crysalis defeating Celestia is proof that Celestia isn't God. She may have had a good reason to "allow" herself to be defeated.

Well, my emergency Luna headcannon to fall back upon once my official Luna headcannon doesn't add up anymore just took a pretty drastic turn...

Am I the only one who thinks that Changeling Invasion was not an actual invasion, but a farce. Just taking over Equestria and draining all the love would be wasteful and won't sustain hive for long.
So Chrysalis launches this farce of invasion to achieve several goals:
1) Gather a ton of energy from ponies who protect their loved ones (either from changelings who already infiltreted Equestria or through forced draining)
2) Replace some ponies (colt\marefriends, children or parents, whatever) with more changelings to ensure constant flow of love to hive.
3) Force Cadence (Alicorn of Love) to blast them with hers and Shining Armor' Dual Limit Break. As I see it, it was an analog to Jesus feeding few thousand people with few loafs of bread and some fish.
So, that way, Chrysalis gets a few metric tons of love AND establishes more stable source of food for her subjects.
Also. few moments in this two-parter made me think that Celestia herself gave a green light, so to speak, to this plan. She just stads there, while Queen chew out the scenery, later threw a fight after one energy blast (considering magic battles in MLP follows same basic rules as Dragon Ball Z), Royal Guard bassicaly disappear from Canterlot, when shield goes down (except those two shmuck, who probably just went on coffee break). Don't forget Luna appearing after everything ends.
So, replace "replacing Ponies" part with bunch of new lovable neighbors and lots of cute orphans left after invasion and Sun Princess gets a new powerful ally and covert op task force, two young alicorns (both future and current) gets some much needed life expirience and Chrysalis still gets her orchard to feed the hive.
Everyone is happy in end.

Seriously, apart from the not-setting-up Cadence and Shining Armor, and the moral obviously, the main problem about this episode is that Chrysalis is stupid. But why shouldn't she be? It isn't said that every evil ruler has to be clever or good at planning. The changelings appear to be an insect-like species. Those usually have a queen that is born into that position, even if she is an idiot. So overall that isn't bad writing, it is just that Chrysalis is literally stupid.

Yeah, it's more or less cliche character design honestly. I mean... there's about an much reason why she couldn't be smart, her whole plan just doesn't make much sense ofcourse because there's like... little to no room for deviation, which if you invade and plan to enslave an entire kingdom as big as Equestria, then you'd defiinitely need to plan for SOME kind of deviation.
Plus the whole thing would have been more of a misunderstanding and Celestia and the others could have Bargained with the Queen, but instead they do the predictable thing and blast her away.
My only huge problem with the Canterlot Wedding, is that Chrysalis is "dealt with" just by ejecting her forcefully, when if anything, it could've been handled with, maybe some diplomacy. I mean this IS a show which boasts "Friendship is magic" yet, they never really got to what would be one of the penultimate friendship lessons, like... "Just because they look almost entirely different and are almost a whole other species if they actually arent, doesn't mean you should discriminate them" or something.
It's more of a badly missed opportunity than a problem.
And yeah... Celestia being owned was rather annoying too, since every possible episode they appear in, they build her up like an all-knowing deity, pulling some wierd and highly toned-down bible-style tests on the 6. Then with one episode, she gets wrecked.
Was kinda seeing that happening ofcourse, since if Celetsia got Chrysalis beaten in that laser beam clash bit, instead of herself, then the changelings could have potentially been bargained with, but yeah.
Either that, or the second part would've been more celebrations and junk because then Celestia herself probly could've broken the spell on Shining, juiced him with her solar beams, and ejected every one of the things way earlier.

MiXterioVlog In my opinion, the problem isn't that Chrysalis is an idiot, it's that she's PRESENTED as being competent and effective when she's not. The only reason her plan did as well as it did was because every heroic character was holding the Idiot Ball. If she was acknowledged as incompetent in-universe, that would be one thing, but she's treated as a legitimate threat when she's anything but.

