The secret third fight isn't really fair since we don't know anything about it, and originally they shot it for Rocky iv where neither one of them win. But overall Apollo was the more skilled boxer but Rocky was a better overall fighter, like in a street fight Rocky would definitely win

I found this Rocky franchise Best Pugilist pound for pound (Pun intended)of all time quite admirable and probably would've totally agreed with it 👀 But unfortunately I don't understand how you decide to either intentionally omit or pretend it doesn't matter, and that's the egregious misconduct orchestrated by #3 Ivan Drago... Did you honestly think the fact he was clearly using PED"s, STEROIDS to be more specific wouldn't or shouldn't play some factor in his ranking equation ⁉️We truly don't know how long he'd been using the JUICE from his introduction into the franchise so you'll have to presume it was throughout his entire career. Based on that fact alone I'm not sure how to rank him and moreover if he'd best anyone else on this list maybe except Tommy Morrison 🤕...💯FACTS😎

Good list but i think mason should have been higher because the only reason rocky did good is because mason didnt take if seriously and he didnt train or have any conditioning also at the end of rocky 6/rocky balboa it shows mason earning the respect of the boxing world and not seen as a paper champion

Yeah but producing 2,150 psi is definitely not impossible. It’s actually very possible for Rocky to achieve this number. If anything, Drago has the plot armor for not being kicked out of the competition despite usage of drugs and drug testing.

I agree that Apollo is overall the best boxer in the franchise because he has by far the most consistent career and maintained his peak level of skill for the longest time, whereas Rocky would often peak and valley and need to get back into shape. But at his peak, during the fight with Drago, Rocky was better than anyone ever was or ever will be. To use a more extreme example, Whitey Ford was the Yankees best pitcher in the 50s and 60s, but he never threw a no-hitter. Don Larsen was a mediocre pitcher at best who had the best day in pitching history, throwing a perfect game during the 1956 World Series. For 1 day Larsen was better than Ford could ever hope to be, though Ford is an infinitely pitcher in every conceivable way. The differences between Rocky and Apollo are nowhere near as great, but it illustrates the difference between temporary peak performance and career performance.

Because context is everything. It's never as simple as "A beat B." You need to ask "HOW did A win?" and "WHY did B lose?"
Apollo lost because he was 5 years out of practice, he severely underestimated Drago and overestimated himself equally severely. The point was that at his peak he would have most likely won since at that point he'd be able to evade Drago's punches.
