The best way to try to interpret her music is based on how it feels. This song made me feel stuck or trapped without really understanding the lyrics. Later I learned it was about sleep paralysis, and basically she represents a dream demon in the video. Also, she’s on the radio A Lot, just turned 18, and has absolutely exploded on the music scene. Her music is the music that no one knew they wanted until they heard it and realized it’s everything.

Especially because so much of her sound revolves around feeling. Like in xanny the chorus is distorted and bass heavy because that’s what it feels like when you breathe in smoke. And the verses are light and airy, which is what smoke looks like. It’s so cool

She’s definitely an individual. She and her brother write all the music together and he’s an incredible producer. Bury a friend is from the POV of the monster under the bed according to Billie so - hence the spooky vibe.
She had radio success with “bad guy” and “when the party’s over”. Check out the video for “bad guy” and the Grammy performance of “when the party’s over” - trust me.

The one thing I have to say that got me fully into Billie’s music, is the fact that you can’t avoid really really FEELING something, every time you hear her music. You stop everything else and just listen. The lyrics and her fantastic voice are unavoidable, and you get immersed in a whole different way than any other music, sorta. I’ve never felt all this with another artist or music group, and it grabbed me instantly. Her music is crazy good!
"When the party is over" is a great song and video too, so emotional and deep.
She has all different kinds of music, not just extremely creepy stuff. I've been listening to all her music and I just discovered a song "Come Out and Play", because her and her brother played it live at the Steve Jobs theater a month ago. That version is a must watch and one of the most beautiful songs she's written, an new favorite for me. But there are tons of songs that they write that are just amazing beautiful original hits. Seriously, the more you hear her , the more you'll fall in love.

What I find incredible is that Billie and her brother wrote and recorded the whole album together in the brother's very tiny bedroom, writing the song titles on the wall with a sharpie on the wall as they went along. You don't get more raw than that.

Eilish was all over the radio for months when Bad Guy got big. When the Party's Over was also played A LOT. Highly recommend When the Party's Over and All the Good Girls Go to Hell for review. My personal favorite is Bellyache tho.

Sorry to write 3 comments in a row lol. But she is already very much on the radio! Her most popular songs such as Bury A Friend, Bad Guy, Idontwannabeyouanymore, See Me In A Crown, etc. Have been played on the radio multiple multiple times. I always get excited when it comes on. Though naturally I wish they would play more of a variety of her music. I think the other songs would be more popular if only they were played a bit more. People seem to only know the same 3-5 songs of hers while I'm sitting here in love with so many of them that people only hear if they really take the time to look her up and dig a little.

Listen, come here. His reasonably calm voice, offering reassurance plays such a small part in comparison to the beat down your brain gives yourself when you deal with these types of struggles.

Oh. My. God. YESSSS!!!!! Every reaction video or anything about this song, noooooo One everrrrr mentions "people are strange" by the doors!! I'm like for real? Nobody??! I noticed in the first 20 seconds when it first came on the radio lol! I love her spin on it though, still recognizable enough to be a hard nod to the doors but different enough that it's not like, ok theif lol. Anyway, I'm going back to the video now lol, had to pause and be like thank God finally someone said it haha
She has said this song is from the viewpoint of the monster under her bed, which she portrays in this video. The sleep paralysis she suffers from leads to nightmarish experiences, and this song was a representation of that. Wanting to end me, is how she feels about wanting it to stop. The syringes represent the doctors trying to cure her, though in her video "Good Girls go to Hell" they use the syringe scene preceding her growth of angel's wings. So maybe they kill her and she becomes an angel that has fallen to hell. You'll have to check that video out and decide that yourself though. It's supposed to be about global warming and the polluting of the earth.

Yall should watch the behind the scenes explanation videos of this. Its very interesting to see where the inspiration comes from. One of the sounds in this song for instance are from the sound of a drill she recorded at the dentist.
Her visuals for this video were mostly inspired by The Bobadook and a little from American Horror Story.

Loveee the Type O Negative hoodie. They’re my all time favorite band, but I’m actually a fan of Billie Eilish too. Fun fact: She wore a shirt in one of her shows with numerous band picture cut outs on it and one of them was Type O Negetive. That’s when I decided to look into her music more.

The video is all about sleep paralysis and nightmares. If you look her merch up most of the clothing has monsters, she’s said multiple times that’s what she sees on her dreams.

Its interesting because ultimately, listeners dont know what songs are "in character" and which come from personal experience. Her music allows for different interpretations. its awesome

Finneas isn't in any of her other videos, he doesn’t even go to set with her. He said he wants her music and her music videos to be her own creative ideas and genius even though they write together. He says it's still her songs even if he helps write because they're her story to tell and it doesn't feel right for him to sing them. He writes music for her as well as himself (he has his own EP and its great) and other artists too. He's worked with Selena Gomez and Camila Cabello on their recent music. He also won 5 grammies for his production work. Someone blessed them with so much talent in their family truly and now we get to be blessed with their existence and talent as well.

Abt Billie... I'm 36yo mom of 3 and I listen to her music, its different, it hits my teen struggles but also as mom I would rather have my kids listen to her than some mumble abusive music..
I dont know mich abt her illnesses I saw in comments but I saw some interview with her brother that they actually still make all their music in his bedroom and take sounds from their every day life which is quite awesome in my opinion. Good day

I’ve been sick a long time. I’ve seen fear of my lose in others eyes for 20 years and come to peace with death as an old friend to be greeted. I have PTSD from hospitals and drs. So my soul breaks for the survivors leaving intensive care with RDS delirium and the Doctors and nurses I know this will scar beyond words.

When Finneas n Billie decided to make music together, he had Billie sing Ocean Eyes w her style n voice. Also, at this time, her dance teacher had requested a song to choreograph from them n Ocean Eyes is what they downloaded to Soundcloud.

Plus different is also good and seeing her interview will tell you she is so down to earth and her life is not well sugar coated
