This makes me immeasurably sad. The way of the world… particularly marriage, I guess. In truth, I don’t have to guess. Beautiful rendition, none the less.
Seeing this three years later due to a recommendation in the comments section of a Rick Beato video that came out today about this song. What a great version. I am sitting here with tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat. 😢❤
I've come back and watched this video between 20 and 30 times and once again I find myself in tears. To be so fortunate that you find something that you could be so passionate about that you could attain a level of aptitude that rivals that of your heroes. Then to to be so fortunate that you find someone else who has done the same. Then to be so fortunate that you can fall in love with this person AND they love you back. To be able to share your passions with one another and they intertwine in such a way that is nothing short of sublimely magnificent. It is something that to me could never be anything more than a dream but for a moment while listening to this I am transported to a place where passion, creativity, and love reign supreme and in that moment I am free. You are both very lucky to have one another and it gives me joy to see that you are both aware of it.
I know this is a late response to an older video but I couldn't say it better myself. I lover Tom and Sarah and when they sing/play together it is magical. Same with the More Fool Me clip.
@@thebendet24 It is sad but I think it speaks perfectly to the meaning of the song. You look down upon this ideal version of a life and in reflection a tear falls to disturb it. With it the picturesque view of what you thought your life would always be is carried away on the ripples of time to shores you may never again see.
I love the joy on your face Tom when your wife belts out sail away because you know it’s just there where it should be powerful full of emotion and energy 😊 I have only just come across you on UA-cam here in the Uk but it’s already my favourite thing to watch !
This just made my day, I had no idea you were also a genesis fan! This song is so difficult to learn and play I can’t believe you spent so much time but I appreciate it! I will send a link to Steve, he will get a kick out of it!
This song is so beautifully done here, and brings me back to when I was 14 again, spinning this and other great Genesis vinyls. If I may humbly ask for a request, Afterglow is another great one. Cheers uncle Larry, and Sarah. You both make the world a better place. ❤
Checking back through some of Uncle Larry's earlier corona lessons and it's inevitable that I settle (yet again) on lesson 9. This is arguably my favourite album and, with a 'just' a guitar and voice in a garage for goodness sake, Tom and Sarah's version of Ripples, for me at least, sits shoulder by shoulder with the original. Spine tingled - again!
Breathtaking! When you can hit emotional highs like these two do with just an acoustic guitar and an un-miked vocal into an iPhone (in a garage, no less!) you are in a VERY small group of artists, and very near the top of the talent/soul/skills pyramid
I really wish Sarah would do a whole album like this. This is the kind of music I can get into. It's real and raw. No production filtering. No Pro Tools. No studio effects. Just like you're sitting in the living room at a small get together. My family does this kind of stuff when we get together, and we have some serious musical and vocal talent in our family. Love it!
Around 4:00 in the video as Sarah is singing and the song is so up-lifting Tom seems to almost join her in singing, it is a cool and subtle musical moment that makes this video worth seeing over and over.
Just found this gem So beautiful Wow I’ve listened to this 5 times already and have shared it with others. Thank you both Phil Collins is loved by many
Wow you guys nailed it. I'm thinking of making a large fire with my guitars after watching how effortless you made this look. And wifies voice is absolutely perfect for that song. Bravo
Every time Sarah goes into that higher register for the chorus, it gives me goosebumps... so beautiful. PS- My favorite moment in this vid is at the beginning of the second chorus when Sarah starts singing and you kind of glance at her and smile. :-) PSS- Is it really going to take me 40 years to develop good timing? :-/ ✌🏼❤️🎸🤘🏼
had to go back to this - sooooo good - man Sarah is just beasting it at the end - & why aren't any of those chords on my guitar?? Masterclass from two GIANTS!!!
Very nice! I was fortunate to see The Lamb, Wind, Three and Duke tours. Trick of the Tail tour didn't make it to my city. Wind and Wuthering tour did, but they didn't play this song. But on the And then There Were Three tour they did do this song. Phil slightly changed the chorus melody with a subtle emotional addition. You're right about chords in todays music. All the members of Genesis knew the beauty of chords. And compound chords! Like when Steve, Mike and Tony would play 3 guitars. Beautiful! Your vocal of course was lovely, but man that guitar work was very impressive.
I had worn through trick of the tail back in Junior high....that’s awesome. Squonk is also one of my favorites from that album...love the covid volumes
About to drive home after bringing my beautiful son back home to his mother. A great day behind me, a sad feeling inside now (it gets easier, a bit). This performance brings me comfort and the necessary tears. Thank you, you're both awesome. Greetings from the Netherlands.
I’m so happy I found this, great guitar and lovely vocals ....Alan from Wales Europe, across the sea from Ireland, not to far from Scotland, a little bit further from France..........next door to england?
Bro' I saw you on someone else's UA-cam channel and yours popped up on my phone today.... After watching several of your posts including 2 with your wife, I'm COMPLETELY fuckin blown away.... After 68 years on this planet listening to blues, rock, and everything in between, I'm not easily surprised by musicians... HOWEVER, you and your wife have totally done that! I'm now binge watching EVERY post you have made on UA-cam!!!! Thank you sir for being you and sharing it with us...
Absolutely amazing. Takes me back to '76 when I saw Genesis play it on the Old Grey Whistle Test. I just said "WOW". This made me say "WOW" again. Thank you both.
Came here from a Genesis fan group on Facebook. This is a really lovely rendition and one of my fave Genesis tunes. I was a very happy camper when they included it in their 2007 set list. :)
Quite the Pair. Beautiful. Having never heard Sarah before, I focused on her voice, right away. Sarah, I think you sing from a place where you simply let go. Relaxed tones, constant pitch…heavenly. Tom, I think your dynamic style drove the bus, and gave Sarah the foundation that gave her this courageous approach. Thank you, Both. JJZ…(°¿.°`)
Wow..I came here to hear what you meant when you said "My favorite singer is my wife".....WOW..you are RIGHT. Damn, what a voice. Tell her, she has ANOTHER fan.
Tom , one of my top 3 Genesis songs is Afterglow . I would LOVE to play that song with a great band in a huge great sounding venue or stadium . I love when the harmony on the 2nd verse comes in , I always get goosebumps or tear up . For some reason I tear up when a song moves me . It's probably cause I'm 39 and never got the chance to play in a legit band . It's like my heart is crying out for it . Plus I was too pussy to move to Nashville . I live through people like you . You have a nice house , beautiful wife and kids and you play music for a living . Cherish it everyday brother . I'll prolly die a lonely man in this small Ohio town . I hate myself for not trying harder .
J-man 80 Dude, I don’t know why but your post bothered me. Just freaking play more buddy! I know you can. I’m 63 and loneliness just sucks, but just take your guitar out somewhere public and play for people. Somebody will dig it and offer encouragement. Don’t waste time. It’s too damn precious. Ohio used to be brimming with music. Last time I was in Dayton, I could hardly find an open mic or jam session.
Isn't it just glorious when something as simple as a couple siting down and singing a song can move you to tears? (Not to suggest that what you did was by any means simple!) Tom, your face as you listen to your wife's beautiful voice just nails it. It always warms my heart to see other people enjoying Genesis music like I do. Thank you so much for sharing.
Sir, you and your lovely wife put a big smile on all Genesis fans out there ;) Superb interpretation, and killer guitar part. Love the short lessons, learning a lot from those !
Just WOW!!!! I forgot how much II love this song. Just discovered your channel today through a mention by Rhett Shull, and love it. But this one . . . MAN!
This really is a gem of a UA-cam vid. The combination of Sarah's vox and Tom's guitar on this great tune is so good.
Same. 😂
Me too
I get a lump in my throat listening to any Genesis song. Never heard it sung by a lady before - great twist on the original. Love you both
This is perhaps the best most soulful and simply musical version of Ripples I have heard. Hats off to Tom Bukovac and Sarah Buxton.
Aunt Sarah made like a Ripple and she ain't never coming back. They was good Ripples while they lasted.
I've come back and watched this video between 20 and 30 times and once again I find myself in tears. @@pergolafish Totally agree, seeing them play together is magical
Nice comment.
Didn’t age well

