I learned that trick from an electrician. He would use the vacuum to pull the string through conduit and then pull the larger pull rope with the string and finally pull the wire with the pull rope.
Hey! I've always wanted to make one of these popular robot pipe lamps. Let me know what you think in the comments. There's a material list in the description. Enjoy!!
I want to thank you for posting this awesome video, as it gave me the inspiration to reproduce the lamp as a gift for my grandson’s Birthday. He loves it and gets mad when it’s time to turn it off for bedtime! I did mount it to a base and incorporated a dimmer switch, to use a normal led bulb. And the vacuum trick worked like a charm! Thanks again!
Love it! Will give it a go as my granddaughter loves "bo-bots"! (waiting for the euro comments on grounding. Must be something in the water over there!)
This is really cool. I was looking for the Lamp/Liquor dispenser though. I've seen them on pintrest for sale but want to make it myself. If you have the details, please let me know. Thanks.
@@joeguilfoyle1922 Yes, That's the one I was thinking of! It looks like it would use the same fittings but just add a few extra to hold the bottle and the valve.
This is a really cool idea, but exposed metal piping that's not earthed is a death trap. You are one loose wire away from grabbing the thing and being unable to let go.
Hey man! This is very nice, I can't find the items in Romania :( I am not a plumber nor have I any knowledge about the parts, is there maybe a different terminology for all the pipes here? help!
Okay, even if I didn’t already love, robots, industrial art, and lamps, the vacuum trick was worth the watch 😆
I know, right!? It works great.
I had never seen someone using vacuum cleaner to pull the thread like that...cool...I will try this project soon!

Wicked... I love ideas that come from just being around tools and parts all the time.
Thanks Thomas!
Nice move with the vacuum.
Thanks!

That vacuum trick though...👏👏👏👏👏👌
Thanks Scott!

Your robot appears to have a broken back. Its a bit unnerving.
Ha! robots don't have backs....
Wow, and just Wow! and the vacuum trick is so cool!

Thanks!

Ha! I hope it turns out well.
Just found your channel about a week ago and really like some of the stuff you do. Glad to see that you're posting again after a long absence.
Thanks! I'm a home builder during the day. So I can only do so many video. But I'm trying. Thank for watching my videos!

Thanks Joe! I don't have any plans for a drink dispensing version. I wish I did. But if you think about it, it's probably a pretty straight for build.
@@Makebuildmodify Not sure if you can see this link. There are many like these

About how much did this cost to make?
That depends on the cost of the pipe fitting at the time of purchase. When I build this lamp it was about $100.00 in parts.

Most lamps in the United States are not typically earthed or "grounded".
Cool looking robot. What’s the total cost for parts?
Too much. I think is was about $100.00. But I justified it because of the video.

I'm not sure what to say about finding these parts near you. Maybe just buy them on Amazon. I think I linked them in the description.
chcę to.
Mój! ;)
You should give the poor guy some adjustable wrenches or crocodile clamps for hands :-D
Good idea!
Вы цены вообще видели на такие детальки? Да на таких роботах разориться можно.
Роботы дорогие
please make a face helmet for this robot lamp it will look much amazing
Interesting idea.
You forgot to use pipe dope - just incase he ever gets gas!
Ha, fun build.
Ha! Next time.
HAHA. Awesome!
Thanks!
Luxo-bot?
;)
Hahaha you slaughter the lamp at 3:00 but its a good idea to turn such a boring lamp into nice robot lamp
Ha! Yeah killed it!
When I see this all I hear is HEYYYYYY
;)
How to make a robot with pic pipe?
I'm not sure what you're asking.
