- Today was a special treat! We are here at the famous Owls Head Museum, Midcoast Maine.
The owner of this beautiful 1965 Ford GT40 with a 289CI V8 decided to start it up and take a victory lap! This is the real thing, no replicas in this video; and what an absolute treat. This is the car Caroll Shelby and Ken Miles used to practice and develop; before shoehorning in the famous Le Mans winning 1966 427CI V8 GT40. Ford holds the longest win streak in Le Mans history! 66', 67', 68', 69'. If you do not know the history of this amazing work of art; look up the movie Ford vs. Ferrari. The movie takes you thru the history of Ford Racing Company at Le Mans.
Special Thanks to Mark for inviting me and to the Maine Owls Head Museum for holding this great event.
Vintage Motorcycle Show first week of September is wonderful as well.
Mr Ken new his stuff. Shelby and him great team.
At some point in time something went terribly wrong and they started to build the Fiesta.
What an absolutely wicked sound. Badass.
Some things so simple can bring so much joy.
Great video, such a cool car. Not something you see everyday.
The little 289 is a screamer. The best sounding v8 ever made.
LOOK AT THAT 68 SQUIRE WAGON!!! OMG also!
H-A-P-P-Y
Correction re the record wins at Le Mans.Audi and Toyota have won
Le Mans 5 years in succession. Ferrari actually did it 6 times 1960-65
and Bentley equalled the GT40 back in the 20s
Wow
Actually the 65 Daytona coupe would have won it as well but this was just a bit better.
Bloody hell an American car with the steering wheel on the correct side of the dash 😂
Ferrari hearing that noise! 😳😳😳😨😨😨😰😰😰
Why is the steering wheel on the other side?
These race cars were produced in Great Britain where right hand steering is the norm.
The ‘s’ is silent in Le Mans . . .
Massachusetts plate? I'm sure that car is illegal....everything is illegal in that POS state.
Actually you have to thank ferrari for this.
Only because Ferrari was so rude to Mr. Ford when Mr. Ferrari had it for sale. That made Mr. Ford decide to go Racing at the highest level! One of my favorite stories of all time even before the Ford vs Ferrari movie came out. My favorite racing colors was the year it was the Baby blue and Red Gulf Sponsored car! I've either owned one or built a replica in dozens of Racing video games. A hail the 66'-69' GT40's.
I'd like to post a historical video of the Ford GT90 concept! What a weapon
Shh. Be quiet and just put the phone behind the exhaust pipe. That's all we want to hear.
I let you hear the first 60 seconds before I said a word. 90% of people don't know the history. I was trying to spread information
@@timothyhibbard I thought the narration was fine btw, a lot of people would not know much about these so its good for those people.
Keep up the good work.
This other guy, followed me. Just to give me shit for talking... I waited at least 60 seconds and walked around the car to hear it run from different angles. He told me I'm an idiot for talking over the Ford running. So I blocked his comments. I have invasive Squamous Cell Carcinomas on my back; I just wish people would be positive or not comment at all. What's the point of being a jerk? Idk, but I hope he gets loads of bad Karma. Thanks for watching. Its just a 289; but its fully built
I didn't intend to be mean. I do apologize. Just trying to add some humor. They are beautiful cars and a wonderful sound. Small block or big block. Doesn't matter. In that...hope you have a good weekend. Sent from California
I have severe Squamous Cell Carcinomas on my back. Fighting cancer for the last 3 years has been brutal. I finally try to add content and get shut down. Another guy was way ruder. Thank you for the apology
Dont know but think this car had a 289 Don't know that 4 sure
They said it had the 289
I've never heard a 289 sound this mean.
