The Idea is to keep the ice away from the docks. If the ice starts to move you keep going until it is all broken up. If I remember right this ice was 6-12 inches thick. This boat was an old lobster boat from Maine, we took the 4 cyl diesel out and installed a big block Chrysler 440.
