Dude. I tried seperating the tranny. Either there is more to disconnect that I am not seeing or I'm dumb. Those four bolts and some brackets plus the torque converter bolts. There may be corrosion on the dowels or something but dude, I do this for a living lol! It wasnt comin. Glad this video was posted dude. I almost got it with a 1/4" swivel 13mm on a wobble ext...SO CLOSE LOL! Going in the a.m. for these sockets!

This video gave me the inspiration to tackle my oil leak that I have put up with for many years. One day to disassemble, another to re-assemble. That 13mm bolt was a bear to remove. First thing to take off.
I just completed this work with success here are my thoughts. I used an engine support bar… it was not needed. Two engine/transmission mounts (near each fender) maintains the position. Engine does not need to be lifted. The exhaust crossover pipe is rigidly secured to the manifold on the opposite side. So, lifting the engine offer no additional clearance from the crossover pipe. I detached the lower control arm from the sub frame on the right side. Remove the single nut on the transmission mount near the radiator and the hardware on the rear center transmission mount. Two sub-frame bolts engaged by 2-3 threads on the left side allowed the sub-frame to pivot after removing the remaining 4-bolts. This is needed to ease with the removal of the pan. Don’t forget to remove any bolts and plastic clips from the sub-frame.
Replace the dreaded 13mm bolt with M8-1.25 X 45 (40 is OK also) cap screw and flat washer. This allows for the use of a ball end Allen wrench to easily install the screw without any problems. Home Depot sells the screw, #803438 for a couple of dollars.

Thanks very much!. I just finished replacing the gasket and your videos helped a lot. A couple of suggestions: rather than slotting the original bolt and RTV-ing it to an extension, I used a socket head cap screw and a ball-end allen driver. The M8-1.25 x 40 mm screw is available at Lowes, as are the ball-end wrenches. Secondly, rather than using a pry bar to increase the exhaust tube clearance, I used an M8-1.25 x 50 mm bolt (from Lowes), inserted from the threaded end of the exhaust tube flange and pushing against a plate in front of the non-thread flange. I just wasn't able to pry it far enough apart otherwise. My Deville is a 2004 DHS. I have never found a more comfortable car. So far no problems with the head bolts. Keep up the good work! I am grateful for guys like you.

I was able to remove the oil pan by removing the oil pick up tube using a long wrench and my fingers to let it drop in the pan. However, I can't figure out how to put it back together because I can't reach far enough to start the nut on the brace. I have the cradle dropped down as far as it will go without removing it entirely. The pan just will not clear the pickup tube to allow me to slip the pan over the exhaust pipe. Any ideas will be welcome. The video is great and covered about everything. Mine is a 2011 DTS.

It looks easier in your video than I'm sure it is. Any problems removing bolts or nuts from frame? That pry bar and jack really does work. @imatter4619 2 місяці тому

@joseconstante1321 Brother, I cut it just enough on both ends with a saw saw and grinder, took off the pan and it was the oil pump that was clauged. I cleaned it put everything back then took it to a muffler shop that for 150$ they put another piece. It sounds a bit louder now but 8k miles later the car is running like a champ. It passed smog and everything. BTW, on the side closer to the front there was somekind of flange which I eliminated and made everything alot easier. It was my last resort before junking it. I'm was really proud of myself. Saw a Mexican guy doing it on UA-cam which everyone made fun of, but with someone with average mechanical skills and not the best tools, this worked great for me. Hit me up here if you need to know anything else.

If you don't remove the oil suction tube it will be almost impossible, let the pan drop enough to where you can reach your hand in and loosen the bolt and nut to the suction tube, don't worry if they fall in the pan you can retrieve them when you pull the pan down.
