IKR?!? I've been building a Prossh deck to play both, but my first version just had Prossh instakill people as soon as he got infect. Effective, but not the deck I wanted to build.
@@michaeltodd343 I totally forgot she exists. I'll have to try her. I like prossh since he gives a lot of bodies for death triggers and placing counters on.
I know this is going to sound like a weird comment... but thank you really for these deck techs, you helped me budget out some decks that would have ended up really expensive and made them into reliable budget versions. Your goreclaw video is still one of my favorites, I built it with some expensive cards i had sitting around and ended up not spending too much money. Thank you really :)
Thoughts on Grafted Exoskeleton? It's an equipment that gives +2/+2 and infect, but if it becomes unequipped from a creature, you have to sac that creature. you have quite a few creatures without wither or infect, including your commander, so being able to give them it is useful, plus you can use it as a sudo sac outlet by equipping it to something, then moving the equipment to sac the creature, giving you some utility draw power with your many effects that let you distribute counters to anything. Also while it's not amazing, Veridian Longbow is fun with infect, it gives equipped creature "T: deal one damage to any target" which can add up over a long game coming from infect creatures.
I built this deck a few weeks ago, and it is super fun! Every since I began to optimize and increase the power level of my decks, it's hard to build something more casual that still feels synergistic and fun. But this list is a masterpiece. It feels like my first awesome experiences with magic (I started playing in new phyrexia). This deck has awesome tech and feels interesting while being able to play against other casual decks without steamrolling. I am becoming a patron because of this deck.
Fun interaction if your running Nest of scarabs and Blowfly infestation. Get two scarabs on the board. Activate scorpion God or whatever to get a -1 counter on one of your scarabs. When you do it will die and both enchantment abilities will go on stack. Create the scarab first them place the counter from Blowfly on the other (as the target was defined on the stack). Now it will die and the effects will loop. now loop until you draw whatever card you want then put the counter on another creature to end the loop.
I began to play when "Hour of devastation" was launched. The first mythic rare that I opened was a Scorpion God and instantly I fell in love with it. Thank you very much for adding a huge amount of re-playability (don't know if I nailed that last word :v) to one of my favorite cards. :')
gimme a break holy moley I have not finished the Izoni//scarab god//gishtah//Zada decks yet! But I did finish the Jodah, Vaevictis and Jhoira ones just last week. Keep on with the good work!!
Holy moly, I swear these deck techs are my favorite things. I used to have such a hard time finding budget deck ideas to work around and you just make perfect videos to help me out! You're awesome!
I've now bought: Gishath, Sun's Avatar; Red Green White Dino Tribal, Izoni, Thousand-Eyed, Green Black Golgari, Edgar Markov; Red White Black Vampires, Zada, Hedron Grinder; Mono Red Goblins, and I convinced my friend to pick up Kambal, Consul of Allocation. Looking forward to 4 player commander (using your decks to introduce people to the format) so keep up the good work and thanks :D.
I've seen notifications on UA-cam and posts on Reddit of your channel before, but I saw Scarab God pop up and watched it. I will be for sure looking to invest in this deck in the near future and watch your other content. Fantastic, to the point, and very budget friendly :)
I would run Quicksand too because of Sudden Spoiling and Sorceress Queen (also its targeted removal on a land so...). Good job remembering the signet this time ;). I really like this deck alot. You are officially my favorite edh channel now. Thanks for another sweet deck tech.
I have a refined list for Scorpion God... it's my absolute favorite EDH deck of all time. I pulled a Prerelease promo Scorpion God, and I just knew that I needed to build the deck.
This deck is so dang cool. This will be the next deck I build. I just started playing with the izoni Deck that you built and man is it sturdy and really fun to play with.
If you've got the Black Sun's Zenith then Shred Memory is a good way to either find it (or Glistening Oil) or remove some problem cards in a graveyard.
Love this deck, basically my Kresh deck sans all the green cards, felt really good seeing that I actually own almost all of the reasonable upgrades. Time to go out this together!!!
