- Finally after almost a year of waiting, the Monte Carlo is back in action with her new 350 V8 pushing 355 horsepower and 370 lb-ft of torque. Engine has a cam with .480 lift (280 duration). Enjoy!
Nice!! You still have it?
Nice ride. Great job on the install. I hope you are still enjoying her!
I LOVE leaving the 4.3 badge on. I did the same.
Did u ever change out ur gears I’m debating on gears for my 350 vortec 84 cutlass I was going 373 posi on my 7.5 10bolt but hearing what u just said about maybe going lower to 3.23 I’m just using it for street I’m not usually passing 60mph ever
Now it's time to make it look aggressive with a cowl hood an nice wheels an paint job .....I own a 86 SS
Its beautiful to me !
She's angry!
Do you smog?
Get referee?
What exterior color is it?
Did u get a rear assembly from bone yard or did u buy a posi unit install in ur existing houseing only asking I have to do the same with my 84 thanks
I bought the posi unit from summit racing brand new (about $350 if i remember correctly). It fit directly into my original rear end housing.
Sweet ride my guy, Ill be getting an 81 with the 3800 next month, planning on putting the same size engine in it as yours. Love your ride though, and nice headers
Nice Monte ! Bro

Post more videos of ur monte carlo
Very nice car!
I plan on swapping a 350 vortec in mines
Ah sweet good job u did the right thing it's clean too sounds great did u get ur posi? I like the cl interior better than my SS sweet Monte I park mine in winter too
84montecarlonazi Yes she has positraction now and i couldnt be any happier with it no more one tire fires lol
Uuuugh, my family inherited my grandma's 83 Monte that looked very much like this when I was about 16, and it was supposed to be for me and my brother to drive. But I was a lazy putz and didn't take advantage. It became my brother's car by default. Looking back I really regret not jumping at the opportunity. For teenaged me in the mid nineties it was definitely a "grandma" car, but now at 41 looking back at automotive design history it was actually pretty cool.
She a beaut
how did it fit, did you get a new cross engine mount??
I have a 84 been curious as to best rim wheel size to run. Front is rubbing slightly on mine any thoughts or what size do u have on this?
I have 15x7 rally wheels all around. Size is 215/70/R15. They barely clear the front, but the rears could be wider.
@@thethirdpedal thanks I had to take ralleys off my brothers 71 Monte I think they are 235/15 in the front. Im actually going to go out and look right now,yep and 245/16 in back witch are not a issue and clear fine. Would love to swap my 231 for a 350 or stroker 383? Not sure
@@georgeevankovich3489 either engine you choose would be great. If you are looking more for power I'd go with the 383 build but a 350 is more affordable and you can still make great power. One thing to look out for is you may have to change your mounts. I had to change mine to 305 mounts from a firebird for everything to line up
I got a 82 Monte that also haf a 4.3 v6 somebody swapped a 350 sbc and th350 trans im currently trying to redo the wiring cus its a mess! Do you have any videos on the wiring for your swap
Unfortunately I do not. I took out the ECU and harness for the fuel injection system. I only had to rewire the fuel pump as it is still the electric fuel pump which fuel injected models came with from the factory. My swap consisted mostly of removing electronics for a more old school mechanical set up. Besides that wiring is the same as it was before i did the swap.
for sale ?
Can be
What kind of rim's are those?
15x7 GM rally wheels. Used in the 60s and 70s
What all you had to do to v8 swap yours. I wanna v8 swap mines
Fan shroud, engine mounts, and radiator. Not much has to be changed, and you can source parts off of V8 montes to fit. May have to drill holes for the v8 mounts but nothing crazy. I used 305 mounts from a f-body firebird. There may be a few other things that need changed but its nothing over the top.
What did it cost to swap?
I will make another video discussing the costs of it all. The engine itself cost $3800 and the trans was another couple thousand. There is definitely cheaper ways to go about the swap than mine, but a few things to consider if you are going v6 to v8 are engine mounts and if you have a 4.3 v6 (85-88) then you will have an electric fuel pump so if you switch to carburetor you will need to re-wire that curcuit since its run by the ecu. If you're planning to swap I'd figure out how much you'd think it cost then double that just so you have budget for any issues you didnt plan for.
Losing power through the fan, go electric fans
What year?
