Jane, thankyou for your wonderful advice. Ex spendthrift here. I've been batch cooking the last few weeks and I estimate it's saving me about £100 a month. I'm also regularly saving money and building an emergency fund. I followed your budget planning, which really is a must if you want to get control of your finances. I took it further today and cancelled my £100 botox appointment. Ive got 2 frown lines between my brows which I hate as they remind me of a bad time in my life. So instead I went DIY and cut a fringe to hide them. It looks great!

I haven’t been as successful this month in cooking at home as I usually am, entirely due to lack of properly planning ahead. Your post (and my shrinking bank balance) have woken me up and made me realize it’s time to get back into the kitchen!
Fortunately I’m still within my budget for the month. Now I stand a better chance of staying that way.
@@LauraMacMillan-el2kc Thankyou. I really enjoy cooking from scratch these days. I always have music or an audio book playing, and I try making a new recipe regularly. Despite the high price of food these days, I'm actually spending less than a year ago. Good to hear you're gonna rattle those pots and pans again!

Simple, humble and wholesome, yes please! I cook and eat that way, but would love to see your recipes. Even after 60 years of being chief cook and bottle washer for my childhood family through parenthood and now as granny part time and for my husband and me daily, it is still great to see how others make their own recipes.

Yes yes yes would love to see more low cost meals. I love being able to turn left overs into a completely different meal as it doesn’t feel boring as I had it the day before. Will definitely be trying this one it looks yummy. Always try to let the ads roll. I feel it is my duty after you and Mike have given up your time to film and edit the video for us. I never get tired of watching your videos they are so informative and motivating. I wish you stopped a video every day but I know that’s too great am ask so on the days you don’t I just rerun one of your other ones and I enjoy that Just as much.

With my partner being half Italian, pasta is always in the house (many types for different recipes, it is taken seriously in this house) so this is perfect for us. I love the idea of the cheese sauce too to give it a bit of an indulgent, comforting wintery feel.

We've become so used to cooking from recipes that I think we sometimes forget: even in the time before literacy was widespread, there were good cooks. It's a question of being able to use your knowledge and experience and what you have on hand to make a good meal. Thanks for inviting us into your kitchen, Jane.

I would love more videos like this! This is very similar to how I cook, and I appreciate all the ideas you give us about substituting different ingredients and just using what you have. Even though I don't eat meat or dairy, your cooking videos are still quite useful and inspirational for me, because you cook with so many veggies and you have some terrific ideas about how to repurpose/substitute items. :)

I love the cooking videos! Fun to see food prep methods of lots of other people. My kids used to say I could feed 6 people a 3 course meal when all I had available was a can of beans and a tea bag, LOL! I don't remember being quite that clever but I do love to see how others use what they have to make wonderful food, thank you!

Great video. I am lactose intolerant but with a few tweaks using lactose free milk I think I can make this. Will use breadcrumbs instead of the cheese as a topper. Great way to use up odds and ends of stuff! Keep these coming please!

Loved you pasta bake I usually use all the left over roast dinner veg chopped up and pan Fry it with a poached egg on top, loved how easy you made the cheese sauce will defo be making it instead of buying a ready jar.

Great! I did that yesterday because I had leftover pasta and an open can of sauce that needed using, plus 50% off minced pork. Ok, I didn't bake it, I just tossed it all together. 😊