I had tried to make a Budget Scorpion God deck months ago but just couldn't do it, fantastic to see it really be made and might just have to buy the cards :)
My friends and I really got into Magic around Morningtide. One of my first “good” decks was a Wither deck with Shadowmoor’s release. The upgrades you have here was my combo in that deck as it grew. It also ran 4 Demigod of Revenge for finisher also. I think that whole set is under utilized a lot and my friends now (with a new group) are always shocked by some of those cards. Another set I love that seems to be less used than I’d expect is Time Spiral. Those blocks are a large part of my collection and I love building EDH decks with them. I’m set to build treefolk, Giants, or goblins next.
For a backup -1/-1 counter source, I'd grab Ifnir Deadlands along with some common desert cards from Amonkhet. 'cause it's good to have lands that do stuff.
I love this deck. I run a similar one of the 60 card variety, so I have a few suggestions for other reasonable upgrades to the deck. Grim Poppet is a 7 cost 4/4 artifact creature that comes into play with 3 -1/-1 counters with the ability to throw those counters (at no cost) at any other creature. Torture is an enchant creature which costs 1 black. For the cost of 1 black 1 colorless, you can place a -1/-1 counter on enchanted creature.
Worth noting the card Flame Fusillade is strictly better than Lightning Volley, synergizes very well with Everlasting Torment in this deck because the lands and artifacts you tap will deal damage as though they have wither, and is still very affordable- damaged copies can be 8 cents on TCGPlayer.
It makes me so unbelievably sad that The Scorpion God does not say 'Partner with Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons' 😭 Great deck tho. I am still on the fence on wether I should built Hapatra or the Scorpion God (or maybe even both lol), but I guess I'll wait for the new Rakdos stuff from the next Ravnica-set. Hopefully Wither returns as a keyword ^^
@@fearanarchy It's pretty decent. Gives you a nice mana sink later in the game. It is a bit disappointing that they didn't make a way to utilize both of those commanders though

Merlannin Generally when you’re replacing cards, you want to keep a balance so swap out creatures for creatures, artifacts for artifacts etc. And from there you just replace stuff that either does something similar to an upgrade but worse, or simply cards you personally don’t like as much as one of the upgrades.
Toxic Nim has its uses but is the most expensive, fragile body. I would def look to cards that seem overcosted for their effect as well. The pinger Infect should stay though. It does some real work
What would you replace the infect cards with to enhance the main deck idea of -1/-1 counters? I play commander with my friends in a less competitive atmosphere and infect isn’t a good choice for friendly competitive play lol
I love my scorpion god; my player group hates it tough. This had a lot of interesting includes and a great many similarities. I do run a protection package of 4-5 artifacts. not just for the god but mostly because some of my creatures get sniped as soon as they hit the board...
Important to note that death by -1/-1 counters gets around indestructible. I found that putting Artifact removal is required for those who think Akroma's Memorial is fun. Red has a pretty easy time smashing artifacts. On that note, Rakdos colors have a serious problem with enchantments. I found the best way to deal with them is to use black to search and exile them before they're even drawn/played from someone's library/hand. Starstorm and blasphemous act are pretty good red boardwipes to have, since it's predictable to have mostly black boardwipes. This is the type of deck that can recover very easily from board wipes with all that free card draw, so destroying everything will usually end up in your favor. you will hardly ever pay for Commander tax, and there are a couple of desert land cards you can use to Exile people's graveyards. I found that Stigma Lasher was was a very valuable 2/2 red creature for two red Mana. not only does it have wither, but if it deals combat damage to a player they can't gain life for the rest of the game, even after Stigma Lasher is destroyed. Useful for players who want to bank on a cheap Felidar Sovereign victory or lifelink/extort. Hateflayer is another high value red card. Another issue I ran into with this deck was that it is usually skewed towards 75% black and 25% red cards in the deck. finding high-value red cards is key and having all of the Dual lands is a must. you never want to be in a scenario where you don't have that one red Mana to play your commander. just be very careful about how you balance your Mana base. Oblivion Strike (requires black but is devoid) and Brittle Effigy are good answers to people who like to drop the turn 5 Iona.
