  • Hey guys, I know it's been a long time since I posted a dance video because of the progress report but now after watching this video you can hopefully understand my overall concept of trying to give you all more than just another dance video every time I release something because there's so much more to my life and things I'm trying to do than simply just put out dance videos forever. I am so glad you all have respected my new endeavors with The *Progress Report but just as happy that now I am able to release something that is the reason you guys all started watching my videos in the first place- me DANCING! yay! hahaha but Anyway down to the nitty gritty of the piece, I ended up being on a super big music drought this winter until I finally downloaded Chance's mixtape and then have been bumping it ever since-so dope that another dude from Chicago is just living his dream and started from nothing just like me, even CRAZIER is that we actually have the exact same birthday accruing to wikipedia hahah 4/16/93. Anyway, since this was kind of Chicago boy thing, I decided to include an art form that I grew up alongside my whole life which is Chicago footwork, by NO means am I really skilled at it (go look up King Charles and Footwork Kingz) but I did grow up around this style of movement and stuck to the basic steps I did know like the mike & ikes, tom n jerry, and 95's. So hopefully you guys enjoyed a lil bit of my piece of home and understand my concept that this continues from a video I shot two years ago when I used to be super insecure about my freestyle-it was until very recently that I really started to embrace myself and stop trying to fit in that I've felt comfortable being me and going in the circle to get down with everyone. So hopefully I inspire all of you to do that sooner rather than later after watching this video. No high production on this one, just a simple concept so we could focus on what all has brought us together- DANCE, like I said in the last episode of TPR, "No matter what happened today never forget who you are and where you came from".
I love you all-ps if ya'll could get Chance to see this that'd be tight-I feel like he'd appreciate a fellow Chicagoan reppin out here in LaLa land...okay sorry that was just the fan in me haha.
    Love y'all again, peace!

His choreography is so incredibly detailed... Like he literally choreographed to every SINGLE word down to the syllables of the song lyrics; and while his steps were to the lyrics, his grooves were to the back beat. I've watched this video probably over 50 times and each time around, I've noticed more dance steps 🙃. He really dissected and picked these songs apart and felt everything down to his bones, and I feel like that's what a good dancer / choreographer should do. Just wow, Amazing musicality, Amazing everything 👏. So amazing job, Ian. 2 years later, and I'm still getting chills from this video. Too bad my body and brain won't let me digest what I've been watching over and over again or else I would be attempting to do this dance myself! 😂😅😩😭

This is such a late reply but honestly so true. I’ve taken class from him and I distinctly remember him breaking down a move that in theory would’ve just been moving one arm down and then up and over the other and he explained it as flipping a calendar over and it’s the month of June and you put an x through the 12th day of that month or something like that I was like omg just trying to contemplate all of the thought into that was wild lol.

The first official Ian Eastwood video I had ever seen I saw the day after it came out, aka my 20th birthday, and it changed my life forever. Never had I ever seen someone move the way I always dreamed I could. It was like watching someone who understands how you feel about the world and process your feelings the same way and that not only touched my heart but also changed my life forever. Ian goes after what he believes in and never gives up. It has been an honor watching you grow so much in the past year and I cannot wait to see what is in store for your future. I am so flipping proud of you, it's indescribable and I cannot wait to meet you one day. Thank you for being true to yourself, your dreams, and for inspiring me everyday. With all of my love and support, now and forever, Gabi.

Ian you never fail to do what you do best whether that be producing episodes or creating the dopest choreo. You have inspired soooo many dancers out there to dance with the passion and conviction that only you have. You are the biggest model for me. And the best part is that you never forget where you came from and who was there with you for the journey from top to the bottom. Honestly it's like you're perfect Ian. Everything you do ,dancing, producing episodes for TPR, and being an entertainer and so much more is perfected by you. I don't understand how you can ever be scared of the response you're going to get for videos because they're so on point. Everything always just clicks and represents you perfectly. Wow sorry for the rant youtube but I needed to get this out. You're amazing Ian and no matter what you go through and what you went through your true fans will always be behind you.

There's nothing wrong with his dance. I think its one of the best pieces I've seen from him and dancers around the world. He's expressing himself through his work and no one should take it personal because he's having fun. No one owns the dance and he clearly said he isn't a professional. So let praise him for his hard work instead of continuously being judgmental about his pieces when he's just being himself.
    P.S. I love you Ian.

Best piece in a long time. For a while, I admit I felt as if Ian's touch had been lost. I was definitely proved wrong now. I'm pretty sure i've never even commented on a single one of the videos on this channel even though i've been a viewer for years. Not just his freestyle, but the choreo itself. Damn. I even have to put it in there that it was a long ass piece on its own, let alone difficult. I think people forget that dancers are going at it for over a minute. Dancing for that long is like sprinting for that long. Shit gets rough, yet it's so overlooked. Huge props for yet another great video. Definitely a good ass intro to 2014.

I literally appreciate this so much. I'm a dancer who still gets scared when I hear the word freestyle, especially if it means doing it alone, but i'm learning to overcome it and this definitely helps in changing the thought of it being so scary in the first place. Also, not to mention the choreo was badass. Love videos like this where it just shows you guys having fun. You all went off!

Thank you Ian for taking time to respond. My critique stems from various convos that took place among several footworkers as well as my professional feelings about folks trying to represent a style that they have not thoroughly studied. I am fan of your work and aesthetics, but I stand in my position that if one wishes to represent a specialty style, they should take the time out to learn & participate in the culture of respective style. By the way, if you are in.L.A. King Charles is hosting Footwork Frenzy (next week), a lower body style competition @Movement Studios. Respectfully, Lady Sol

Californiagurl, I think you missed the point. He is an AMAZING DANCER, not the debate here, I HAVE BEEN WATCHING Ian's development since he was 13, INCREDIBLE. The subject at hand is the representation of a style that has over 20 years of history which clearly you too are not versed on. When people take time to study & immerse themselves in a cultural movement, if it not represented in the best way (which we know HE CAN ACHIEVE if he wanted to), the PEOPLE of that culture can be sensitive about it, that was it. Best to you. LSol

Yooooo. I just realized. At the beginning of this video Brian is yelling out something with his shirt off and he says the same exact thing at the end do my dance video. And the do my dance video was made in 2012 while this video was made in 2014. But, was it really? 🤔 I will not stop till I get an answer!!

+Chenoa Threet It was definitely shot more recently because Brian's hair and body have changed completely. He's more muscular/toned in this video than the older one and he did not have the samurai haircut until later.
