    Okay, even if I didn’t already love, robots, industrial art, and lamps, the vacuum trick was worth the watch 😆

    I had never seen someone using vacuum cleaner to pull the thread like that...cool...I will try this project soon!

      I learned that trick from an electrician. He would use the vacuum to pull the string through conduit and then pull the larger pull rope with the string and finally pull the wire with the pull rope.

    Wicked... I love ideas that come from just being around tools and parts all the time.

    Hey! I've always wanted to make one of these popular robot pipe lamps. Let me know what you think in the comments. There's a material list in the description. Enjoy!!

    I want to thank you for posting this awesome video, as it gave me the inspiration to reproduce the lamp as a gift for my grandson’s Birthday. He loves it and gets mad when it’s time to turn it off for bedtime! I did mount it to a base and incorporated a dimmer switch, to use a normal led bulb. And the vacuum trick worked like a charm! Thanks again!

    This is really cool. I was looking for the Lamp/Liquor dispenser though. I've seen them on pintrest for sale but want to make it myself. If you have the details, please let me know. Thanks.

      Thanks Joe! I don't have any plans for a drink dispensing version. I wish I did. But if you think about it, it's probably a pretty straight for build.

      @@joeguilfoyle1922 Yes, That's the one I was thinking of! It looks like it would use the same fittings but just add a few extra to hold the bottle and the valve.

    About how much did this cost to make?

    • @Makebuildmodify
      @Makebuildmodify  3 роки тому

      That depends on the cost of the pipe fitting at the time of purchase. When I build this lamp it was about $100.00 in parts.

  • @sanguchito7381
    @sanguchito7381 2 роки тому

    This is a really cool idea, but exposed metal piping that's not earthed is a death trap. You are one loose wire away from grabbing the thing and being unable to let go.

    • @Makebuildmodify
      @Makebuildmodify  2 роки тому

      Most lamps in the United States are not typically earthed or "grounded".

  • @ManCrafting
    @ManCrafting 6 років тому +1

    Cool looking robot. What’s the total cost for parts?

    • @Makebuildmodify
      @Makebuildmodify  6 років тому +2

      Too much. I think is was about $100.00. But I justified it because of the video.

  • @griZoid

    Hey man! This is very nice, I can't find the items in Romania :( I am not a plumber nor have I any knowledge about the parts, is there maybe a different terminology for all the pipes here? help!

    • @Makebuildmodify
      @Makebuildmodify  5 років тому

      I'm not sure what to say about finding these parts near you. Maybe just buy them on Amazon. I think I linked them in the description.