Briefly infestation and nest of scarabs is good with scorpion God's ability to draw from cards with -1/-1 counters is a great way to get as many cards as you want.
Add Mikaeus the Unhallowed so that everything in the deck will be able to come back after it dies, and since you can just add -1/-1 all the time you can do this basically forever. Also consider adding Necroskitter makes you gain EVERYONE ELSES creatures back after they die if they had a -1/-1. Seriously considering changing my Mikaeus combo commander deck into a Scorpion God one, the extra colour seems to be more fun, and the extra card draw the God provides is much needed
When Amonkhet first dropped our regular group got together on a saturday and 4 of us had Hapatra. We decided to do a 4 player game. Was stupid amount of triggers and hilarity ensued. But after that game none of us have gone back to play deck again haha
Looks cool. Have done like four of these decks. And its crazy, I have most of the cards in all decks that I've build. The only one I had to buy was Arcades the Strategist. This one though I have it and most all cards for it. Have to do find more lol

I feel like the scorpion God should've been called the scarab God. It just feels like scarabs biting and multiplying to eventually consume the victim. Like that movie the mummy
I decided to make a Scorpion God-1/-1 deck for three reasons. I love Scorpion, Locust, and Scarab God artwork. I had the idea of a -1/-1 deck in mind for a while. Finally, my friends say that Scorpion God sucks, so I want to defeat them with him. I just watched this after I built the deck and my deck has all the same cards.
@@TheCommandersQuarters I'll admit being an Australian these "$25" budget decks are a tad more expensive but honestly they are a lot cheaper then what I originally had in mind, your channel is amazing keep up the work
Is it weird that this deck gave us flashbacks to Scars of Mirrodin drafts? That's probably fine, right?
I wish there is a Jund commander that focus on -1/-1 counters so you can jam both ScorpGod and Hapatra into one deck 😏
You could always make Xira Arien your commander for the Jund colors and a little card draw, and then jam the rest of the deck full of -1/-1 counters

Would be fun! Maybe in the future!
I feel like the scorpion God should've been called the scarab God. It just feels like scarabs biting and multiplying to eventually consume the victim. Like that movie the mummy
Great deck as always
Thanks!
YESSSSSSS the hype is real!
INDEEEEED!
Love the videos, you always give me ideas for new decks! Have you thought of building one around Shanna, Sissay's Legacy?
I decided to make a Scorpion God-1/-1 deck for three reasons. I love Scorpion, Locust, and Scarab God artwork. I had the idea of a -1/-1 deck in mind for a while. Finally, my friends say that Scorpion God sucks, so I want to defeat them with him.
I just watched this after I built the deck and my deck has all the same cards.
Have you thought about a szadek, lord of secrets? I’d love to see one.
Would be fun! Maybe in the future!
Love your content! Please try to do a Break the Bank or even a Spike Feeders video for this one!
Thanks! Might just have to in the future!
You spoil me with Hour of Devastation commander decks, christmas has come early.
And infect for a bonus. Beautiful absolutely beautiful.
Ah, infect. My friend and companion. I love this deck.
Thanks!
Yeah! I love -1/-1 counters
Nice!
To be honest I was not a fan of the whole -1-1 counters mechanic at all but now I'm itching to build this deck
Nice!
First beetle juice now the stinging boi, I have both of these cards laying in my binder, time to build :D
Haha nice!

I'll admit being an Australian these "$25" budget decks are a tad more expensive but honestly they are a lot cheaper then what I originally had in mind, your channel is amazing keep up the work
@@IceForPvMGaming thanks! Will do!
Finally a place to put my skithiryx too
Nice!
Put in a desert package containing Ifnir Deadlands, too. No reason to pass on free -1/-1 utility from your manabase.
Yay!!! Do you smell what the rock is cookin'?
Haha nice!