Well, compare this awkward meeting with their previous awkward meeting in Luna Eclipsed. Even then Luna was clearly more friendly there. They have two distinctively different personalities. In the very least, Luna recognizes how to fake love. While Crystalis clearly does not.
You make a grievous error in attempting to use Christian mythology to analyze the show. Its rules are fundamentally diffrent as FiM is clearly based on Greek and Roman mythology. It's visible int he art design, the monsters, the mystic relics, the fact that the religion is a pantheon, in the fact that Equestria is clearly divided into city states, even a good portion of the ponies culture. You call Celestia "God" and say she is an allegory for Yahway, when she simply isn't. If she was she would have been stated to be the creator of the universe. She is not. Celestia, Luna, and presumably all other Alicorns are in fact Greek style gods.
The Greek and Roman gods were in fact killable, could be injured, fooled, and had flaws. They were people, just incredibly powerful ones who lived forever and could do things which were impossible for mortals. They were life forms an order of magnitude above we specks but they were still people and still lifeforms. It stands to reason that Celestia follows the same logic. She can be killed, just not by any normal mortal, barring some mystical artifact of course. Furthermore if she was supposed to be Yahway, Celestia would be a far different person. FiM's writers enjoy portraying mythology correctly and as someone who has read the entire Bible cover to cover multiple times as a worshiper and as a scholar, Yahway is a cruel, spiteful, child and unless you conform to his seemingly arbitrary rules he will send you to be tortured in a place he created specifically to torment those who defy him. The only way out of this is to kiss up and follow his rules which he will never explain the reasons behind.
This is the exact opsite of Celestia, a paragon of mercy. Celestia would not kill Discord despite the heinous crimes against ponykind he preformed. Celestia did not kill her sister when she was possessed by a demonic creature (Seriously read the comics before judging Luna. That was not her, that was an entity controlling her like a meat puppet.) Celestia did not kill King Sombra. Instead she banished or otherwise removed them from scociety but allowed them all chances to try and turn away and come to the light. All Celestia dose is selflessly spread kidness, mercy, and justice through her kingdom. She dose not rule reality, and there are lands byond hers which she has no controll over nor dose she desire to controll. Her character is a diety, but it is no the OP, vindictive, agessive, crule, and unfair christian god. It is a Greek style impossibly powerful person.

We see here that Jesus casts Satan into the bottomless pit for a thousand years, just like Nightmare Moon was cast out to the moon for a thousand years . Afterwards Satan is released, which is mirroring Nightmare Moon :
Revelation 20:3 ... After that, he must be set free for a short time.
Satan just like Nightmare Moon was released after the thousand years were over. This story has been repeated in Hollywood many times; when it appeared in this cartoon it didn't surprise me at all, this is a critical story that I've gotten the opportunity to see used in movies and shows time after time. What follow happening to Satan also actually mirrors the battle for Canterlot pretty well. The changelings attack Canterlot and then they are purged by, well, Shining Armor and Cadence's love / and the magical forcefield spell... This is mirrored in these verses where it talks about the "city he loves" and "fire came down".

Because I red it as a scholar in general, not a biblical scholar. I study most religions, jsut as I also study the sciences, physiology, and art. Hey there, Antony and BronyCurious! I've watched this episode over and over. It's one of my favorites. ObabScribbler did a story reading of an MLP story on her channel. It's called "The Devil's Trick", and was inspired by this video, particularly that bit at the end. I knew exactly what it was referring to because I'd seen this video before. It was pretty cool. I don't make up many theories about the show, but I sure love hearing other fan's theories! Friendship is Magic is one of the very few shows I've been this invested in and liked this much.

no matter what you say this is still one of the best, but either way, it doesn't take away from your awesomeness, and i don't really get your questioning that love can shoot laser beams and help create magical force fields, but when the mane 6 used friendship to shoot rainbow dna shaped lasers out of their necklaces in episode 1, we all just accepted that's how it works.

I am intrigued by your videos and I would like you're take on the Zebra pony Zecora. I am a fan of her and would like to see more especially of ponies of her kind. we have already seen other different types of ponies (besides the obvious) the Ponies of Saddle Arabia are almost Celestia's height and yet we only saw the ministers in 'Magic Duel'. Are there other, extremely different types of ponies? (an enjoyed theory are zebra pegasi with dragonfly wings) just throwing this out.

One thing I'm curious about is why Twilight was able to break Cadance out when the princess wasn't able to by herself. I mean, Cadance has magic too.
Also, doesn't Luna live in the castle after her return? The clip shows her flying in from outside the barrier. I can't imagine that she would ask for the shield to be raised just so she could stretch her wings.

When you talk about celestia running on durecells, it would make sense that sometimes her mane and tail don't flow like they normally do. Also, what would happen if Chrisalis has a hole in her horn where something could get caught in it, such as Celestias horn?
Is it just me or does he sound like mr. Crocker from fairly odd parents when he does that creepyish voice?
I want to believe that Luna is good (BEST PRINCESS), but it would also be really cool if she were dramatically revealed to be Chrysallis!!
