    That moment where Splitsie is saying "Um.. Sideways! Much sideways! Much-" and then just stops...
    And realizes what has happened...
    And realizes what is GOING to happen....
    And then rapidly goes to the parachutes......
    It reminds me of the first Wrong Way Down, when they jumped off that giant cliff,
    only to realize that the parachutes weren't deploying.
    It's the sort of moment you couldn't script if you wanted to, and it's one of the many reasons
    these sorts of series' are so much fun to watch.

    I had a thought... and I'm definitely not saying that this idea should be used for *this* truck... but a thought for a future occasion where someone wants to build a big articulated truck with a runway that planes can be landed on... which will be never. BUT ANYWAY.....
    Suppose, for a moment, that between each trailer were two horizontal pistons, horizontally aligned on either side of the articulation mechanism, such that when both pistons were extended it would force the trailers into alignment. You could even use merge blocks to literally lock the sections together, ensuring that they are all on the same plane.
    Suppose, in addition, each trailer had a fixed runway roof, with one small articulated "flap" at each end (much like each end of the runway has in this video).
    Then when you want to do flight operations you extend the pistons, forcing all the trailers into alignment, and articulate the flaps to create one long runway that spans the length of all the trailers.
    Of course, the downside is you need very flat ground, and you can no longer drive the truck around while the runway is deployed, since that would cause the runway sections to collide with each other. But on the upside, you get a super long runway with plenty of space for garages/lifts.

    • @Stoney3K
      @Stoney3K 3 роки тому

      "Suppose, for a moment, that between each trailer were two horizontal pistons, horizontally aligned on either side of the articulation mechanism, such that when both pistons were extended it would force the trailers into alignment."
      So, basically like railway carriage buffers? Would make sense, since the front car is already shaped like a big locomotive at this time.
      To make one long runway, I'd go for more of a semi trailer arrangement though - Tiny truck in the front, hitch on the truck bed, and a looooooong trailer being towed behind it.

    • @allmhuran
      @allmhuran 2 роки тому

    I think the main reason you didn't know when you were going to go is because you were looking at the declared p-gravity, it was probably only reporting the .49ish G you were feeling from the planet you were on, not the .51 you were experiencing from the other planet.

    Ahh, the B-17. IIRC, they had 8 guns, two in the nose, two waist gunners, one top turret, one rear facing top gunner, the ball turret in the belly, and a tail gunner. That'll be interesting to see you guys pull off.

    I'm assuming there will be some new restrictions applied to the "bots" with the turret AI change, considering nobody on the rover team has a snowball's chance of shooting down things like the falling warheads that we've seen so much of. I also doubt they'd have much luck against kamizake planes either, or honestly anything moving, with their pings. If not, that will certainly be an entertaining way to extend the series. Can't complain about more explosions and more episodes.