Corona Lesson #9 is pure delight. Love those chords.
I need to put a reminder on my phone to come back and rewatch this every 6 weeks or so.
Thank you for bringing this one back to new life!
Wow, pretty cool Tommo. That lady has a beautiful voice….
thank you both
How does this not have 10M views?!
CANT HELP BUT TO LISTEN TO THIS WHEN I SEE IT IN MY FEED......HAS TO BE THE 10TH TIME....GREAT!
three years later, and this one still gives me goosebumps
I love the joy on your face Tom when your wife belts out sail away because you know it’s just there where it should be powerful full of emotion and energy 😊
I have only just come across you on UA-cam here in the Uk but it’s already my favourite thing to watch !
Never take this video down. It’s really wonderful.
You know what else is missing besides chords? The human voice without a ton of effects and pitch correction. Very nice you two.
How does this only have 116K views? I think I've watched it 100K myself.
Wonderful version of this magical song. The chords are just amazing and full of beauty. Sarah's vocal was top notch.
Great version of a classic...from a genesis fan of over 40 years 👏👏👏👏
After four years, still a hit for me!
This just made my day, I had no idea you were also a genesis fan! This song is so difficult to learn and play I can’t believe you spent so much time but I appreciate it! I will send a link to Steve, he will get a kick out of it!
Tom ... your "Corona Lesson" are the best thing to come out of this pandemic, in my humble opinion ... great song song choice by the way.
This song is so beautifully done here, and brings me back to when I was 14 again, spinning this and other great Genesis vinyls. If I may humbly ask for a request, Afterglow is another great one. Cheers uncle Larry, and Sarah. You both make the world a better place. ❤
Beautiful Cover! 👏👏👏 Her Vocal and you on the Guitar Amazing and Beautiful! ❤
Cant believe i just seeing this.. all the tunes on Trick of the Tail are killer
Two super talented people at the top of their game. I can stop watching. Awesome job to you both
That was unreal, pure talent doesn,t need studio mics or stuff. All easy on the eyes too.

