Building the Tamiya 1/35 Panther Auf-A Tank Part 1
The Panther was a German medium tank deployed during World War II on the Eastern and Western Fronts in Europe from mid-1943 to its end in 1945. It had the ordnance inventory designation of Sd.Kfz. 171. Until 27 February 1944, it was designated as the Panzerkampfwagen V Panther when Hitler ordered that the Roman numeral "V" be deleted. Contemporary English language reports sometimes refer to it as the Mark V.

BABY YODA I liked it. Simple and fast. It would have been a weekend build if I was more motivated. I have the base coat down, but I’m stalling on the rest of the paint.

I would prefer to see more of the process such as you painting and also no music as it just makes it difficult to hear you.

The old Tamiya panther...with 8 wheels missing. That was a weird Tamiya decision. Nice video.

@@milky55way2012 wtf? This sucks. I noticed it seemed small the back half on some kits o seem seems like the wheels and tracks are short if you look at it from the side. Is there any manufacturers that have this fix? Has tamiya fixed this problem?

@@rickmoreno6858 Read my above reply had to correct...kit is so old doubt it has been corrected. Note: This omission does not affect wheels, as the missing ones are not visible. Might be able to correct with Dragon spares or Tamiya Panther G wheels?

In the late seventies that was such a cool kit. I can remember the Panther, Leopard and Saladin armoured car all motorised. Yes, today there are more accurate versions, but you have to remember the main selling point was that they were motorised and they were engineered with this in mind. So detail to 0.001mm did not exist. As did aftermarket parts. In fact I still have a motorised Centurion and Saladin in the stash I picked up some time ago, for old times sake. If you wanted to detail things, you used what was available around you. Screens were old net curtains stiffened with pva. Canvas covers were tissue paper stiffened with pva. You made straps etc out of old metal toothpaste tubes etc. But they were simple to build, and are still simple to build for kids today. Their contemporaries on my shelves were the Monogram Grant, Lee and Sherman.

Try and sand off as much of the paint between the turret and barrel as you can, a bit more glue and prop it up to dry for a couple of hours. If still no joy, superglue or epoxy

Lots of flaws in this "review". You didn't talk about the bad things on this build, and you didn't paint the details or out on the treads. You completely missed the fact that you were supposed to shave the teeth of the bogie wheels. I'm unimpressed.

  • @mikem67

That kit is a dog. It is severely out of scale and incorrect details. You should build the Gs from the mid 90s or the newer D model. Those are very good. Everyone should avoid this ausf A kit.