Imagine living next door to these two! All I hear from my neighbours garage is a chop saw and sander.
I’d rather hear that, and I’m a guitar player. It means you have a carpenter or woodworker right next door. Thats a score
lawnmower here.
Wow wow. Beautiful. Music is alive…
Wow… I watch it every time it pops back up on my list… what a great post! Thanks you guys! 👍
Sure love going back to see you two. Great together.

With the way things are in the world today this is what we need. So glad I found Tom Bukavac!
OMG! How did little Tommy from Cleveland ever convince a sooo talented and smokin’ hot Sarah to marry you😎 what an incredible duo!!!
Seriously. This should be on vinyl so we can keep it forevermore…. Nothing else to say simply superb … thank you both….
BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!!
I really wish Sarah would do a whole album like this. This is the kind of music I can get into. It's real and raw. No production filtering. No Pro Tools. No studio effects.

Have you listened to Shawn Colvins first 3 or 4 albums?
@@davedavid7061 No, but I'll check em out.
Around 4:00 in the video as Sarah is singing and the song is so up-lifting Tom seems to almost join her in singing, it is a cool and subtle musical moment that makes this video worth seeing over and over.
He's done with the complicated part and he's just strumming and appreciating her singing. It's a nice moment
Just found this gem
So beautiful
Wow
I’ve listened to this 5 times already and have shared it with others.
Thank you both
Phil Collins is loved by many
In some countries it’s illegal to have so much talent in one family. Beautiful!
" Thank Tom and Singer for This Special Version .. Great Song and Great Band ". .. So' Good ... ☺😊😀/🎼🎶💙🎸💙🎵/👍✌👌👏👋
Holy crap.
Tom’s face when they go into the second chorus, like “Yeah. Yeah, this is pretty frickin good” 😂👍🏻
Speechless. Beyond beautiful. This song is such a gift during these times of uncertainty. Bless you both.
Wow you guys nailed it. I'm thinking of making a large fire with my guitars after watching how effortless you made this look. And wifies voice is absolutely perfect for that song. Bravo

The LOVE come through completely......both for Phil / Genesis AND for each other. Keep up broadcasting love!
What a voice your wife has, beautiful song :)
I could listen to this all day.
I fancy myself the biggest 1970's Genesis fan in the world. Your wife killed it.
I've listened to that song a hundred times, but seeing it played on a single guitar and a solo voice is very cool.😀
I shared this to my good friend Marc Laflamme who’s been the drummer in The Musical Box tribute Band. Amazing interpretation.... wow
had to go back to this - sooooo good - man Sarah is just beasting it at the end - & why aren't any of those chords on my guitar?? Masterclass from two GIANTS!!!
Very nice of you to share with Us. Thank You both.
I was singing along with this one - Yep Sarah sings beautifully
That voice! Amazing. Love the complexity and easiness of the arrangement. Beautiful. Thank you!
Absolutely intoxicating
Such a great song........THANKS!
That was f'n awesome on all fronts. Please do another, maybe More Fool Me or Here Comes the Flood
Sublime… thank you
I remember that song, that album. Haven't heard it in 40 years. Well done.
keep coming back here to hear Ripples again, what a great duo.
Love the t-shirt! Just was in 30th Street week after Christmas! Talked to Matt B a bit. So many pedals!

Lovely. So nice to just turn to the love of your life and sing, sing, sing while you play away on some old guitar.
Unreal!
Probably my favorite Genesis song. I appreciate it more with age.
I can't stop watching this one. Brings the BP right down. Thanks for this one Tom and Sarah.
I love Genesis, however this version with Sarah singing, gives me chills...she has an amazing voice... unbelievable...
Somewhere out there in toyland, a reality show sobbed sad monotones into it's figurative pillow...You guys are amazing.
Excellent version of one of the most beautiful songs in all of rock. Good to see prog getting some love in Nashville!
Man, so absolutely beautiful. Thank you!
Truly elegant. The both of you.
This brought tears to my eyes. It's been a long time. Too long. Thank you for this.

Just had to watch it again! too sweet!!!!
However did I miss this one..!! So good you guys!”
